Tigran Petrosyan's beautiful game, thank you for your comment. I started playing chess in 1963, when Petrosyan was playing against Mikhail Botvinnik for the world championship.I was 14 years old at the time. A chess boom has begun in Armenia. The whole of Armenia was watching the game of the great chess players, It was a chess holiday for Armenians. And it probably helped Armenia to become a multiple Olympic chess champion in the future.,

nice to see you’ve kept your promise to include a winning Petrosian game for once, and such a strong display of how attacking is done too! thanks for this!

Amazing control of critical squares with his pieces involving Forks and Pins by Tigran. All moves calculated precisely for maximum effect and all started from an equal Pawn position that, as you said, was changed by one simple move. This games clearly demonstrates how one must always be precise in every move. When one does not, then you get what happened to Capa when he played Alekhine in their Championship. This is a most important lesson that still must be followed today.

Brilliant! I think, in the end the retreat of the Queen to b8, where she was far away from the action contributed as much to Black's downfall as h6.

At 9:09, instead of taking the Pawn and check with the Queen. Maybe we can just fork, just in case the King goes back and escapes the fork

Mr. Dawg, I sure do appreciate you and your clear analyses of chess. I have been playing chess for half a century, but that doesn’t mean I am good at it. For years, I have enjoyed grandmaster games, and have always been ok with not understanding each game. After all, these guys are of historic chess level, right? But you do a simply fabulous job of explaining in terms that make it all possible for me. Petrosian is one of my favorite players, and you have helped me understand this gem of a game,as you have so many other great games. Thank you, Hombre, you are an awesome teacher!👍

I believe that, although not an expert, of the present super GMs, it is Wesley So who resembles Petrosian's playing style the closest.

Even with that pawn push on h file, you showed yourself that Smyslov still had chances (he made 2 repetitive moves that wasted tempos so he didn't do himself favors) so I am not sold on the idea that one SINGLE pawn move cost Smyslov this game. 8:31, well, yeah, he did have a choice. He could have taken white's queen instead and just dealt with that bishop check later. get that dead light squared bishop into action and so on. Maybe it's still lost but question becomes ... are we now to conclude that this kind of pawn push is always to be avoided because black lost? I mean, he ALSO pushed another pawn out so... was that 2nd push CAUSED by the first? I don't know! I'm not chess smart enough. I just watch these commentaries to remind myself I suck at chess. :) Keep up the nice commentary! I can follow the game but if I had to do the moving.... I would not know what piece to move where.

If I may suggest, please fit in the frame yourself at chest level. There's too much headroom above. 😊
