I was 17 when this was released in 1977. Still have the 78 and play it on my turntable. Great tune! I believe Jay did music for the "Castle" TV show too.
WOW!!!!!YOU GUYS ARE EFFING AWESOME! I host a national weekly radio show called FLASHBACK SATURDAY NIGHT and I play Fergusson's version about 7 times a year. I will be running your version into our library and will absolutely play it on the show. I'll shoot you a link of my segment playing your song. Great to meet you guys. Here's a link to our archives so you can get a feel for what I do. www.mixcloud.com/bobby-gray3/
@@flashbacksaturdaynight871 thanks so much for the kind words! It means a lot to us as lovers of this music. Please check out our other videos and let us know what you think!
Outstanding!! Well performed down to the note. Back in the day, I don’t remember this song when it came out. But in ‘78, when I was fourteen and in the 9th grade, “Shakedown Cruise” was released. The old WLSQ-AM classic rock station in Montgomery, Alabama played it all the time.
What an amazing cover! I was younger when this came out (born in ‘67), but it was still one of my favorites just the same! Thanks for sharing this under appreciated hit so perfectly.
Hey thanks very much! We are really glad ypou enjoyed it! Our space has been transformed since our earlier videos were shot. Nothing like a pandemic to free up time to reimagine rehearsal space!
Keep coming back to this video. The way it starts out mellow then kicks in and the camera vibrates the video... WOW. Not a music expert but the tempo, heavier bass and drums make it better than the original.
Damned good rendition. I was a college football player in the mid-to-late 1970's, and remember this song very well. This group captures the essence of being alive in 1975, and onward.
You guys brought a smile to this old man's face. Fantastic job and a great tribute to a much underrated song from 1978. Has Jay heard this? Sure brings back memories.
Hey Roger! We're so glad you enjoyed our tribute! It's one of our favorites. As for whether Mr Ferguson has hear our humble little group perform his tune we have no idea!
Yep, brings back those good old AM Rock Radio days from the 70's. Lot's of catchy pop rock or bubblegum rock songs from back then that are actually fun to listen to and/or play. AM Radio had this stuff, flip it to FM for "Album Oriented" rock and the typical Yes, Led Zep, ZZ Top, Bad Co. etc., if you lived it you know what I mean. BTW, you guys played that right on and tight, nice skills.
Hello and thanks very much for your kind words. We are truly thrilled that we produced something you enjoyed. This band LIVES to keep the 70's alive! Stay smooth!
Thanks for the kind words! While we can't say we do any of the music we do better than the originals, we just love that people like you appreciate our love of them and enjoy our renditions! Stay smooth!
Random, came across this video. Okay, I had to play it four times. Wow, amazing job. You guys nailed it. Yep, simply perfect. Great memories, listening to this in my new Trans Am at the time.
