I'm a metal head. Born in 73. I did not listen to "That soft crap" in my teens and was barely aware of Phil Collins. I was missing out due to my adolescent close mindedness. Phil is a frickin' LEGEND. He is an incredible performer, musical genius and all around rock icon. I still prefer old school Maiden, RJD, Sabbath and the heavy stuff, but Collins can not be ignored. He didn't even sound out of breath with that drum fill, played and sang perfectly. Damn.

Something people don't seem to know. There's two drummers playing exactly the same. Chester Thompson is on the set right below him playing identical lines. It's amazing to watch. Seek out their drum battles while in Genesis. They won't disappoint a Maiden fan, trust me.

This is a great live version! Phil Collins is best known as the drummer/singer of the rock band Genesis in the 70's & for his solo career. He has had so many great hits such as "Another Day In Paradise", "I Don't Care Anymore", "Against All Odds", "One More Night", "Sussudio", "Take Me Home", "Two Hearts", "A Groovy Kind Of Love", "I Wish It Would Rain Down", "You Can't Hurry Love" etc.

This concert was in Paris 2004 . Phil was 53 yrs old & still killing it! He wrote this after his divorce....it was a combination of all those emotions on top of dealing with fame. She couldn't deal with him being gone for months at a time. But he couldn't pursue his dream without touring. All the frustration...hurt...& anger all comes through.

Phil tells the story in a interview, when the drum kit was not there as he is walking and singing so when he reached his mark, he jumped down played the drums and continued the song from below the stage. The way he tells it is hysterical. A true artist and performer always!

I saw him perform this live on the No Jacket Required tour- it was incredible, a show stopper then as it would be today. I also saw home live with Genesis-he was a great performer, musician and singer whose talent is undeniable. I think only Prince was comparable in how often he was heard on the radio at around the same time-and a lot of Prince’s stuff wasn’t performed by him. But Phil will never be fully duplicated by one person.

I really love the song "Another day in Paradise" which is a social commentary on homelessness which unfortunately hasn't changed! Ha ha ha I knew you would like it. The live concert was freaking awesome. No matter how much of an introvert or TARZAN dudes thought they were it made no difference everyone was up and singing and dancing. I think if you look carefully you can see the number of people there on the ground and all the way up in the grand stands. If I can remember this was about half way through the show (stand corrected). The whole stadium erupted which you can't feel from the video. The sound however was awesome. Saw him in Johannesburg Ellis Park Rugby stadium where the stadium was full in 1995 62000 seater although the space directly behind the stage was not sold as seats the field in front of the stage probably held even more the place was packed.
