My e208 charges at 98KW when plugged in between 2 and 11%. It then drops to 90-95Kw for a bit. It is very close to matching the Fastned charge graph. You state you expected it to do 100KW upto about 80%. It would be achievable but only if you wanted an extremely short battery life. All most all EV have a stepped charge sequence to stop the battery getting too hot and pulling too many C rates. Even the mighty Tesla lower the charge rate at just over 50%- yes it does hold that rate much longer, as does an i3 yet lost have a more steeply raked graph.

My e208 has never reached more than 50% charge rate, 4 of the most regular chargers are over 100kw versions. When asked Peugeot about it they old me that the engine is 100Kw not the battery which is 50kw. No matter who I spoke to they were adamant that the rate of charge will never charge at that rate. I honestly think I have been misinformed from day 1 what the numbers are for engine / battery / charge rate. Everyone person I spoke to, even 3rd party sellers, had no real knowledge of how things work on EVs in general. I would have never bought the the car if I had known there was this fact. What would anyone here do about this? You would think I could get a refund for all the extra time I have waiting for charges that would have been a lot cheaper & faster.

I think those Instavolt chargers have quite a delay on the indicated power out, the e-208 has quite a steep curve. Still pretty impressive for a little car though!

Could be a battery conditioning problem. They have had problems with early models

My corsa e is same platform as you Its 100kw max average is 75kw so i read ( 75kw =229 mph)charging speed You never get the max speed to run constantly at 100 Need 150 max Shell 150 kw charger got there wth 50 miles left 80% in 30 min (229 mile per hr)=75 kw hr To get the claim range off 209 mile got to do 45mph At 60mph i get 180 mile range so 130 mile between charges 50 miles left

My understanding is that the car will only allow 100kw or rather around 97kw when the battery is under 22% charge 🤔
@seanbailey8545
@seanbailey8545 2 года назад
From what I've seen 100kw/97 between 2-22% SoC. Then throttles down from there.

It can charge at 100kW below 25% ;)

Is the price (£) at the top right of the screen how much you paid for the charge as £10+ seems an awful lot?! I'm looking at an e-208 but live in an apartment so would need to use public chargers at my workplace so am trying to figure out how much public charging typically costs. Thanks
@CoastalEV
@CoastalEV 4 года назад
Yes that is the cost - normally on a rapid charger from around 10% to 80% you normally pay £8 to £15. Depending on the network and how much charge you get. Destination chargers are slower but normally cheaper - supermarkets often have free charging 👍🏻

@@CoastalEV I got the e208 with on.to and it includes unlimited free charging (including rapid charging) with Shell Recharge, BP Pulse, Instavolt and Tesla supercharge (Elon musk recently tweeted that he's going to unlock this usage for other EV brands before end of 2021). Overnight 3 pin charging at my house costs 50p. Can't wait to sell my current car which is a BMW 116d, I actually haven't sat in it since the e208 arrived.

It may be an issue with the charger

I did contact InstaVolt but they said they had no issues with these chargers and they where working correctly.

Nice vid. Thx. Just wondering, can you schedule charging window (when to start & when to finish) when charging at home via peugeot app?
@CoastalEV
@CoastalEV 4 года назад
Thanks, you can set a start time but not end time - so it charges until it’s full. I do have a video about the app coming soon 👍🏻. I control my charging times via an app for my charger rather than the car.

@@CoastalEV be expecting that. Also been looking at ohme charger, which I'm sure you've heard b4. Not sure if that's needed for what peugeot has already offered via app.
@CoastalEV

All new home chargers should now be “smart” so you can select time of charge etc. The ohme charger is best suited to a variable electric tariff so you can set it to charge when the rates are low. Octopus Energy do a tariff called agile which tracks the wholesale price - share.octopus.energy/topaz-storm-502. If you get a octopus energy account you can get the ohme charger at a discount rate 👍🏻

@@CoastalEV thanks for the link. But there's a proper fully hard wired ohme charger, correct? How's that different to just the cable version? (from your link)

Hmmm... £10 / 100 miles is what i pay to put petrol in my car.
@CoastalEV
@CoastalEV 3 года назад
What you have to remember is that’s the price for you using a rapid charger. 95%+ of my charges cost me £2.50 or less for a full charge
@seanbailey8545
@seanbailey8545 2 года назад
Your most likely unless your going on a 400 mile trip, gonna use say 80-90% of your battery you charged at home for pennies. Then rapid charge for the extra bit of range you need to get to.

Hi, I'm going to have my e208 delivered in September, do you know if it is possible to set a maximum charge limit on the car? For example so the car won't charge beyond 80%. If so could you tell me how to set it, since I couldn't find it online or during the test drive.
@CoastalEV
@CoastalEV 4 года назад
Hi, unfortunately it isn't possible to set a max charging limit with the e208. With most Smart home chargers so can set how long you want it to charge for or you can set how many kW's you want to add - hope this helps.
@tzeimet
@tzeimet 4 года назад
@@CoastalEV Yes, that answers my question. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
@CoastalEV
@CoastalEV 4 года назад
That’s ok - what colour / spec have you ordered?
@tzeimet
@tzeimet 4 года назад
@@CoastalEV It's an active, Nera Black with only two options heated seats and rear parking sensors. It wasn't my configuration as such, it was a car the garage already had on order. They said if I were to configure a car myself it would likely only arrive in May 2021. In Germany EVs now qualify for up to 9k€ (8k£) of subsidies and every manufacturer is sold out.
@tzeimet
@tzeimet 4 года назад
@Matt and Lottie Yes, I was very surprised when the government announced the subsidy. There were rumours that the government would offer subsidies on new cars to help the auto industry during Corona, but I wasn't expecting them to favour EVs that much. (Plugins also get up to 6,750€). It's a good idea because it brings EVs down to the same price as a petrol car, the e208 costs from 21,000€ in Germany and 28,000€ in the UK.
