The Jets signing a future Hall-of-Famer to an elite roster and getting him to sign a sweetheart deal only for him to get injured on the 4th play of the season is the most Jets thing that could have possibly happened.
This game is the perfect defining game as a Jets fan. - Go crazy over potential HOF QB getting traded. - looks like it may not happen. - news dies about the potential trade. - time passes - all the sudden rumors emerge again. - buzz starts to grow. - media is in a frenzy - trade happens - media goes ape. - Jets fans going ballistic - excitement and hope permeates through fanbase. - build up to season is immense. - Rodgers loves being here - Team rallies behind him - Has a good showing in preseason - Hard knocks - anticipation mounting - week 1 arrives - 4 snaps into the season of 1st drive blows Achilles - fanbase crumbles, suicide watch begins - horrid retread backup enters game. - plays as he's always played, like a rookie. - Team plays spirited due to loss of HOF QB. - They win game in thrilling fashion - fans are blueballed and can't enjoy win due to trauma. - Team must now sign another QB. - misery and depression enters the chat - season is over - PTSD also enters chat. - dangles legs over balcony - pinches self to try to awaken from horrific dream - cries self to sleep. - concludes that his team is cursed and are never allowed good things. - he is right - drinks self into oblivion - debates with self about changing his team - Lay's head on pillow and says out loud "same old Jets
You never should've put so much stock in a 39 year-old QB in the first place, though. There's always a moderately high chance of something like this happening to guys that age.
@@ryanknight3273yeah that’s nice of you to say that, but Peyton literally said “oh Wilson still plays there?” We all know what he meant by that. Dude has not come CLOSE to his potential but tonight’s game was honestly good enough for him to keep playing and not look for a replacement to start ahead of him until A Rod comes back
Peyton was right. This is a “Are you hurt or are you injured!” moment. Tape that sh*t up, take two 800mg Ibuprofens, and get your as$ back in the game before next series of downs.
As a Bills fan, I was so hyped for this game. My heart goes out to all of Jets Nation and to the organization. Elite D, high-octane offense, HOF QB. This is not how it was supposed to play out. Hoping he fully recovers and steps foot on the field again....albeit in about two years' time.🙏
I was at the game a lot of classy bills fans for sure respect to you guys and if we are not in it you guys deserve that Super Bowl just as much as we do.
Felt this way seeing the Niners in the NFC championship last year. Was looking forward to that game- it was such a good matchup. Too bad many Eagles fans were shitty about it… but Philly’s gunna Philly I guess. Obviously the two scenarios are different in a lot of ways as well I get that lol. But Anyone who wasn’t disappointed isn’t a true fan of football. Btw, back in 2008, maybe 09, I went up to Buffalo to watch them play against the niners(I’m from CT, catching a niners game wasn’t easy unless I went to SF). Absolutely pathetic game, 3-0 niners lmao. Also was sleeting, so we just got wasted. But I had so so much fun with the Bills Mafia at the end of the game. Went crawling up this muddy steep hill just outside the stadium that a few of us tried to scale before sliding back down lmao. It was a good time. Wish all fans could be as fun as that.
Peyton with the 80s Quarterbacks roast!😂😂 Richard Todd is a former quarterback for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints from 1976 to 1986. Ken O'Brien is a former quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles. One of the six quarterbacks in the famed quarterback class of 1983
Just brutal man. Absolutely catastrophic. The biggest story from the off season, a new chapter for Rodgers career, a reinvigorated Jets team with fans and analysts talking about winning super bowls, and it ends 4 plays into the first game of the season. Months and months of build up and anticipation and planning for 4 plays. Heart breaking for everyone involved.
@@mg90q61 Nah that doctor they have it a fuckin wizard, i wouldn't be shocked if he takes the opportunity to retire but i also wouldn't be shocked if he comes back.
I think that was a low level comedy bit. Peyton is one of the most plugged in people in the world. He knows EVERY quarterback, their stats, and their dogs name.
@@VVojak At least one person is awake. Man some people are just too gullible to see it. Same thing with Tony Romo knowing all the plays before the snap. Wake the f up people.
Peyton and Eli's expressions here say so much about the love NFL QBs have for each other. Their hearts hurt for Aaron so much here. I love the comradery and brotherhood seen in the Bros' eyes in this moment.
