Elliot is the meanest, darkest persona of a “60’s tv series leading good guy” possible. I still maintain Connie was lucky to be rid of him 21 years ago. And I couldn’t believe she would marry the biggest hothead in PP. And, how many days in a row after Christmas will Kelly’s kid where a Santa suit?
Jill strikes a chord with Steven. I haven’t seen Steven smile for a long time. Although Jill was rude at first(all Steven’s clients so far are ultra rude to him) I think Steven likes her determination and independence, the characteristics that drew him to Betty
Steven's secretary, who may or may not LOVE children / babies, is abruptly forced from her duties as secretary and receptionist to . . . that of baby sitter -- on her employer's dime. While the possibility is the former -- secretary gets a charge out of children (the most blessed creation) -- and Steven has a soft spot for babies too, the office is taking a hit financially with these unexpected freebies as portrayed in this scene. Steven's doing a freebie with a destitute individual, Jill, and his secretary is put upon to put aside her office duties to look after dear Kelly -- 'on the house.' Admirable actions of boss and employee both although I'm skeptical the immature Jill realizes that.. If Jill seeks the help of a legal professional, as Dr. Rossi indicated to her Steven Cord, attorney at law, was, she should soften up and get rid of the 'chip on her shoulder' vibes. "Once again, thank you, 'SoapsNthings,' for another 'freebie' of well written, directed, acted and produced compelling entertainment."
I am guessing Jill has met Allison. That’s why she asked for Dr Rossi to attend to her baby that first night she arrived. And now she mentioned Allison’s name to Connie
+Billy Hurley Damned good question. There were multiple storylines where they'd tease us regarding Allison's possible return, but it never actually happened. Since they was probably a 1% chance Mia would ever return to resume her role, recasting (or killing the character off) seemed like the best alternatives, looking back.
the actress who played Rachel would had been a perfect recast but she too would leave the show....Kathy Glass and then Pamela Susan Shoop(i think thats her name) did a good job as a recast Allison in the daytime version...
With Leigh Taylor-Young they chose to,in Paul Monash's words,"working on a substitution of sorts." She had a contract, but because of her pregnancy-which resulted in a quick marriage to Ryan O'Neal- the contract was terminated(the,"Act of God,"clause). I never saw the daytime Peyton Place-and the first reunion movie left something to be desired.
recasting Steven Cord with David Hedison instead of James Douglas makes sense (now): had James Douglas returned, the audience would have expected more involvement with Steven..ditto with Stella Stevens as opposed to Lee Grant as Stella Chernak, and the audience would have been disappointed since both original actors had such big parts in the series...overall, i,too, was non-plussed by MIPP in '77..i saw PP: TNG when it first aired in 1985 and haven't seen it since - and don't have any immediate plans to watch it.......
Mia Farrow was totally identified as Allison with the public. It would have been like recasting somebody other than James Arness as Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke.
1. Why did Connie not tell Elliot that Jill Smith mentioned Elliot in the bookstore? 2. Why does Steven say 18 is a minor? (this is not the first time PP has said this) Was a minor under 21 at some point in the USA until a certain year?
So possibilities of the reality as presented by what I am watching episodically to do with Allison she and Rod were together although it seems ambiguous as to what really happened between them intimately in my opinion couldn’t there be a baby involved in her leaving as she was leaving town if it had not been ride she met up with Lee Weber as she was exiting and we know also that she was in the vicinity of Chandler various reasons that she may have been pregnant however that turned out they’re going to seemingly give us some representation of possibilities through this part of a storylineWhat are the reality is how it proved to be well certainly you have to observe in order to find out but the words of a new character Jill to Connie bespeak the attitude of Allison in terms of her being illegitimate being presented to Connie there by the philosophy presented to her father Elliot interesting storyline
