This depends on who your in line with. The players dont get to peek behind the curtain to see what cut of TV revenue the owners get. Yet, when a team like Miami has 5 Prime Time games worth of money coming in.....its definitely not because of the half time show. And ALL OF YOU talking heads say the QB is the most important position. But then you pick and choose who YOU think should get a big time contract as far as QB's go. I mean, the NFL has developed into a passing league right? CMC just got a deal as a RB that is off the charts. And last season was he only season in long while he was available all year. So where is your negative critique? And whether Florio will admit the truth (which he wont) since Tua has been the QB with a HC that actually wants him.....Miami has never won a game without Tua as the starter under the current coaching staff. Thats just fact. So to say they can "move on".......uhhhh to who?

As a Dolphins fan I completely agree. If they pay Tua like a top 5 QB they are out of their mind. He's a mid tier QB.

Yes pay both them (Tua and Trevor). They are the only thing going. Try to replace them with whats out there and you will lose your job.

I remember last year him coming up w grandiose scenarios where Lamar will end up on the dolphins 😂 Several teams have done what florio is talking about, Minnesota just did it. Cleveland did it with baker, the Giants did it with Daniel jones they paid him but not top of market, and Arizona did it with Kyler-paid him but not top of market.

If your franchise guesses wrong and invests a lot of money in the wrong QB, it sets your team back three to five years at least.

It is an issue when every veteran starting QB is getting 40-50 mil, some are 20-30 mil QBs and that’s fine to build with as well. But it seems it’s all 40-50 mil QBs or Rookies no in between

Nobody will agree with what I'm about to say because everyone laughed at it. My Giants split the middle with Daniel Jones. They gave him 2 years 80 something million. Sounds like a lot. Its not anymore and they can get out of it after this year. And dont talk to me about saquon. They offered him what he took from the eagles like 1 or 2 seasons ago. No ones worth that not named Christian McCaffrey.

It's not about the total number paid to the quarterback, it's about the percentage of the total cap. Teams paying these seemingly High rates are possibly just betting on the further expansion of the NFL. The salary cap is determined by how well the NFL does financially, and knowing that the NFL is going to continue expanding out to get Global appeal, as well as add another game, as well as further selling individual games to streaming services ( it's approaching pay-per-view let's be honest) it's just a Gamble that the salary cap is going to continue to go up at the rate it has. 50m / 350m is a steal. It just depends if the NFL continues to grow.

The only way we get to the point where it’s not next man up for the highest pay, is when every team has a starting QB. And honestly we’re getting close because if your a bad team you’d just take a chance on the draft and you would pay a Cousins like the falcons if you think your a QB away and there’s usually 2-4 teams.

They're all overpaid, DeShaun Watson got a huge contract and a nearly immediate season-ending injury,.So did Burrow and so did Herbert. Russell Wilson got huge money and had the worst season ever. Mahomes deserves it, nobody else yet. I'm a Miami fan and a Tua fan but keep it reasonable.

What you mean that a team has not trade a player for not performing, Rams did that to Goff already. So Goff is not better than Tua. Goff's history shows that he was not a good QB.

So with Lawrence... things went haywire and the blocking struggled, but with Tua, he just hasn't earned it. Florio's Tua and Dolphins hate is always right at the surface. The Dolphins had more injury issues than any contending team, by far, and the O-line was one of the worst hit areas. Before those problems, Tua and Miami were dominating. If guys stay healthy this year, Miami will be a top 2 team in the AFC... WITH Tua!

You want to know why teams will pay top money for a QB even if they arnt proven to be top 5? Because almost every time that happens then that QB walks away. You dont get them cheaper, you lose them to a different team that might get them cheaper if you guessed their value right. Now think about what happens to a team that has no backup plans at QB and just lost a QB that was getting them to the playoffs? That team turns to rebuild mode, which take at least another 3 years. Generally these teams dont have top end draft picks because while that QB they held out on might not be top 5, they were getting positive win rates. So what, now you tank a year with some random backup you pick up off the street to draft your QB next year? what are the odds of that QB being better? How many years of QB carousel are you going to have this time around? Also what are the odds that the HC doesn't get fired when this happens and they start losing because the back up QB isnt very good? The risks are so much higher for the organization, which is why they pay the money if the QB is in that 14-8 range that people dont really think are worth that money. The only time teams can really afford to do this is if they either have great draft capital and feel favorably in the upcoming QB class, or if they happened to draft a back up QB thats doing way better then they expected and arnt afraid to move to them instead. IE, the team needs some back plan in motion. Does Miami currently have a back up plan right now? That answer is no. Not paying Tua creates a very high chance that the coaching staff will get fired in a couple years.

If Miami trade Tua, the next QB is gonna be extremely expensive because Miami will now have a history of dumping good QBs.

Ha! Trevor Lawrence has never looked like a top 5 QB. However, I understand the argument of holding your ground vs QB contracts. Typically, teams want QBs that are familiar with the teams' system, coaching staff, and players, if they are hoping to contend in the near future. Miami is CLEARLY in a position where they can't afford to start over at QB, after investing so heavily in other players on the roster. Furthermore, considering how difficult McDaniel's system can be to learn, you immediately take a step back no matter who you draft pr sign. Remember, most rookies won't come close to sniffing what Stroud did last year, and Dak or Russ are the only potential FA QBs I can think of for 2025. Dak will command at least as much as Tua, and he's never won a thing. Russ has his own issues. Might as well strip down the entire roster at that point.

You CAN NOT win in this league paying a good QB great money! Teams are paralyzed by hanging on to the small shred of relevance they’ve grabbed they keep repeating the cycle. There’s 3 guys in the league worth 50M+. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, that’s it!! Everybody else is massively overpaid for the production they’ve shown. You see it over and over when the QB is paid and the team slowly crumbles. Once you can’t afford to put the Avengers around most guys and they have to pull the trailer you see what they really are.
