I got some fish lure lights from HLJ thinking I could use them as beam saber handles. They're okay, but not great. You're also stuck with whatever colour you buy, and can't replace the battery because they're designed to be cheap and replaceable.
Good review 👍 I hope Bandai ramps up on the Perfect Grade series, there are so many PGs we need such as RX-93v, RX-9, RX-105 and especially MSZ-010 no matter the cost.
If the figure came with an action base, fully articulated fingers, better LEDs, and waterslide details, It could’ve been probably the best gundam kit ever. Now this perfect grade is definitely one of the best model kit ever it’s just that those issues I mention could’ve made it even better in my opinion.
I know it’s a really old kit… but I don’t suppose you would be able to review the old perfect grade green zaku 2? I would love to see your take on it 😊
Ok I've had something odd happen with my purchase of this kit.. My Decales on the sticker sheet... aren't the Grey you have or in the images.. there all white....
More Like If you have more Money for a More Premium Gundam then why not. But it looks Awesome though and Updated Design and Structure, I'll just stick with my Banshee and Unicorn. I am satisfied with those two :D
i hope 3rd parties make manipulators for pgu. i kinda hate those big gorilla, megaman hands. also for a 'solid' hands, its pretty weak in the wrist, especially when using the rifle...
I remember thinking the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 being released meant we'd get a PG Unleashed Zaku II or at least an updated PG Zaku II of some kind. 3 years later and we haven't gotten a new PG since, a handful of MGs released in the past year that weren't runner recycles/P-Bandai exclusives, and more HGs than you can feasible want/need/count. Boy was I stupid lol.
@@Pikminer-5087 it's detailed, but brick. The latter is more forgiving due to the fact the design, weight, sheer size (far bigger than any MS MG only the HG Neo Zeong is bigger), and the fact it's very much very left field design that not many people have seen or heard of.
@@gerogyzurkov2259 try the dendrobium in 1/144 the box is as big and heavy as the neo zeong ( I checked it out the neo last time I was in Tokyo 💔 too big for my luggage and the unicorn statue wasn't fuelled up for me to psycom it outta there
Where did you learn that? I noticed the same thing in a MG 3.0 RX-78-2 Shield and was wondering what it was called. Also was curious about how they make those PGU articulated inner frames as one piece. I thought that could only be done with 3d printing.
Well this IS Bandais most advanced kit to date, considering this has all the technology Bandai has mastered throughout the decades, this will probably be a solid kit for years
Strangely, during the advertisement phase, the part that attract me the most is the beam saber. Since I started playing gunpla, the part that I most unsatisfied is the beam saber, it looks very lame to me. Beside all the gimmicks and features, the saber is reason I put myself into 30 day instant noodle diet
I barely have space for my existing collection of MGs, but the proportions of this guy are, to me, phenomenal. Id say the RG/ 3.0/ 1:1 statue style is still my favorite interpretation of the granddaddy Gundam, but the detail on this kit is truly next level. Amazing looking suit right here, doing one of my favorites justice!
I don't have room either esp since I have a lot of gunpla kits all grades from haros/Petit SD hg rg mg and a few pgs now this is not the issue for space however the zaku big gun 3 hg full armour unicorns (not built my pg full armour yet )plus narrative a-pack , gn arms and an almost built dendrobium along with a fair few other sci fi kits and assorted other normal model kits leave me with little shelf space and I still want more (nothing else to do during lockdown but build models ) so I feel your lack of room
Honestly, I'd be pretty on board with the core fighter being its own little kit as more of a promotional thing, and a fun way to show your other gunpla buddies you're still to poor for the full kit
I'm building a handful of 30mm kits and I love how they show the runner and the parts needed before each step. I was thinking, man it would be very nice if they did this for Gunpla but I don't think they will seeing as they are much more intricate. Yet here we are, one of the most intricate kits ever made from what I've seen. God damn it Bandai, you finally did it. They've finally made a granddady Dundam kit that I actually want despite not liking the mobile suit that much.
