This video shows how the FT991A antenna tuner is able to adjust the 2.0 SWR on 29.600 FM to SWR 1.2 and 2.8 SWR on 50.125 USB to 1.3 SWR.
The FT991A tuner will take the impedance presented by the feedline and attempt to match it as close as possible the FT991A radios impedance of 50ohms.
There is some power reduced as the tuner tries to manager a larger impedance mismatch - and this is noticeable on my 6m test.
Using the tuner will allow me to safely transmit on 10m FM and 6m USB and not damage the radio

The other day I was contemplating trading my KX3 for a 991A. I went through a lot saving up for the KX3 but it has its niche as my camping radio. The all modes/ all bands is so alluring though. wattage isn't important to me as my 817nd proves it is all about the antenna. Do you like the 991A as much as I believe you do?

Good morning sir, how are you doing, I actually do really enjoy the radio, I like being able to do the all modes, and this keeps it interesting I'm starting to do CW and I can do that with the radio. My problem is space I have a very small shack and space is a premium with the other projects going on. I would say for a good starter radio this will give you everything, then once you find what you like then maybe a more focus radio

I live in a block of flats 13 meters high and I want to hang the antenna 3 meters above the flat roof. What will be the effective height of the antenna - 16 meters or 3 meters??

What antenna, what frequency, and what is the roof made out of - metal or not? Generally speaking though, you should be much better off 3 meters up on the roof than 3 meters off the ground.
