This still gives me the nostalgia tears. ;_; My friends and I poured hundreds of hours of our time together on this game and we don't regret a second of it. It was one of the only really bright spots in my life in that period of time and I owe it a lot. PSO2 is a blast now, don't get me wrong, but the original PSO conjures up nothing but fond memories.
Meanwhile I’m only just playing it for the first time lol - definitely one of those games I wish I’d have had when I was younger, the nostalgia factor would certainly multiply my enjoyment of this game tenfold
Can’t tell you how many times I walked into a room on the caves level and feeling bullet proof. Unknowingly a rare lily spawned somewhere out of view and killed me. Friends would laugh and spiral around my dead body. Not knowing what killed me, only to die themselves. So many good laughs, and leaping out of our seats when you see that red box!…. Photon drop NOOOOOOOO😂
God. My heart pounds so hard everytime I hear this. I get great and bad memories. It was a great game but losing so much progress and hours of my life from corrupted memory cards used to kill me. Playing 5 hours straight and the system being unplugged. We've been through so much! ;~;
Many days and nights playing this on my Dreamcast. For a while, it was the only reason my DC who even be on. Hearing the modem dial up and connect...finally signing in and seeing all of the players running around with bubbles above their heads. This was back before the internet became a malicious convention for a-holes ruining a gaming community. The game was great. Still have my original disc. One of my favorite games ever to play in my 35 years of gaming. Started when I was 4 on Coleco and Intellivision! lol The music was perfect.
Couldn't have summed it up better myself mate, was a great great game, soundtrack was outstanding sounded epic, too bad there isn't another game for today, phantasy star online 3 is needed!
I was over a friends house, whom we all loved getting together and playing some PSO. We always did Episode 1 though and never tried 2, so we all decided that one day we're going to go run through Episode 2. I nearly shat my pants when I saw a Del-Sabre in the first level. I also remember being nearly 1 shotted by the Gal-Gryphon. Was fun times, sadly though, right at the red boss portal, as we're about to go fight Olga Flow, my friends mom said it was dinner time and I had to go home.
I fell in love with PSO 1 and BB and I wish they went back to this artstyle with PSO 2. I'm hoping for a new entry in the franchise more in line with the artworks and dark tone/atmosphere. It suits more the franchise than the generic anime style PSO 2 went for.
@@firstofskin4058 well, sadly the devs division in sega who work for phantasy star were not sonic team anymore, amd their direction were far feyched in ngs than it was in pso2
Oh those first few notes... they go right back to all the good times playing Phantasy Star II, and that alone is what made me want to play this. Once I got into it, though, it was a fantastic game in its own right. I still fondly remember all the adventures I had with my HUnewearl. Perhaps one day we'll get another single player Phantasy Star that captures the magic of this series again. One can dream.
You know what I love the most about this song? The opening notes up until 0:21 are a call-back to the opening theme for Phantasy Star II on the Genesis.
OMG! This gives me so many memories!! I remember when me and my brother used to play this together! I had to been about 6 years old. I used to kick ass too! I had a girl that used the guns and my brother had the funny lookin magician dude with the glasses.
@RAYNOR EISSENS I've actually moved to playing the Blue Burst edition on Ephinea servers recently. It's fairly vanilla, aside from a bit of QOL, and they have seasonal events.
This game rocked because it was very simple (no in depth storyline) and had awesome weapons and fun to play with friends. I now real sad and stuff for i have no PSO or friends to play with... T_T
The song is called "A whole new world". If you search for it on Google something will probably pop up. Also, I always loved this intro. I've probably seen it hundreds of times when I booted up PSO.
I LOVE this song! Thank you for uploading it! I havent heard it in a year since my gamecubes busted (as did its replacement i bought). I also bought the xbox version from my friend, but didnt realize that it didnt work on the 360. Best game ive ever played. And ive played most of the games released in america for this series.
Man i miss this game! I remeber when i was 6 years old when this game came out! Me and my brother used to kick ass on this thing, i was a ranger and my brother was a magic person!
Aaahhh I just cheer at the end, I could just shed a tear at how awesome of an expirience and memory this game was. I wish I could give the creators of this game a hug and thank them for sharing this genuinely amazing piece of work to the world.
Forget ... Here is the best game in the world .. Did not like the beginning but then taught me to play never wanted to stop! I love the phantasy star online!
I was 8 when I started playing this game with my dad, I had a ranger I called him Jedi at the time it seemed cool I owned online in very hard till my brother made a new guy made me made. Best game ever.
*sigh* no matter how many times i watch this vid i never get tired of it....wish it was free to play online though....i miss playing online and getting all the free hacked weps and crap T_T
Omgoshez, I havent played pso online in years and then for the system i dont even want to think about that. This game was so damn awesome, i still love it x3 ill blame this if i start playing again.
This is absolutly Beautiful and sad at the same time. Its like the game makers showing us a brand new world that is ours to explore. However it has a doomed existence. Fuckin tearjerkin'
I own both versions of this for the Dreamcast, as well as the Gamecube version, and after recently deciding that I should give the old 8 and 16-bit games in the series a proper go I've started getting a serious urge to play PSO again. Damned nostalgia.
same here! i randomly put my player to HUcast before i saw the intro and when i saw it i noticed that HUcast was holding a HUGE chainsaw! i want it so bad!
I'm buying this off of ebay or amazon soon. Had a legit 188 humar when i was a teenager with a legit bkb among other rares that i had to grind like a bastard for. A legit lafuteria and aura field also. over a year of time logged into my toon. when i get another copy of this i plan to get to 200 and call this game beaten lol so many times corrupt and still no 200. i have a bit of a rivalry with this game :P
At first I bought this game for the exploit to play gamecube roms, but when I started playing this, I couldn't stop.... I just.... couldn't stop.... it was so addictive, one of the best games ever.
See, all this cool, beautiful and yet dramatic stuff is what I feel is missing from World of Warcraft and games like that! There are fairly few MMOs I can bring myself to play at the moment, but I do play PSU! ^_^
AGh, I remember when I saw this game in the store I just HAD to get it (the guy at the store said it was for online play) but I thought he was joking....I got it and turns out it really was online!!!! I still want to play it lol
I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME!!! Awesommme! I've still only goten to the underwater sealab so far in episode II although I've had this game for almost half a year now. Does anyone know where I can find a weapon list? Cause I don't have an addapter and I'd like to know how good my weapons, mag, and armor is considered to others.
