Spring has sprung, so it's time to drag the project cars out of winter hibernation. The priority is the Peugeot 406 Coupe, so the bumper is being repaired by ‪@AdamWhite‬ while attention turns to the mechanicals and rust. Fun times ahead.

Looking good and glad you are making progress with the restoration. I have 6 of these at the moment 4 completed restorations and 2 left to go so if you need any advice or parts (built up quite a stock over 20 plus years!) let me know!

Your low brake fluid warning message is most likely not due to actual low brake fluid, rather an oxidised contact in the handbrake switch. The switch shares some circuitry and gives this anomolous message. The switch itself is simple to replace under the cover behind the handbrake lever.

on owners forums people say they usually go bad once a year or so, so if you can stock them up

Nice to see you back and with something french too. Funny how I've sat down to watch a video where you talked about car covers having just put a cover on my 97 Mégane Coupe for the first time which I've been working in since November.

Hello Mark. How much work have you done? Will you be using the car this year?

@@Petrolblog A fair bit of work. After a n electrical issue was resolved the car now runs again. Done a service and replaced fuel filter, radiator, hoses etc... Timing kit, drive belts and water pump next then hope to tax it either April or May. I'm thinking of having a go myself at doing some extremely novice video on it.

@@Petrolblog Think I probably will. The equipment available to film it is a bit primitive but between the Mégane and my Fiat 500 daily cars I'm sure I could do something just for fun. I don't have the time to build a Chanel with fresh content every week. Most of the Renault content n RU-vid isn't in English so would be a bit of a novelty.

I wonder how an RHD car can show error messages in German. Could be just an electronic gremlin and the low brake fluid level could be a duff sensor as well, I've driven a Peugeot 206 2.0 HDi three years from new and it would regularly reset all the dials while driving and the oil level meter was showing erratic behavious most of the time (until one time it was right! and noticed barely before destroying the engine that a clumsy dealer mechanic didn't screw the oil filter and sump plug tight)

The daughter of the previous owner showed me how to change the language. It's pretty straightforward. Going to use it to brush up on my German while I fix the car.

@@Petrolblog Do a round up, make a decision to cut the fleet in half. Keep the ones which evokes an emotional response or feels doable to complete. Having 13 weighs you down and makes it feel overwhelming.

Well, one vehicle will almost certainly be leaving very soon. As for the others, the plan is to get the 406 and red Safrane on the road before making any decisions. But you’re right - a smaller fleet would be much easier.

Did the 406 Coupe come with Centre caps?

It did - they’re in the boot. Just easier to leave them off when the wheels are being taken on and off.

have you got any idea about the fuel consumption on the 406 coupe 1.8 version. I cannot find enough info about this version at one point i thought it was just a typo error haha

They didn’t make a 1.8 coupe. 2.0/2.2/3.0 petrol and 2.2 diesel.

As Ferrari Rides says, the 1.8 engine wasn't available on the Coupe, just the saloon and estate.

@@eventhorizonv4817 they don’t make a 1.8 coupe. 2.0, 2.2 petrol, 2.2 diesel, 3.0 petroleum. They may have been advertised incorrectly? There was a 1.8 petrol 406 saloon and possibly the estate but not in the coupe.
