there was a weird period of my life where I was playing through this game. My current situation was in disarray, and I had to play a bunch of video games and stuff out in my shed because I smoke and I don't like the smell in the house. I was really depressed. I remember slapping this game on but usually not playing it. I would leave the menu on, let the intro roll and do it's thing until we sat back here at this menu. I would stare at this screen until I'd fall asleep some nights. It was a hugely sad time of my life, but somehow this makes me yearn for those days. There was some sort of comfort in that time, I don't know where or how I felt it but it was there.
This music does make me feel nostalgic as well. I would come back from school and finish all my homework and play this as my reward. I think it was my first ever online game too.
This makes me cry for you. That’s so sad because I get it 100 percent. Sometimes music is the only comforting thing in your life for a season and I’ve been there. I hope that times are better for you, and if not will get better for you.
I used to play this game with my litte brothers when I came back from work late in the night, it brings so much special memories, the best part was being able to play 4 players with a single Gamecube console, if it wasn't for that I think the game wouldn't have been so special for us, we spent like a thousand hours there
What made this game so amazing was it was one of the first console MMORPG games where you could go online. Before then you had to have a PC to experience what PSO offered. Questing with others around the country hell the world for the first time was such an eye opening experience I can't remember a time I looked more forward to playing a game in my life. It was the start of an era and I was so glad I had friends who introduced me to this game so I could experience it when it came out.. In order to appreciate how great of a game it was, you had to have been there..
I'm not sure people realize how freakin complex this composition is. The keyboard at the start is offset so much to the 3/4 beat. It's amazing! And friends, I too have very fond memories of this game. I teared up as soon as I heard the keyboard come in when I pressed play x_x
I remember finding my uncle's dreamcast, and finding this game. Then playing the absolute shit out of it. In the end, my uncle gave me the dreamcast. This was my childhood.
Oh my God the memories, this theme is engraved into my mind. I never got tired of this game, all those late, late nights spent playing, I miss those days...
I will never forget PSO. I made my first online buddies there. Had my first online gaming and dating experience with a girl named "Rose". Good times... And the game was awesome, grindy but awesome
This game was amazing. It really went to show what a simple mmo could do. No 50 factions, 20 character classes, nope just a handful of classes and 4 levels, yet it worked so much better than some we have today.
i remember playing this game into the wee hours of the night... trying to connect to the internet for the first time on a console game had me all excited. I never did get to connect, sadly, but i still played this beautiful game and remember hearing some of the best soundtracks and viewing some of the best sci-fi art i've seen in a game. Great memories for any gamer.
This was the first mmo I had ever played and became addicted instantly. Where I lived in the midwest of america we only had dial up at that time, my mom wasn't happy getting a $280 phone bill for the long-distance dial up connection(didn't have any direct ISP in our town of 1000) that month.
I remember playing this on the Dreamcast and I felt like I was living in the future ( and not because of the setting of the game but just how amazing everything looked and had online)
The music really made this game. I spent so many hours in PSO! I miss games, and the Dreamcast. No game of today can compare to some of the games I played back when the Dreamcast was top dog.
The times i spent on this.....my god the memories, still keep my DC keyboard, with all the burns from smoking during entire nights, i was online 1 entire week with no sleep. The phone bill was insane, my father almost threw me out the house lol
Nostalgia... Watching this... makes me feel weird inside. I Feel happy but wanna cry at the same time, because I know Im never getting memories like these. One time, my friend and I played until 4am, we went to sleep and woke up at 6am just to keep playing. I Fucking LOVE this game.
I still have this game :-) I have the original on my Dreamcast And i have PSO ver 2 also And i still play on them I have for my Dreamcast/Game Cube/Ps2 I still love this game & i wish they would bring back the servers for us to play it online still I used to play it day & night when it first came out for the DC & even now ill play it for hours on end even though i have completed it many a time its a game i go back to again and again and again!
Wow, such sweet memories. Going online with Dreamcast and PSO... Now that was something. And then listening to this great music just after disconnecting after a 3 hour session...
I vividly remember sneaking downstairs at midnight to use our dial up connection and play this for until I couldn't keep my eyes open any more. Many a night. What a truly awesome game.
I remember playing this with my dad back when I was 5 or 6, and we would fight the bosses together, and I never wanted to stop playing. I also remember at the ending I cried. Wow, good memories, indeed.
Ahhh the memories.... staying up all night playing this game on my DC. Such an amazing game, very ahead of its time. Was absolutely great until idiots started cheating.
i feel u man i was over the moon with this game. I was a young man, it helped me alot. and it was all new the first MMORG. had to start somewhere and phantasy star killed it
My first EPIC game online, thanks SEGA for this fantastic game and thanks all of you, Pso gamers. Every time i put this game inside DC i start crying like a child...Best online game EVER!! By Italy !!!
@dontchuckitson Yea, the nostalgia this brings back is crazy. I can remember being in 9th grade and sneaking up until 2am playing this and then sleeping till 5-6 am and going to school. I still play this from time to time on the schtserv.com blue burst version when i want that feeling of being truly young again. And its still a blast to play.
My first online game... I played too much, duped every rare item with the 2 Memory cards cheat, and created a clan of thieves, I used the clan's name again later on Counter Strike. I played with the Internet connection through phone cable, it means I paid every minutes of time played online. All my monnies gone, but the game was awesome...
I remember when I got this on GC, holding the game in my hands, not knowing exactly what an RPG was, excited to put the game in the console, and then playing it 3 days straight :).
3:16 Dark Falz. But wasn't he still "searching for a body" when Red Ring Rico was in the Ruins? Or were those messages really old by the time we found them? I forgot how it all went down.
i have this for gamecube and this was one game we spend A LOT of time playing together. it's freaking great. except for the combat which is pretty slow.
@P3dr1nh4 Also you could play 4 player split screen which is absolutely epic. Made great memories playing this with my friends as a kid and this song/intro brings tears to my eyes
lol i played this game so much when it come out.. never played any expansion.. i remember people would make the most hilarious emotes and spam that shit in the lobbys..not to mention the humping.. lol
I still have the GC version, but regretfully, didn't have an internet connection at the time and well, PSOBB can't even hold a candle to a raging inferno known only as PSO.
So many facking good memories with this game... First online experience, firest online buddies... Yeah, great, I'm crying now. Gimme "Gears of War", I'm a man, dude ! (...)
Just a side note, when I was playing this game, I don't know how I interpreted the amber-colored plating outside the ship (3:35) as pilewoods, and I thought it was an exaggerate way of displaying the desperation of human-kind (they ran out of proper materials to construct the ship so they need to use wood), which actually shocked me quite a bit.
PSO 2 is also due to contain PSO 1! Considering 2 is going to be online again, I think it is a safe hope that we will be able to play 1 online again, without relying on things like schthack! Am I the only one thrilled by that?
Private servers, even for dreamcast version, they exist with hundreds of players, and a Japanese version of PSO2 that is F2P, just get the english patch!
yes, and no if you play long enough you get rare weapons like ones that'll kill everything in the room for a limited amount of time, if u can't enjoy the story then, eh, but this game really shined with thousands upon thousands of people playing online back in the glory days of the dreamcast, split screens fun but just think if u enjoyed a MMO with only 3-7 of ur freinds, (thats hardly massive) imagine it the way it was suppose to be played...