I know it's just a game at the end of the day, but my heart goes out to Rodgers, his teammates, and Jets fans. As a fellow long-suffering fan of the Lions, you'd think I'd take some sick pleasure in this, but not even close. Was excited to see him ball out for the Jets, now that he was in another conference far away from my Lions. Glass half full, if the injury was going to happen I guess the earlier the better. The Jets now have to figure out if Wilson can get mashed in to form with Rodgers playing the part of coach, or if they can possibly pull a solid veteran out of retirement. This Jets team is absolutely stacked with talent on both sides, and can still be a playoff team and contender, they proved that last night.
@@davidsnyder4176 Bears? Haha. There’s just certain POS athletes. Rodgers is one of them. Screw the Bears, Lions, and Vikings oh yeah, and the Packers.
@@sethtenrecYeah dude he’s a real POS. Like all those sexual assault accusations. Or the video of him abusing his child. Or the video of him knocking his wife unconscious on camera and nonchalantly dragging her body like this was a routine thing. Or the time he proudly boasted to his girl that both she and his son should be terrified of him when she told him how terrified his 4 year old son is of him. Or the time he kicked a teenage girl in the face on camera because she allegedly refused to have sex with his friends. Oh wait… those were all other guys. Has Aaron done anything like what I just described? If not, then let’s keep the POS title for guys who really deserve it.
@@jonjhon8491 wow! Who lowkey pooped in your Depends?! There’s a distinction been the two expressions and no worries if you don’t get it. I’m not here to explain it to you, grandpa.
@@imnotyourfriendbuddy1883 and you definitely aren’t, son! Simmer down, lil buddy. We’re all here for football and fun! 😊 Besides I’m not even a boy, bucko! 😂
I'm 39, I work out, eat healthy and take care of my self. It took me 3 days to recover from raking leaves and laying down mulch. Aaron Rodger's ego is 28 years, his body is 39 lol. Lesson learned.
Start running daily, no sugar, green tea, and plenty of water. I know people may poke fun at this. I'm 39, the body doesn't act the same anymore. Sometimes muscle just ache like they didn't, even from walking awhile. Sometimes I feel 27 still, other times I feel 57. lol
@@xrumich3896 LOL. WRONG. “It’s very common for people to say, ‘How do you run? Doesn’t that ruin your knees?’” says Steven Mayer, MD, a physician in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern Medicine Orthopaedics. “There have been several recent studies that have debunked that myth. In fact, they have shown the opposite - that running tends to be protective of knee arthritis.” from the health Harvard: "The knees absorb a lot of force when running, so many people think that running itself can accelerate the natural wear and tear on the joints. But in fact, the medical research tends to show that running has a protective effect against arthritis. Studies of large numbers of men show that recreational runners have a lower risk of hip and knee arthritis. This effect is partly explained by the lower body weight of these men. Other studies that measure knee cartilage suggest that running may stimulate cartilage to grow, not wear it out." Running with an injury, that's different. Of course someone should consult with their doctor. Or any joint disease. Like arthritis.
Running is ATROCIOUS on your feet and joints as you get in your 40’s and 50’s. You will end up having a hip and/or knee replaced sooner or later. The human body is not built to withstand constant pounding on its joints like running causes. Yoga, walking, stretching, light weights are all MUCH better alternatives that running.
As a 42 year old about 5 months into my recovery from an Achilles tear, my heart goes out to Rodgers. Hate to see him go out like that. But that’s unfortunately probably curtains on a 39-year-old.
I feel so so bad for the Jets fans, coaches and the players. It is so hard to watch. All the hype and sold out crowd. I hope he is on Pat McAFee tomorrow for Aaron R Tuesdays. 😢
As a Vikings fan… I was finally going to able to root for Aaron this season. Sincerely hope it is not season ending. I was looking forward to watching a legendary run for the Jets.
Sure looks like an Achilles to me. That delayed sit down after they realize they can't flex their calf is how I've seen a lot of Achilles injuries look.
Those tendons and ligs aren't malleable as 25 at 40. He can't twist about cut like Barry Sanders anymore. Either you listen to the brain saying "adapt" old man or the body will tell you....the hard way!!
I remember when this happened i felt the same way Eli and Peyton did and thought he'd be back next drive, I fell asleep and woke up to the call that Wilson was marching the team out there. I wanted a first round pick damnit, but in all seriousness, I'm really bummed still that we didn't get to watch how Aaron worked out in New York this year. Hopefully these turf related injuries are going to cause these places to phase it out, if they're serious about player safety they can't keep doing this.
that's why when you are older as QB, if you see pass rusher coming in, there's no way you can outrun them..just fall down to min this kind of injuries.
