Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi - Starter Motor Location

It's not just the 307. It's on the same place on all the 1.6hdi's. The 407 (mine) some Fords, Citroens, Mazdas etc.. I just started at mine a few minutes ago and then it started pissing rain so I'm taking a break. Did you did it? from the top or underneath?

Joe O Sullivan I did it, it's kindof tight. Mine had worn out brushes.

It was a pain in the arse I got mine off from underneath, and then dragged it out through the top I also pulled the black vacuum box off and buggered my turbo though - Despite refitting, it never worked again, and I pretty much ruined my turbo

@Steve Eddie i been looking every where for my bopper starter video or any help even paid for one of them download manual it had everthing but starter motor replacing info till u guys i am 3rd day in got two bolta of but third is i think coming from other side never buying this shite again good old toyota done them in couple of hours max with time to sip tea with this felt like banging my head on gearbox

How did you do it ?

@@lanky_leon1549 I had to cut down a alan key which I fitted a small spanner to allowing me to reach up from underneath to release the last nut at the top of the starter motor

Using a toddler or small child, shove their hand up past the sub frame, double back and link up to the 3 securing bolts Find a flex-wrench that allows you to undo a bolt that has been designed to be the last thing to be removed from the car Undo the 3 bolts securing the solenoid to the gearbox - Try not to lose any of them, even though there is a 9/10 chance of this happening Once removed, tug the starter motor, and begin the long arse task of wiggling and manoeuvring it through the engine bay to find a gap large enough to fit it through (I had to remove the battery etc, and bring it up through the top When it comes to refitting I'd just give up and scrap the car

@@user-lq6er9fv4f mine has a petrol engine, but it's located in the exact same place, is it necessary to remove the air filter which is located just above the starter to have acess to all three fixation bolts

Because there wasn't a video showing the location, and the Haynes manual is less than clear. This is a crappy unedited video that has amassed thousands of views, so... why did you bother commenting?

Trying to get to the starter on my 1.6 hdi 2012 Berlingo and it’s a proper pig to reach. Do you know if it’s be easier to access and remove it from below or up top?
