The Patriotic Front Party says it will politically and legally fight the nullification of the nine seats in Parliament.
Former President, EDGAR LUNGU says the party will stand with the affected parliamentarians to ensure that democracy, justice and the spirit of the rule of law is upheld.
Speaking during a Press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. LUNGU said as far as the law and democracy is concerned, the affected law makers were democratically elected to serve the people and are still part of the party.
The Former Head of State has also alleged that the recent happenings show that there is no respect for the separation of powers.
BUT Chief Government Spokesperson, CORNELIUS MWEETWA has dispelled assertions alleging that the UPND is involved in the expulsion of the nine MPs in Parliament.
Speaking in Namwala during a media engagement, Mr. MWEETWA said the nullification of the nine parliamentary seats is in line with the constitution and NOT the UPND Government.
Mr. MWEETWA, who is also Information and Media Minister, also wondered why the same Parliamentarians who were crying foul on the expulsion from the party are now accepting the forgiveness granted to them by PF president MILES SAMPA.
