PHASE 2 TRAINING | Start to Finish 

It’s great to see the training on video that we all went through. Passed out in October as a Scots guard, quality videos keep them coming.

When i did my basic training Cetterick way back in the early 1980's it snowed all the way thru. Exercise on the moors was interesting to say the least. Also the kit they have now as far superior to the old webbing we had. When it got wet it weighed twice as much and lugging the SLR around with the old Boots combat high on which you had to really break in to be comfy. Once you got into your battalion/regiment you ended up buying your own kit, customize your webbing and it made life so much easier whilst on deployment or exercise. I used to used the old S10 respirator pouches on my webbing instead of the kidney pouches you was issued as they were so much easier to use and you hold more much needed kit in them. With the webbing we used to sow it together and put extra padding on for comfort to stop the dreaded joggers nipple. I'm well into my 50's now and after serving in the British army i went on to work freelance until recently. What you learn in basic never leaves you and the best advice i can give to anyone joining up is listen to your instructors and also once in battalion tap up any knowledge of the old sweats who have been there, done it. You will always get a few who will give you stick for this but ignore them. Its always them who struggle on deployment but trust me anything that will give you an edge and make you a better soldier especially if your on a kinetic deployment will be the difference between life and death in some situations. Also do as many courses as you can whatever level it is and work your way up from basic first aid, weapon handling etc taught in training to more advanced stuff. I remember the original SA80 A1 been issued to use and it was an awful piece of kit. Its was dangerous as it was so unreliable and i'm glad they have basically binned it for the A2 etc. I had to use the A1 in the gulf and we got rid of first chance we got and ended up using captured AK's as they were far more reliable...

Infantry training is tough. I used to see them do boot runs with their SA80 rifle. I'm so glad I did join them.

Do you have any tips for someone who has a fast metabolism? I’m training to be at a greater standard to become a royal marine but being a skinny guy it’s always be hard to put on weight and joining the military is something I’ve always wanted since I was 12

Love the videos man! A question, I'm wanting to join in the RLC and focus in on supply chain. If I did this would I be able to do the phase 2 training for infantry later on but stick to my role in the RLC? (Living in UK at the moment but waiting for the army to allow commonwealth people again)

Just a quick one. In phase 2 for engineers you don’t learn your trade. Phase 2 is basic engineering skills for every engineer. Then engineers have a phase 3 where we learn our specific trades. Phase 2 training is an extra 10 weeks and includes 1 exercise

Am i right in saying that your free to go home on weekends in phase 2 if not required for any duties? I start itc catterick on october 15th snd am just trying to get a realistic perception of hoe much leave i get to go see my partner since i know it will be a struggle

Hi mate been loving your videos. I’m currently quite overweight at 94kg and 6foot 1. I wonder if you know of anyone who has been able to lose a lot of weight and gain a lot of muscle and become fitter in general in not too long? *currently i even struggle running short distances, presumably because of my weight, idk if that makes me a lost cause or 😕 Is it possible to get army-fit in about 2 years? Currently going through university so I will be about 21 when I’m done and im almost 19 but joining the army afterwards would be excellent if I can get fit. Thanks

I’m interested in joining the infantry and I have a really daft question. Can you fire from the left? I’m left handed and left eye dominant, I haven’t really seen any footage of lads or girls firing from left, only right side. I was wondering if that was something I’d just have to deal with and learn coordinate myself differently? Cheers.

I'm 33 and recently started my application for the regulars. Had my phone call with recruitment and was told to consider the reserves because of my age. I was told I wouldn't have much of a career. Do you agree or should I still go for the regulars?

i passed the assessment center at the end of october but still need to gain a few kg before i can join. during this time i have stopped wanting to do electrical engineering and have become unsure of what job role i want to pursue. was just wondering what job roles do you think would travel the world the most.
