I know your pain with the keyless entry, as well as my dog. When I get outside, my car is parked close to the entry and my dog knows how to trigger the boot release sensor under the bumper. So every time I open the front door, my car unlocks, with sound which my dog thinks it means taking him to socialise with other dogs, so he would go to the car, trigger the boot release with his giant Cane Corso head under the bumper and it would jump into my freshly cleaned boot. 😂😅
I just sat in one at my local dealer...the infotainment was superb and fast....and wireless android auto is a bonus....gonna have a test drive . Cannot wait to get rid of my golf 8.
Another great review/ presentation! I would like to suggest something for the review: most of the new cars have crazy lights inside and outside. It would be useful to see a short night clip with the interior and exterior lights and look just for reference! (I enjoy that your reviews remain short and full of information! :) )
Great suggestion! I'll take it into account. TBH I tried a couple of times, but it seems I'm not very good at night shots (or my camera isn't great). Too much grain. Looks awful.
Standard Marek review, therefore v good indeed: informative, structured , worded carefully without paying toll in respect of verve. The car looks good, the price looks too high, like in the 508 PHEV. Good they implemented things long awaited for in their own house in this segment. Over the air update due for the proximity lock/unlock system, likewise a bit of blue collar or even better taxy job to car designers, so to connect their fantasy to the ground. Do they drive the cars they design?
Greetings from Finland Marek. Thanks a lot for amazing reviews, always looking forward to watch new videos. One question please: Have you ever thought to make videos about second hand cars? Not everybody can effort buying new car, how about to make video for 3-5 year old cars reviews in D, SUV or any other segment ? Have a wonderful weekend.
Yes, but I'm not sure how relevant is listing all possible issues mentioned on forums. A second hand car is as good, as its owner was to it. You can find a beater, or a pristine example. And finally, I don't want to show stick footage. I'd need to source a real used car to show wear and tear (if any), to drive it for a couple of days, etc. Used car dealers are not in the business of lending cars to reviewers, and I don't want to drive viewer cars for insurance reasons.
Given the sales figures of PSA in Europe recently, 208 before Polo, 2008 ahead of Tcross, 3008 ahead of Tiguan and this despite the dominance of the German market, which somewhat distorts the statistics, in Wolfsburg they must be worried and say that the new 308, DS4 and Astra are hardly on the market. Buyers do not seem to agree with your rewiews
I don't know. I'm still waiting for the Astra to arrive in Poland. The Stellantis press fleet has some delays due to just about the entire universe taking a crap on them :)
It seems to be a theme with Peugeots these days that I wouldn't stand owning one, but I hope I'll meet them in the street because how beautiful they are - especially the metallic green.
@@emptyMan0 Peugeot as a brand is more reliable than Volkswagen and Volvo and Renault? But yeah, overall all these mentioned car brands are crap compared to Lexus and Toyota, BMW, Mazda or Mercedes reliability wise.
My friend's family collected her 2008 a few weeks back. On the way home, the infotainment system froze. No way to reset it - we tried pushing and holding every button. Thankfully, the AC was stuck on 18 deg C and high fan. (This is a tropical country and the daytime temp is currently 30-38 deg C.) We brought it down to Peugeot a few days later on Monday. They reset it and said that if it happens again, they may have to replace the entire system. Make of that what you will.
If you ask ME, I think the MINI Countryman seems to be the best there is on the market at the moment. As far as compact hatchbacks are concerned, I'd go with KIA for value and simplicity. And if I could find a new Mk7 Golf, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
@@MarekDrivesENG We're on the same page regarding Golf Mk7 and Mk8 - it's a disgrace what has become of VW. Thanks for the reply, and keep up the good work; your reviews and video releases are the ones I'm actually looking forward to currently 😉
How is the suspension? I just start to look for a new car and I'd rather prefer comfortable ride. Can you compare it to Mazda 3, Octavia, Golf, Civic ? ps. It would be great if you do a review of 408, it looks gorgeous, but it seems the 1.2 petrol will be too small for it.
