First of all, I want to say THANK YOU for subscribing to The Trek Planner's RU-vid Channel!! I cannot believe my channel now has over 600 subscribers and I want to say thank you to each of you for subscribing and joining us on adventures!
We strive to bring you fun, interesting, and unique places and we will continue to do so. We may not be a big flashy adventure channel, but we hope you enjoy what we have to share!
On this trip, I explore a new place in Southeastern Utah that is full of petroglyphs. It took a while to get to this location and required downclimbing a steep area, but I enjoyed visiting these petroglyphs very much and I hope you do too!

I am so intrigued by all the petroglyphs. They are amazing and I love trying to guess what they mean.

I am really amazed that the designs on the pottery are so different. Colorful glazes. Lines, stripes & all kinds of decor added to bowls, water jugs, etc.

2:45 The upside person means someone has died. The horizontal zigzag line to the left is a number. Together could represent the age of the person that died or when(during the year) he died.

Thank you for watching, Chevy! I'm sure we are only seeing a fraction of what was originally was before it was eroded!

I really enjoy your adventures in the early 70s. My parents took me to the Mesa Verde Cliff dwellings, and I have been fascinated ever since and would love to be out exploring like you are keep it up. You have a great voice and such interesting content.😎

That’s amazing! I was in Montezuma Canyon about 3 weeks ago, drove from Georgia and just happened upon it on my way to Moab. Lots of archaeology!

I do like those Petroglyphs. Seen some in Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico. Utah is hopefully this year so thanks for the info on this area. Take care and safe treks out there.

What instrument and music is this which you plat at 3:00minute ? It kinda gives me nice warm sunset feeling, like im going to die but it will be okay, kinda brings me to my childhood and those cold chilly autumn sunsets when i was heading home from playing outside, nobody on the streets,coming home, warmth and peace.

Aw man I wanna find some petroglyphs up here in Northern Utah. You should check and see if there's any near ruins up this way 🤷

Did you notice the Datura flower at 1:12? It's a very important plant in Native American Culture.
@southwesthardypalms
@southwesthardypalms Год назад
Yes! I have seen them at every indigenous site in Utah I’ve ever been too. You also notice an over abundance of prickly pear cactus. It’s so incredible the ancestors of the native plants these people planted are still growing in the same spots.

You should try if possible to play with your video camera settings to take negative or grey scale film of the faint petroglyphs.

the rippled surfaces of lots of the pot shards are to expose more surface area to the heat, so a large pot for simmering food.

I think I know how these petroglyphs were made. I think the ancients used ash/soot to draw their designs, then used the flames from torches to burn the rock around the soot/ash design. That’s my guess, does anyone know? It could have been that they just used ash to draw to tell stories, and over time, with the torches being nearby, the fire darkened the rock that the flames touched but not where the soot was, so now we have a negative of what it used to be. Perhaps there was another media and more colors too?

Aunt Google tells me that typically upside down Native Symbols are used to show that something (or some body) has been killed
@Eddiep80
@Eddiep80 11 месяцев назад
Yeah it means they fell or died. Ive see one upside down person way up a rock tower in bears ear. It clearly symbolizes that someone fell from up there. Was trippy
