Pharrell's four-count start has been a staple in his long running career. From all the tracks he has produced under The Neptunes alongside Chad Hugo, to the many that he has produced by himself, this signature intro style has kicked off a ton of songs! In this video, watch as we showcase every single Pharrell four-count start that I could find, a total of 209 songs that span over two decades! Iconic examples include Kelis' "Milkshake", Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot", Teriyaki Boyz "Tokyo Drift", Kendrick Lamar's "Alright", and many more! This video was inspired by the Genius video from a few years ago, but unlike their video which only highlighted a few songs, this video aims to showcase them all! Hope you enjoy it!

He's easily a top 5 producer of all time!!! It's nice to see Pharrell get more recognition I remember rounding up all these songs during quarantine and I was surprised just how much great music he's been apart of. Btw I'm wondering where did you and everyone else who watched this video over the past couple days come from? It randomly got like 20k views in 2 days after sitting relatively stagnant. I wasn't sure if RU-vid started recommending it to people or if y'all all came from somewhere.

@fizzychizzy
@fizzychizzy 4 года назад
@@RhythmicReason And it fits perfectly when you think about the context. So Ambitious has the pompous grandiose horns and they match Jay Z's sentiments of proving everyone wrong and being ambitious. It's airy and it floats. Whereas for Earl, his song talks about how the weight of expectations is actually weighing him down. So those same lofty goals are slowed down and sort of heavy. Its happy horns, but at the same time there is some melancholy with it. And there is grandeur associated with the horns, but that seems to be unwanted by Earl. I don't know if that is what Pharrell's aim was, but I felt that come through in the lyrics and sound. I feel like Pharrell gave Jay Z his track with a chorus already made. So I wonder how he gave his beat to Earl...if they were working in the studio and he sort of pulled it out or if he made it while in studio. And I wonder how close they were done. Maybe Earl was sitting on the track but it was made close to when the Blueprint 3 was made.
@RhythmicReason
@RhythmicReason 4 года назад
Damn that’s insane! You explained it perfectly too thanks for sharing! What’s interesting too is the fact that this isn’t the only time Pharrell has used the same sample in two separate songs! This whole situation makes me think of the Alright beat, and how he used the same sample as the Presidential beat! I bet you sometimes he revolves his sessions around one specific sample, and makes several different beats using it! And then after he makes them he probably sends the beats to different people in order to match the artist! Or maybe he just likes to revisit and rework samples he’s used earlier in his career. Either way it’s very interesting and I bet you there’s more cases of this happening!

I know it's technically a Neptunes beat but grindin is the hardest beat of all time Pharell is the dude you want to produce 2 or 3 tracks on your album since the 4 count can wash out a whole album but those tracks will be the hardest beats on there

El-P was the one that produced JU$T, he just added the 4 count as a tribute to Pharrell. You can hear him say it in the Song Exploder episode for JU$T

A lot of these if not all had Chad Hugo on just as much or more than Pharrell. He never gets the credit from people. It's The Neptunes. Not just Pharrell.
