Your issue sounds like the issue you get when you disconnect the battery and dont use the proper procedure for reconnecting. You can retrain your windows. From windows fully up turn the key to just before the starter motor engages. Roll the window right down to the bottom then all the way up. Bit by bit. Switch ignition off wait a bit then start the car and test the windows. If that fails reset again by following battery disconnect procedure: (drivers window down, switch off, wait at least 3 mins for the computer to go to sleep. Disconnect battery. Wait 5 mins. Then reconnect making sure all doors are closed so there is no power surge when reconnected. turn the ignition on without starting. Reach in through the open window and switch the side lights on. That will wake up the ECU without damaging it. Test your windows again using the first procedure. Up down up switch off, test. It worked from me, hopefully will for you as well. But no guarantees.

@@bunnybr thanks for the reply, I followed your steps in the video and all seems to working fine again, but I'll make a note of the other steps in case the windows play up at a later date.

I used contact cleaner to clean, but you can use iso propanol (rubbing Alcohol) The idea is to remove film that builds up on the switch contact surface and electrically insulates it stopping it from working. Wet and dry is a fine sanding paper which can be used with or without fluid. Some times there is green corrosion which requires wet and dry to cut through the corrosion. Good luck with your repair.

Tim Allen Glad to hear your windows are now working. I think 5 th gear can be fixed without taking the gearbox off. I haven't done it myself but it happened to a friend of mine and it was repaired in under an hour. So not a difficult job.

I am glad the video helped you out. I have the 2 406's a 2003 with 250000 and a 1999 with 155000. I have had it for 14 years. Both still on the road. Yours is just a youngster with loads of life left.

+Neil Mcintosh WD 40 will work just fine, as in any other situation :))) As a matter of fact, I did a dry only sanding with 2000, couldn't find 1000 at the moment. I don't think wet sanding has a purpose on this operation. Hope I answered your question, have a great evening!

+Neil Mcintosh in my case i used a 90% alcohol. But i do this operation periodically due to the design window - water drops dropped onto the buttons! Sorry for late answer!

Why do you want to fit a new flap. If it because the flap wont open when you pull the lever. In this case I would attach a spring to one of the screws. The extra pressure pushing on the door pops it open. Worked for me. But to take it right off, I never worked that one out yet. No need.

the fuel flap got lost but have found out how to fit new one it is easy, just tap up the pin until the thin parts of the pin come in sight then click on flap and tap pin back down job done.