I love the old 308s. like 1990s. Very squarish look. And that 505. They just remind me of my youth when I first visited Europe. Gooood times. I was kind of crazy back then. I'll tell you some stories when we ever meet Marek. LOL. Anywho. This is a very cool design. But isn't that pricing a little rich? And since you are so connected now with the OEMs, Can you ask VW why the Canadian dealerships are telling me over a year to get an ID4 AWD? Some are saying 18months to 2 yrs!!!
309 or 306. I used to have the latter. Crazy Euro-trip stories? Now we HAVE to meet :) Yes, the price is over the top. When I bought my 306 it cost about 14k CAD versus at least twice that today. I don't know what's the waiting time for VW, but Skoda is taking orders for Q1 -Q3 2023, so Canada is no worse, than anybody else I guess. Also that burning abandoned ship with VAG products on board won't help cutting down on waiting time. BMWs are delivered with parts missing. That's a story I will tell you, when we meet :)
@@MarekDrivesENG I have a friend at BMW head office. He told me about that. The wait times for the US are a lot shorter than here. Maybe they are flooding the American market.
One of the best looking cars but for the same price i can get the bmw 1 series which engine wise and future re-sell prices is for sure on another level
I'm sure you are. Unfortunately they forgot to add this on the 308. It's not in the manual, and the Peugeot product person said it's not possible to disable it on the 308.
The Only important design when you approach this new generation of peugeot cars, is the design of your wallet. They give you only 2 years guarantee for a reason. They are pretty cars, no doubt.
The fuel consumption is quite impressive - on the negative side! My 8 year old Toyota (estate with more room by the way) does significantly better. But yes, Peugeot design is one of the best at the moment. 👍
got my 180 phev, i m at 1600km now, average 2.9L/100km (electric mode during the week) , 6.1l/100 on long trips (350/600km) ( battery charged at the start), 20°C
Are Peugeots common in Poland? here in Sweden is Peugeot (Citroen and Opel too) available only as commercial vehicles, Peugeot’s passenger cars are not available on the swedish market… 😄
Quite common. Number 14 among top selling brands in 2021. Mind you BMW, Mercedes and Audi were in top 10. Mainly thanks to business sales. Most new cars in Poland are company purchases, and that includes people like me, who can deduct some of the business expenses.
Jag är inte helt säker på var du har fått den informationen ifrån men iaf i mellansverige och neråt så finns det personbilsförsäljning av peugeot, citroën och opel. Vet inte hur det är i norra Sverige dock
I just had the Opel Grandland X with the same Engine for a week as a rental car from my company. I did not charge it so it's range was limited to about ~350km so I told our secretary, please order me a diesel next time.
you should have spend at least 10 minutes on the cup holders!!!! they look great!.... and of course its sarcasm.... the ones who have a Peugeot (i have a 208 -2019-) they know what PITA* this subject is!!!! (*Pain In The "ASphalt")
I know it's long been said that all cars in any particular class look like one another, but...really this is a BMW 1-series doppelganger (or Hyundai i30...or Ford Focus) and I don't mean that in a generous way. The Pug even gets BMW's RWD-legacy cramped rear footwell, courtesy of that transmission tunnel. As for the fuel consumption, Peugeot have been on another planet for years when it comes to their official figures. Show me who gets 92mpg out of their previous generation 308 diesel, for instance. I'll never be convinced about the practicality of EVs or plug-in hybrids - there's the upfront cost, the strain on the electricity supply grid, the dodgy chargers and the extra time needed to cover any distance. Toyota might get stick for still offering 'self-charging' hybrids, but at least they're honest: you can do a mile or so on the batteries at low speed and then you need to get some brake recuperation. For that wonder, you still have to carry around a lot of extra mass - and the batteries will still degrade, although the effect will never be as bad as on plug-ins and pure EVs. Give me diesel any day.
@@allanbriggs807My point exactly - nobody gets the claimed economy. I have a 2014 Fiesta 1.6 Econetic diesel (also theoretically capable of nearly 3L/100km) and I drive like a saint, but over two years (40k km) have averaged 3.9L/100km, which is a huge difference. I'm not disappointed - I knew I'd never get such good figures because the testing regime was set up to favour cars with stop-start and hybrid technology. I always remember the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was marketed as achieving below 2L/100km, but that ignored the cost of electricity and also proved that it could do almost the entire test cycle on electric power only. Pie in the sky stuff. In the real world, diesel is better than petrol and hybrid/electric is only for urban posers with too much money, who never need to go more than a few miles a day and don't care that their car cost 50% more.
