ROCKHOUNDING IN THE SOUTHERN NEVADA DESERT. ONE DAY I SPOTTED IN A WASH THE VERY CORNER OF WHAT LOOKED TO BE PETRIFIED WOOD. I PROCEEDED TO DIG IT UP AND DISCOVERED THE MOST COLORFUL SPECIMEN OF OPALIZED AND AGATIZED SOUTHERN NEVADA DESERT PETRIFIED WOOD. I'VE BEEN ROCKHOUNDING THESE AREAS FOR OVER A DECADE AND HAVE NEVER DISCOVERED SUCH A REMARKABLE COLORFUL SPECIMEN. THIS PIECE HAS EVERY COLOR OF THE RAINBOW AND EVERY SHADE INBETWEEN. NOW IT'S TIME! I FINALLY DECIDED TO MAKE IT MY NEXT LAPIDARY ART PROJECT. LAPIDARY #9. I'LL SHOW YOU FROM A TO Z HOW I COMPLETE THESE AMAZING LAPIDARY ART PIECES. I'LL SHOW YOU HOW I STRENGTHEN MY SPECIMEN. HOW I GRIND AND WET POLISH WITH MY MAKITA WET POLISHER AND DIAMOND POLISHING PADS. THEN THE FINAL BUFFING WITH CERIUM OXIDE FOLLOWED BY THE FINAL DRY POLISHER. HOLLY SH!# !! WHAT AN AMAZING TURNOUT!! I came back to watch this one for obvious reasons and realized I hadn't commented on it yet. It almost seems like that bright yellow in it is rarer than the blacks and the purples. I see why she's your favorite, she's gorgeous.
