So this might be a stupid question....but are bunkers supposed to be flat? I'm not a real life golfer, but do design a lot of courses (mostly fantasy) and I generally sink my bunkers about 2 to 3 feet to give them depth sometimes deeper if I want to create more of a challenge to get out. Should I be flattening them towards the middle? Is it frowned upon if I don't?
typically in bunker design you want slopes that carry your balls to flatter areas for the players. those slopes in the bottom of bunkers can anywhere from 0% to 20%, Where as walls can be 40% to 70%. generally large slopes inside of bunkers are frowned upon
