The pens are having the same issue as the Red Wings years ago. Keep bringing in talent to prolong a rebuild until they couldn’t anymore. I’m sad about the loss. It hurts but tomorrow is another day. I was only 1 and 2 yrs old when Mario, Jagr and company won the Stanley cup. So I didn’t get to witness those. I became a fan when they were playing the Red Wings in 2008 and loss. It was just happen by chance because I was flipping through channels. I had no background in Hockey. Majority of my family likes Football and Baseball. After that loss in 08. I started watching them ever since. Watching them win in 2009 was amazing. Then back to back in 16 and 17. I finally got to see them in person back in February in Columbus. Then made the trip to Pittsburgh for my birthday to a home game and it was a amazing experience that I will never forgot. The sun will rise again in Pittsburgh. When they do a full on rebuild. Hopefully it won’t take too long and Crosby can win another cup before retirement. I bid you fans a great season and looking forward to many more memories with you all.
Yeah this is the most heartbreaking loss in the 87 era. Up 3-1, leads in each elimination game, badly outplaying the rangers, Crosby and Guentzel were back in their insane playoff form, 4 first round exits in a row, and this time we played great and did everything we had to do to win a series and easily deserved to win but we just couldn’t do it for whatever reason. All the injuries didn’t help either especially having to play an AHL goalie. But if we can’t win this series which was BEGGING to be won by us idk how we’re supposed to win a different series. I’m don’t even care that we’re not winning the cup, all I wanted was a fun playoff run and we should still be playing rn but somehow we’re not. Whatta sad choke job

My favorite moment of this season was going to the pens game in seattle with my billet family who were huge kraken fans and who were always giving me shit and chirped me whenever the penguins lost and watching the pens blow them out 6-1. It was the game guentzel blocked a shot with his hand and hurt it but came back and absolutely sniped for his second of the game. This team was special and I really thought that this was the year we were gonna do it again. What an era and it sucks to have the potential last two years of it getting fucked over in the playoffs while outplaying the other team. I feel like this series will sting for all of the players (especially 71 & 58) way worse than for the fans and make them realize they have a few more years of unfinished business playing in the burgh. My favourite moment of this regular season for sure was going to a game in Winnipeg with my dad, getting glass seats beside the penalty box, an absolutely amazing view of the ice. I have been a die hard fan since 2013 and my dad since 1990, so it was great to watch them win in person for the first time since the pandemic.
As a rangers fan I can safely say that going into overtime I wasn’t too confident either simply because the rangers weren’t playing there best and panarin outside of the ot goal was struggling big time
Let's lighten the mood. This season had a lot of great stories. Evan Rodrigues, Mike Matheson, and a few other players had career years in points. Brian Boyle returned from a year off from a professional sport at the age of 37, and scored a goal on opening night against (at the time) the best goaltender in the league. Sidney Crosby returned from wrist surgery AND Covid-19 and had one of his best PPG seasons in the last few years. Bryan Rust continued evolving into a top line, elite forward. Evgeni Malkin returned from major surgery and finished the season above a PPG. Mark Friedman earned his way to be a mainstay 3rd pairing defenseman. Despite constant injuries, Jason Zucker kept returning to the lineup and continued making an impact every appearance. Tristan Jarry made another great showing in the regular season, and although injured he made a great game 7 performance while playing on one foot. Look back at the highlights of the season Pittsburgh. It may suck right now, but we got to enjoy 16 seasons of the best trio in the NHL.
It’s amazing how more often than not our vibes come out being true…Game 1 overtime I had a great feeling they were going to win, yesterday not so much…thanks for making these videos man, this is like an Alcoholics Anonymous for Pens fans lol
After the game it was the weirdest feeling for me. I wasn't mad for the first time after a loss, just the words of "this can't be the end." Like that can't be the end of the era.
Honestly going with Jarry was a bad idea. I love the kid but it would have been better to go with a fully healthy domingue. The stakes are too high. Not having Dumo was an underrated loss, despite his downhill play this year. I mean thankfully if you’re management you’re thinking we should have won this series, we badly outplayed them in advanced stats, despite missing so many key players. So hopefully they don’t blow up the team. Desmith could have gotten us through the series if he didn’t get hurt.
