Love the Review. Ive always had great customer service and a good experience with Pete's pillars. Im a guy without a lot of cash for great ammo but my Stainless CZ Pillar barrel has never let me down and one hole groups at 50 with cci and accurate on the kyl even with federal automatch. I picked up the 16" and put a VQ blow forward comp. Im happy with it 💯. Gotta go back and watch the part one now! Thanks Josh.
Love your videos great information,IMHO I thought you had a lot of groups stringing vertically, not a criticism just an observation from a fellow shooter and hunter.I use Sako rifles and leupold and Elites scopes, this is Bill from Ireland 🇮🇪 keep up the good work 👏 🎉🎉 Oh yes we were ripped off big time with the ammo during the so called shortage, ammo quadrupled in price, good on you for naming out the stores that ripped you off in America 🇺🇸
Just got mine Wednesday. Did a thorough borescope inspection. After that I decided to clean it good with some jb bore paste. Headspace was set to .048” so I shimmed the bolt to get .043”. Ran about 50 fowlers of federal auto match through it, then switched to norma match. Hope it wasn’t a fluke, but the very first 10 shot group at 50, was one jagged hole, at a .301”. I’ll take it! Really please so far at The price point, plus it balances now on a barricade!
I truly appreciate your willingness to review "budget barrels" for the CZ 457. Your reviews are very thorough and up front. As your time permits I hope you can make time to review the "K1 Precision" drop in barrel that has recently debuted. Thanks and keep up the great work.
You need to talk Feddersen into releasing a CZ 457 drop in. Their 10/22 barrels are amazing for $160 bucks. Great video series, one question is the barrel any better than the factory MTR really?
That’s totally unacceptable, around 1/2” inch at 50yrds for 10-shots should be the norm with the occasional flyer. Talk to Feddersen see what they will do for you. The other great route is send the action to Randy at CPC his chamber is geared towards CCI standard. Outstanding results for very little money. What bolt you running?
@@katecolee5073 Just threw in a Brownells bolt, made no difference in performance compared to OEM. Do you have any example groups posted anywhere on reddit/RFC?
Hello sir I was wondering if you remove your cheek riser every time to to run your cleaning rod through the barrel? With it screwed in place it seems hard to clean.
I think my new 16.5” Pro Varmint 457 may be a Factory Freak… For whatever reason, It loves SK Match over Eley. That being said, I started running a Griffin Optimus 9mm suppressor and the SK Match tightened up to a very consistent .200”-.225” at 50y. I was seeing mid .300” Groups without suppressor… Is this normal for a factory barrel? Does the Can create better harmonics? Idk
It can help or hurt harmonics it's really just a guessing game. It's like installing a tuner that has one setting, will work for some barrels but not others
I bought the Pete Pillars barrel, while doing ammo testing it seem to have issue extracting Eley Team ammo I was testing. Other ammo didn’t have an issue just the Eley team. I know Eley has a thinner shell casing base. Could this be a headspace issue or something else?
@@PursuitofAccuracy thank you for the quick reaponse. Same batch of test I shot the Eley simi auto Benchrest, a few light primer strike as well could this be due to the same head space issue? It’s space is too far and not getting proper strike?
Salut Josh, I appreciate that any comments on your appearance are considered inappropriate by many …… however that beard is beginning to dominate rather than supplement your image. Having been a bearded male from the day I left school some 60+ years ago, and had all manner of beard styles myself, I think a beard can add so much as an enhancement feature. En France they might describe your beard as “rustique”, which is a diplomatic comment to avoid an insult ….. but hey you are still so very young, wisdom only comes with time and experience! Cordialement RB
@@PursuitofAccuracy Salut Josh, thank you for your reply. Setting aside all my subjective comments, I remember at university a close friend only finally accepted that his beard was “a step too far” when his friends pointed out to him that they could tell what he had eaten in his last meal ……. by all the bits in his moustache and beard. All the best RB.
Just curious, what would you do to try and hand lap this barrel yourself, and do you think you would get the same results as buying one hand lapped already?
How many rounds do you have through that? I had the choice between PP and EABCO for the same price. I chose the later. I have about 500 through it and it seems to be getting better the more I shoot. It definitely shoots better than my stock barrel. I have been shooting garbage ammo through it until last weekend. Ran some SK Standard plus and Eley Match through it. Shot 10 rds MOA at 100.
Josh, so at this point your advise is to stay in good graces with Jonathan from Modocam Custom Rifles and with Angie from Lilja Barrels. The Mullerworks from MODACAM Custom Rifles for the 1.180" diameter Mullerworks CZ 457 barrel is $860 shipped. The wait time is October for both Mullerworks and Lilja.. Lilja is shipping the 1" diameter CZ 457 26" barrels in October. Are any of this barrels for top accuracy equally as good? Please advise. Because the Lilja 26" barrel is $600 shipped while the Mullerworks is $860 shipped. Thanks for your advise.
@@joshp9797in a world where the said drop in absolutely hammers ..🤷🏻♂️ have you seen the results of the barrel.. one could almost say why spen voodoo money when you can make a 457 do the same for less 🤷🏻♂️
@@PursuitofAccuracy I want supreme accuracy just like all the guys in your channel. I think the MCR w/ the Mullerworks 1.18" barrel is as close as I will get to a full custom $4k plus money RIM-X Rifle.
Hey there. Im a lefty. Looking at the CZ Varmit because its available on left hand but the MTR is not. Is anyone familiar with what the differences are other than the stock ?
@@PursuitofAccuracy Thanks a million for the response. LOVE your channel. Discovered recently and have been going through the archives and watching them all. Just getting into this. Do you think the lefty varmint is a good way to start? If im reading the room correctly I can easily upgrade that barrel in the future?
Fellow lefty here. I have the varmint. Only thing I did was adjust the trigger as light as I could get it. I did the usual ammo brand testing and of course my gun liked the high $(Eley Tenex) best. I then bought 4 different lots from Killough and ran 5, five shot groups of each lot @ 100 yards (I have read some lots/brands shoot well @ 50 y but not so great @ 100). Best lot, I got 1MOA (1") groups, bought 1/2 case. As someone once said, "buy 5 CZ 457's, 4 will shoot great, 1, so-so".. YMMV
@@PursuitofAccuracy ah that was a shame, I was otherwise looking forward to a part 2 of it. I just bought myself a Sako Quad Range, I had completely forgotten how much fun it is to shoot with rim rifles
