That girl playing the waitress sure gets around. She was a nurse at the hospital during the first season, now she works at a diner, and in a later episode, she works at the Cider Barrel. She was also Flora, Goober's girlfriend on The Andy Griffith Show.
Her name is Alberta Nelson. She appeared in a string of teen beach movies, including Beach Party, Muscle Beach Party and How to Stuff a Wild Bikini. Nelson played "Puss," one of the leather clad "Rat Pack" (aka "Rats & Mice") biker gang. On television, Nelson appeared four times on "The Andy Griffith Show" and guested on "The Dick Van Dyke Show."
when Carson gets upset. he always starts yelling instead of talking, though he is a good person, never controls outbursts and raptures like a bomb, such a contrast with always reserved Martin Peyton
democolor42 This plot of hers (amongst others with similar crazy ideas) must've been the writing on the wall that she wouldn't be with the show that much longer. Their way of writing her out since Leigh said she was quitting. What I could never understand was this: the show would re-do the introduction every so often with new visuals of the actors.......yet it was always "Dorothy Malone as Constance Mackenzie" and "Barbara Parkins as Betty Anderson". Huh? Connie became Constance Carson long ago, and Betty had been married twice at this point in the show but they always used her maiden name....yet Rita's married name of Harrington was reflected right away.
I have a theory, see what you think: Constance Mackenzie and Betty Anderson, were famous names from the novel and the movie, for too many years, to change or alienate those tuning into the tv show for the first time. Regular viewers know the scoop, but newbies should see the names they recognize from the famous predecessors. That’s my guess anyway.
3:02...5:13...I was truly moved by Rachel's talking to the baby with such affection. She was always lovely and sweet. Leigh was leaving the series because she was pregnant in real life.(Darn that Ryan O'Neal.) Perhaps in this scene she was rehearsing for later that year when she'd have her own child to love.
Why does that baby always look lethargic and dopey? They wouldn't use sedative's back then for filming baby scenes..yikes!?! In one frame the baby was nearly as big as Rachel when she was holding him. Thank God he was returned. I couldn't handle another long stretched out storyline. What a cool soap this is!
In the previous opening cast-intro, I liked it when Dorothy Malone squinted her eyes while smiling, ever-so-slightly, only a moment before it switched to Ed Nelson. She's just as beautiful in her new intro. I wonder why the others rarely change. I think there should've been 3 or 4 rotating intros for everyone. Rita, perhaps, could be removed. I like her fine but she doesn't seem too essential or important to the series as a whole.