Well said....Roger's tried to squirm away from sack...on that crappy turf?...he was his worst enemy..the play is over...pick your self up..dust your self off...live for another play.....should have went down.........thats on him.....Jests were lucky to come out on top....... the overated, out coached Bills gave the game away......😒
Agree, but Rodgers didn't even have a chance to do that. In slow motion you can see his Achilles rupture (calf muscle retracts and heel goes down) as his left cleat catches on the CrapstroTurf, before Floyd even really had a good grip on him - around the waist and nowhere near the legs or feet at all. This was turf-induced combined with 9+ years of degenerative Achilles tendinopathy.
Not really. Rodgers need to play at least 65% of all snaps this season for the Packers to get the Jet's 1st round pick next year. If Rodgers is out, the pick is downgraded to 2nd round.
As a bears fan who has suffered at the hands of rodgers for years I still don't want to see it like this. I want him to have a shitty season for sure but not an injury.
@@cameramike2515Almost everything Rodgers related off the field the last 3 seasons at a minimum. He's the smartest man in every room and he loves to troll. We get it.
I'm surprised more people aren't speaking about how the injury happened and the grass they are playing on. His foot got planted and caught up in the grass while trying to spin. If only they had real grass/dirt so his foot would have slipped through instead of getting tangled.
😅😅😅 did you not watch the Super Bowl last year? The grass at State Farm Stadium in PHX was real and the Chiefs/Eagles were slipping all over it. The turf ain’t the issue here…
All grass =/= whatever that shit Super Bowl grass was. Also, you're literally arguing *for* his point. Playing on grass it's possible Aaron's foot would've slid out while being tackled, rather than all the tension going into his achilles tendon. Playing on turf results in more injuries for not allowing enough cushion/slipping traction under extreme conditions. @@flanagamer 😅😅😅😅😅😅
The first rule for an offensive lineman is to block the guy running at the quarterback. How in the world do you manage to completely fail at this one task.
I watched it 20 times. Nobody hit that dude! He was never touched! He gets up, looks at the sidelines and goes down again. I'm saying this as a Saints fan. Craziest injury I've ever seen.
Torn Achilles tendon. Out for the season. If I'm Zack I'm sitting and standing next to Rodgers in every game , every moment learning everything I can from Aaron!
You've got to have a top notch line to protect a 40 something QB. He had free people rushing at him every play. Rodgers isn't supposed to be this brittle though!
😂😂😂Peyton funny af....I didn't know they had anyone else....put some tape on it and get back in there😂😂😂😂He's allowed to say whatever he wants being one of the greatest ever
@MetalJT24 Often, when a person strains their Achilles, they look around like they got hit with a rock. With KD, you can see his calf just roll up to his knee. This one was tougher to catch. It is a non-contact injury where the Achilles just decides to disengage from the Calcaneus. Result: Season over
Ruptured mine two weeks ago. Just popped while cutting at soccer and went down. Made no sense for me, and I wasn't be tackled by a giant football player. Just felt like someone kicked me in the back of the leg.
Achilles tendons are usually damaged from excess tension during ankle flexion. Front of his cleat became stuck square under him, and too much weight was leveraged against the flexed ankle by the defender. (Basically, the defender's weight pressed Rodger's heel to the turf when it wasn't supposed to be able to.) Could have happened to anyone.
I love how Eli just froze for a moment. I think that was the general feel. I mean the first five minutes?! Wow. Hope it isn't too bad. I also hope this will not be a second season of quarterbacks dropping like flies!
It’s unfortunate, but not unusual for guys who don’t get enough reps during the preseason. The speed of the game during the regular season is different, which is why Brady and Mahomes always played meaningful minutes in the preseason. That way, they could hit the ground running on opening day. Hope it’s just an ankle sprain.
Yea, I don’t think he will be back at all. If it’s a surgical repair, that often takes 9-12 months. That’s hard to come back from for a 30 year old, very hard for a 40 year old. His clock was ticking before the injury, this is sad.
The saddest part about this is all of the fans next to him on the stretcher with their phones out recording him. People are so disconnected from reality now 👎
Not really it’s a piece of history watching Rodgers go down at his keys debut. They’ll always have that video on their phone. I don’t see anything wrong with it