I was comparing these two (hybrid versions) 308 and octavia and I was biased towards 308 so that I am getting one. What makes you think that it is better value? They are basically the same price so what makes Octavia so much better in your opinion? I know that I was basically choising it solely on the design xD and while I know that I am not gonna regret it… I have heard about some tech issues. Is that it?
Maybe it is because I am old but I find these generation of Peugeot cars too extroverted. I prefer to go unnoticed. Also, I have serious doubts about its ergonomics. Again, completely unrelated, my hearts freezes seeing what it's happening so close to your borders. It reminds me so much to the steps that led to WWII.
I'm glad you know more, than Peugeot do. Perhaps you should consider consulting for them. The answer I got from PSA is: no, you can't, we may consider it in one of the future software updates.
I’m pleasantly surprised by new Peugeots. Last week I rented a 2008 GT HDI in Munich, in the same blue color, but it has more in common with the 308. It was comfy, really quiet, economical and it looked good. I hated the brake pedal's feel, which was too soft and too strong. The HDI was a bit rough and noisy. Seat heating was scorching even on the weakest setting. ECO setting on the highway was handy as it has the sailing/gliding function. I drove to Kitzbuhel and the traction in the snow was not satisfactory at all on Uniroyal winter tires. The drive assist was helpful but not as good as the one in Volvos. I will rent a 2008 again in Lisbon next month, but I don’t think I will ever buy one (at EUR 38.000). And what’s with the new logo? It looks like it belongs on men’s spray deodorant in a gym locker room.
@@MarekDrivesENG Sure, I get it. What I am not sure about is the shape of it. Most of the lines on the car are sharp, but the logo is rounded. It just doesn't work for me (but that is of no consequence for Peugeot:). I wonder how long they keep it like this.
As someone who owns a 308 (last gen) and a Honda Civic (1.5 with 182ps sport) I just can't justify the cost of this car - for less money you can buy a Cupra Formentor fully loaded, Octavia VRS also fully loaded, Type R also fully loaded, and if you want something more luxury there's a lot of options - this is just way too much for this car, unless you buy one of the entry level options which are just crap tbh...
Seems like a beta version of the car TBH. Maybe it'll be polished by updates in a year or so. First it was games and now they're selling cars with unfinished software.
The design is ultimately ruined with completely unnecessary badges everywhere and that ridiculous chrome fake exhaust. The contrast color on the roof is misaligned with the windshield/pillars and should have extended wider.
I don't. I really don't like the design, too much complicated, it looks broken or smashed. I haven't seen one in real life so I might change my mind. This design is far too much complicated but still a bit better than the very bland previous 308. Specially the wagon was completely bland and boring in terms of looks. Now for shopping hooks... Curiously my 2009 C4 has lots of them, even a while ago I noticed 2 extra I never realised where there and my second car, the B4 Passat.... Estate..... Didn't come with any! Now it does.
I have spent time admiring this design since I am getting SW hybrid 308. And I think if you spend little more time in person it doesnt look cluttered. But maybe thats me. Interior perhaps is where some might really dislike it. And as for the shopping hooks, I am confused since I have seen new 308 with them. And I once checked it again in a video so maybe they are only on SW? So I reeeally hope they have those in the SW at least…
@@TuomioK no idea about the shopping hooks.... I maintain my opinion, a very confused design. The previous one was too bland, this is overcomplicated but if you like it, you like it. It is not a bad car, go for it!
Very unfair reviews again from Uk reviewers, I understand now why he said he would prefer buy a Kia Ceed.. than a new 308🤣 Joke of the year. I understand now why every Europeans reviewers and reviewers from here in Belgium joking about the bad and unfair british reviewers with them bad tasty about cars from France and Germany. This 308 is a masterpiece, a Chef d’oeuvre and cost -2000€ than a VW on the same segment. But 308 is far better in design, French technologies, price and French quality from VW hard plastic
These infotainment systems , touch bars, integrated climate control in todays are a such a nightmare. They should be banned from the automotive industry since they are first of all not intuitive, laggy and frustrating a most important dangerous while driving!!! I don't know who in they world would like this trend...
