Gerard being given the ring back and hearing the distant echo of Christine's singing as she exits the cave and a tear rolls down his cheek is one of the most powerfully cinematic moments I have ever seen. It's in that moment that he realises that she is in fact the true Phantom of the Opera - in that he will never be able to hold her again or hear her sing another sheet of his music. The most vital piece of his music and life is truly gone and he is condemned to spend the rest of his life contending with that heartbreak. Such a powerful moment.
"Ever since I've seen it, I've been singing the music around the house. My kids tell me to shut up." Dude that is literally going to be me when I have kids I swear.. my mom introduced me to the POTO when I was around 8 and I've been in love with it ever since.. I've watch the movie a million times, I'm currently reading the book (in which the play was based off of) and omg how the lyrics come so easily to me. Like it's in my blood !!
Ahahaha The "love scenes with older men" part was my favorite part of the interview! But the best part was right after: when Gerard says "But we were never uncomfortable, don't say that!" Haha all of the Gemmy (Gerard + Emmy) fans everywhere are swooning....
16 when she sang the part via in the studio, 17 when acted (they lip-synced / sang softly along with the tracks from the recording), 18 when it was released.
Gerry is so amazingly hot I can't stand it, I squeal every time he smiles. And has anyone noticed how very intelligent he is besides? And that voice! *sighs* His singing is beautiful in Phantom, and even when he just talks his deep baritone is so rich and soothing. LOVE Gerry!!! And why hasn't he been on Oprah yet? He's been on almost every other talk show known to mankind, why not Oprah? I'm gonna write to her I swear.
Actually, Gerry and Patrick are only about three or four years apart in age. They were both in their early 30s and Emmy was 17 when they filmed the movie.
I use to sing to my cat precious she was 20 years wrapped her like a baby and sing "think of me think of me fondly , we we say good bye remember me........." she use to loovvee the song and the song that she song on the graveyard my ..my baby I miss you precious...
I love this interview. One of my favorite ones ever. "You had to do love scenes with these older men." "YEAH!" Onscreen: *Christine swoons* ___________________________________ "...And you had to do the whole number with the cape--" "Yeah, with the cape...." "We have a cape." LOLZ!! Awesome interview!!! (A Phantom Fashion show. I would totally go!!)
Apparently it took 3 days to get the kissing scene right, up on the Opera House roof. Emmy said. She said her lips were so swollen, she had to use ice packs to reduce the swelling do they could continue filming!!!
I went to Scotland, to his hometown, Paisley, when I chased Phantom around the world in 2014. He wasn't there, a guy in the supermarket told me. He said he was in LA, getting an award, that particular day. Sighhhh...🤨🙄😭😭😭😭😫😪
Honestly i never seen this movie when i was younger in 2004 and didn't know she acted as 17/18. This movie is by far the best romantic movie i will ever love and i am 25 now.
hey are these women blind?? they have GERARD BUTLER on this sofa and they are all into this Patrick??? i mean he is cute, but he is nothing compared to Gerry..! for god's sake!!! X-)
I did not notice but really, isn't that more a personal preference (and i love Butler) What bothered me more was the fact that they say: "... you all will be so well-known after this movie (oh and Minnie is already...)... and you won't be soon anymore, interviewer ladies - soon well-known, my but(ler)! What a bad and painful interview but gracious guests, all the actors. My view.
OMG! Emmy's so naturally pretty & has a great voice! I love her! Gerard was even hotter here, but Patrick's voice melted me in the movie! He & Emmy would make a nice couple...
Perfect cast !! I am obsessed with the movie, someone actually give me a 3 discs special edition of it, funny 😃😄😅.... I still have it... it is priceless, considering you cannot see opera at the place I live !!
I agree with Vietgirl1011, I think there was definatley something going on between Emmy and Gerry. there are a lot of hints in their interviews, just stuff that I think normal co-stars just wouldnt say about eachother such as "I never felt uncomfortable".
The cape thing is so very sexy! No prissy about it!!! There's been the hunk playing Zorro doing the cape, 3 Muskateers, and a very sexy dance called "Pasadoble'" (do not know if that's spelled correctly, so how could it possibly be anything but extremely sexy? I am in love with Gerard Butler, but the best cape artist is Antonio Banderas as Zorro whom I'm also in love with!
I guess she chose the safest guy. She didn't know exactly what she would get if she chose The Phantom IMHO. She was afraid of real love.....wasn't she? I don't think it would have been as dire as depicted.
Sure, the actors are lookin' goooood, but is noone going to mention the borderline offensive interview style of Barbara Walters here? Plus she and Joy keeps talking over one another. I cringed.
@shadowfox1383 Yeah. when I first saw this movie, in the part were he's walking down the tunnel w/ Christine, I was like " Wow! He looks like Dracula there... 0.0" Lol. No idea he DID play in one, til I read he's movie list.
