How to remove and repair the driver’s electric window switch block from a Peugeot 406 or 607.
Typically what will happen is the driver’s side window switch button will become unresponsive, or do weird things such as go down when it should go up or vice versa.
It is an easy DIY job to remove the switch block open it up and clean the contacts inside it, the contacts can get dirty, from general use, or in some cases if the window has been left open for some time the moisture can cause corrosion on the contacts within the unit.
The driver’s side window unlike the other windows on the switch block has a one touch feature where if pressed fully down or fully up will cause the window to automatically open or close fully. The other switches are just momentary toggle switches and rarely give any trouble. In order to achieve the one touch function for the driver’s side window the design of this switch is different using a silicone ‘pad’ with contacts on it, these contacts press down and bridge dimples on the PCB.
This is how it was on the 406 and 607, newer Peugeot or Citroen cars with one touch operation all around probably use this layout for all the electric window switches.
This video itself was part of work I was doing on this 607 to fix problems with its electric windows, which also involved removing and repairing the window regulator.

Thanks a lot! I did that on my 406 yesterday. A small remark is that WD-40 is not ideal here in my opinion. After I used it the mirrors wouldn't go down, turns out WD-40 was still on the contact in a small amount and kinda did an isolating layer. Kontakt 60 is good, or as you've done with wipes.

Thank you! The switch is probably very, very similar in my Citroën C5, so I will try to repair it. It became bad after I forgot the window open in the heavy rain.

I think the C5 has one touch on all 4 windows because it was sew faunseh haha. Although yes, you would simply have 4 sets of contacts to clean up.

Thanks for the comment and the suggestion. Haha haven't seen too many C3's here, bought and sold a couple of 1.4 petrols but wouldn't say they are very common. Nice wee cars all the same. There isn't really too much that is complicated on them.

@@CiniMini69 What back axle do they use? Was it the torsion bar or the simpler arrangement found on the likes of the 307?

Hi there, as far as i am aware no. The PCB itself is not designed that way, well possibly if you drill holes to be able to solder the mechanical switches in place, but im not sure how well that would work or how the electronics would react to the one touch function

Hello Teacher! How are u doing? I got a problem with my peugeot 406 Odometer. My car has 300 000 km but it is showing not properly like something damage. Can u please tell me what I need to replace inside the Odometer's meter. The digital number is not showing the 3. U only see a little stripe. Thanks in advace. Greetings.

Hi Sounds like an issue with the contacts at the back of the LCD display, they do come off and can be swapped but i dont know if they can be repaired.

I have an 2014 expert my drivers side is doing similar. The auto doesn't work only goes up in small increments when pulling the button to the second section first section does nothing. Sometimes goes down when you press up etc. Passenger button on the drivers side works fine. Do you think this sounds like needs a clean on the board?

Hi there, sometimes with the window only going up in small increments it could be that the window has not had the anti pinch reprogrammed for the window. If the battery was disconnected then this can usually be expected. It might be mentioned in the handbook and a quick google will define the process. I think from memory you put the window fully down and then hold in the down button for 5 seconds, then bring the window to the top, when it reaches the top hold the button for up in for 5 seconds. Its worth a try first. Failing that then there could be some corrosion or dirt inside the switch that may need to be cleaned.

Hello again! I have a little different problem with my controller. Suddenly it happend that I can lift up and down the drivers window but none of the others. And the passenger mirror are not in function. My PP2000 say that there are no communication with the driver door ECU and central locking are dead. Do you think the panel is the problem or do you think it can be broken cables between the door and the rest of the car? Hope you have a tip to me. It's a 607 2001 2,2HDI model Norwegian registrated.

Do the windows on the other doors work when the buttons on those doors are pressed? Its a strange one, i don't think its the switch block itself although if there is an ECU in the door it could have failed or a wire may have broke going to it. If you are on facebook look up the peugeot enthusiasts group, it may be better asking on there as there are more 607 owners, i no longer have a 607 i moved back to a 406.

Hello. I think it can relate to a fuse. I have been searcing the electric scematics and there are 5 different fuses in the cabin that relate to the control box. So today I will check all fuses and see if I can find a broken one! Thank's for your reply anyway! Regards, Geir Kristiansen

great job. can u help me. does the console or switchbox from a 406 fit in a 607? in looking for a 607 mechanism but they are rare.

lunatrics Ive never went and actually tried to make one fit the other but i have worked on both and the basic 607 switch feels the same as a 406, fancier 607s have one touch windows all around which the 406 never got

@@boooshannon Yes although its worth noting that most 607s had folding mirrors as standard. Whereas it was only fitted to top spec Executive trim 406s. The mirror control will rotate to where it points backwards to engage the folding mirrors. If you get a switch panel from a 406 that is not an executive you will not be able to fold your 607 mirrors.