I'm disappointed that it doesn't seem to come with 2 "power type" Saber hilts. I would've liked that even though they only include 1 test battery, especially given its gargantuan price. I also agree with you that the lighting could have been done much better. It's baffling that there's no static lighting mode, and it feels like a massive oversight. Normally I could let things like that slide, but for such an expensive tent pole release; it feels like a feature that's missing. That and the counterintuitive way they expect you to turn them on and off. I think the cockpit should've just been a button, or there should've been a button hidden somewhere else in the torso. Personally I don't like that there's no hands with articulated fingers. I know that fixed pose ones are more solid, but it's another one of those "premium" features I'd like to see on a kit this big and expensive. All that said, it still looks really cool and it has pretty solid articulation design. It's just too rich for my blood and those little faults would make it very hard for me to justify the purchase. As someone who still doesn't own an RX-78. I think I'll either go for the MG Origin or the HG Beyond Global.
As some one who owns the older version of PG RX-78-2, this unleashed version is just dead sexy. I'm going to rebuild my old PG and repaint it, adding battle damage effects to it due to parts now missing or broken over the years. Its going to be interesting if it turns out well, because this B is getting LEDs to flair it up more. Maybe down the line I will pick this kit up, because damn every time I see it, I want to make it better.
I noticed that problem with the wrist in the PG Unicorn. The joint can’t support the weight of the beam rifle, which is pretty annoying when you consider how much these ones tend to cost. I’m also a bit disappointed by the the fixed pose hands, but I think Bandai chose to do that for this one in order to work in those metallic silver parts in the hands.
This looks awesome! Can't wait for mine! Man, these last 3 months just flew by, right? I'm sure they'll be shipping them soon! ... any minute now... ...
I absolutely love the MG Barbatos it was my first ever master grade to build, and I loved building the frame and then popping on that incredible armor.
The entire gunpla community when the only MGEX is Unicorn and the only PG Unleashed is Grandaddy. I can't honestly think that beyond these two kits what Bandai will do with those "new lines" of gunpla. My biggest wish is for a MGEX Turn A. Still holding out for the chance we'll see the PG Unleashed Barbatos. I would settle for a PG Barbatos but a boy can dream when it comes to desired PG Unleashed kits. I would also still like to see if Bandai does release a full compliment of the other 71 IBO kits in MG.
I hope there will be no issues with the early Real Grade-style pre-built inner frame for the arms and legs becoming loose and the fact that PG kits are larger and heavier.
During the articulation segment you didnt show that the middle of the red part of the torso can split upward on both sides to allow for side to side movement. I dont blame you for not wanting to risk it but i want people to know its there
Three brittleness of the chrome painted parts might be from the chrome not for the chrome, I've painted quite a few things with chrome and it can sometimes tend to make the plastic crack at joints that were perfectly fine before
Not an option, unfortunately - saw on another review that the act of putting the light back in does a hard reset on the LED, turning it off. The chest wiggle is the only way to activate it.
I agree with you, depending on the kit. A lot of MGs look just fine with the stickers. But for my Banshee I got the P-Bandai weapons pack which comes with gold waterslides, and they look sooo good. I wouldn't want to use stickers on the very dark glossy blue paint I used. Also, stickers can be a nightmare if you misplace them. You can't peel them off and try again. They get ruined.
I think that a happy middle ground would be dry transfer decals. You don't have the drawbacks of regular stickers, and depending on the quality, you don't have the drawbacks of waterslides, either.
My store preordered a few finally arrived early Feb it took longer for the mgex to arrive than the pg unleashed ( I guess presales went thru the roof and bandai is working hard filling out the orders in a covid secure way * gotta keep those heroes of gunpla manufacturing healthy so we can get our kits ) it might take time but it'll arrive *patience is advised *and you can enjoy the kit I had to wait over 3.5 months for mine including pre order when announced
is it completely different build wise, compared to the original pg? Been planning to get the exia as my first pg for years now, but im still intimidated lol
you should get the ver ka rx78. its perfect for people starting out painting since its dirt cheap and massive panels so its easy to paint and panel line and scribe. i got mine for 30 usd, really good.
Just an FYI if you don't like the stickers and would prefer water slides there is the most easiest fix Scan the whole sheet, then print it off on decal paper, use decal sealer spray, cut out then do standard water slide action followed by Microsol and Microset
I've been waiting for the review! I do not own any PG, but this one got my interest. It looks awesome, and I heard that it is not as difficult as other PG.
Also, the batterie is only for testing. I have seen my friend's formania and he told me that if you get a separated battery battery, the light is much stronger.
