I think long term reliability is the issue. Most Peugeot have issues with the engine and electronics and finding parts is a nightmare. But it is a good looking car
No they don't that was the case years ago. Peugeot engines are used by BMW and other brands. Perception and reality are two very different things. For example the 3 cylinder engine in this has won a lot of engine of the year awards and is said to be the best in the world in terms of efficiency and reliability. Especially when compared to the VW derived engines. In Europe that's why these cars are more popular then their VW counterparts. That's what people in SA need to learn
No, unreliability in these newer Peugeots is just a myth. As the one commenter just said. It is just perception that they're unreliable. That may have been true for a short while. In the 2000s. Now, the "bad French brands" must compete with popular manufacturers like VW, Kia, and Hyundai. So they have upped their game . You can't offer substandard vehicles and expect to compete in a market. Peugeot still exists today here in South Africa. With regards to parts there is a huge investment of local supply of parts. And they will continue to exist. The haters can stick to their boring Kias and Toyotas and Hyundais. They don't know what they're missing out on with European design, engineering, and quality.
