I have cured a similar problem by erasing the codes in the on board diagnostics with an OBD2 scanner another cause could be a broken earth wire on the fuel filler - it earths the vehicle to the garage’s petrol pump try deleting the codes in the OBD first they don’t start if the earth is broken unless it touches together as the car vibrates 1:20 during startup this causes an intermittent fault and is unlikely to be the problem on yours.
I thought immobiliser straight away, then the curve ball came with the elm reader. Don't know why it would let the engine start. I have one of those code readers and you can leave them in. So it'll run. Have you looked to see if any codes are thrown up. Try and let's know how you get on. Good luck.
I had some water moisture in the panels with plugs under the dashboard underneath the dashboard speaker at the driver side. Its was "green" corrosion on the plugs, who caused some electrical problems. You have to remove the dashboard, its fairly easy to do, only three screws. Some of the other problems was , Reverse light stayed on while the engine was off and in neutral. Used some electrical cleaner and pressured air on a can to clean it. The car started fine afterwards.

Das ist der Transponder im Schlüsselgehäuse der bei Umbau eines neuen Gehäuses fehlt daher muss der Transponder des alten Gehäuses unbedingt wieder in das neue Schlüsselgehäuse.
@@kevinhancock4064 yes, theres also the earths go to a plate below the radio, best seen with dash top off but im sure it can be checked without going this deep,im thinking the box hes using is creating an earth so everything is working once its in,i did find a plug not fastened properly on the speedo back last year causing intemittant immobilisor issues but this is killing dash display also so check my points made
@Mandy Moo ah ok thanks....I've (costs covered ) 9rdered a replacement key as his key is not healthy. To hopefully eliminate immobiliser issue ..I'll change transponder obviously . .....I'll run tests on crank and cam.sensor . I've got some figures to go off so it's a start . Crank I believe only has 2 wires cam has 3 (3 pins) .....the 3 pin will have a signal wire around 4/5 volts . A switch live 12+ volts and and earth . As it appears a no spark issue I'm going with those 4 now
@Mandy Moo it turns over but sounds as of it'll start occasionally but don't .....spark at cylinder 1 . I tho8ght at first bad ignition coils but it's not those. If its not an immobiliser issue. I'm going with crank /cam.sensor . I can test those but awaiting new multimeter
