The new PEUGEOT 408 is positioned at the top end of the C-segment and offers extensive equipment that contributes to a pleasant and comfortable drive.
The front seats are particularly comfortable and have been awarded the AGR label (Aktion Gesunder Brücken e.V.) by an independent German association of ergonomics and back experts. The label recognizes both the ergonomics and the adjustment options of the front seats.
Depending on the version, the front seats can be equipped with 10-way electric adjustment with two memory settings for drivers, 6-way electric adjustment for front passengers and 8-way air massage with five different programs and seat heating.
The design of the seats highlights the quality of the materials used: structural fabric, mesh look, Alcantara®, embossed leather and colored nappa leather are available depending on the version. In the GT versions, the standard seats are equipped with characteristic decorative stitching in “Adamin” green, which also adorns the dashboard, center console, steering wheel and door panels.
Between the front seats is the center console, in which there is an inductive charging station (optionally available for Allure Pack and GT trim levels). The rest of the console is entirely dedicated to storage and convenience, with an armrest, two USB-C power outlets (one charge/data, one charge), two large-diameter cup holders and up to 34 liters of miscellaneous storage.
The space in the back seat is particularly generous thanks to the long wheelbase of 2,787 meters, making the new PEUGEOT 408 the most spacious PEUGEOT for rear seat passengers: you benefit from 188 mm of knee room. The footwell provides space for them to stretch their legs under the front row seats. It is designed for freedom of movement; The design of the seats and the seat angle should give passengers the opportunity to use their space comfortably while driving.
Two USB-C charging sockets in the rear area of the center console provide additional charging options from the Allure level onwards.
The new PEUGEOT 408 offers a two-part bench seat (40/60 split folding) as standard, which is equipped with a through-loading flap. In the GT equipment variant, the two parts can be folded down immediately using two easily accessible controls on the sides of the trunk.
The luggage compartment of the new PEUGEOT 408 is spacious. With both backrests folded down, the load volume increases from 536 to 1,611 liters (including 36 liters of storage space under the boot mat on the combustion engine versions). With the backrest folded down, an object up to 1.89 meters long can be loaded.
For everyday suitability, the trunk is equipped with a 12 V socket on the right trunk lid, LED lighting, a storage net, a belt and bag hooks. The trunk shelf is attached directly to the trunk lid. It remains attached to the trunk lid when it is opened, making loading easier. The sensor-controlled trunk lid (available as standard from GT trim level) is motorized to make access easier. It opens automatically:
by swinging one foot under the bumper,
by pressing the button on the transponder key,
by pressing the external control of the tailgate,
or by pressing a switch on the dashboard.
In the interior of the new PEUGEOT 408, the LED ambient lighting (choice of eight colors, available as standard from Allure equipment level) behind the center console provides a soft light and contributes to the elegant atmosphere of the interior. This light also extends to the door panels, which are covered in fabric, Alcantara® or real aluminum parts, depending on the trim level.
The temperature and acoustic comfort of the new PEUGEOT 408 is improved by the technologies used in the design and manufacture of the windows:
The windshield can be fully heated upon request (available as an option from the Allure trim level).
The thickness of the front and rear windows is 3.85 mm.
Side windows in row 1 made of laminated glass to increase sound insulation and safety (3.96 mm), in row 2 the rear windows are also more heavily tinted (from Allure Pack level).
