Ummm....musicians are musicians for life. Whether we want them to hang it up is a moot point. Creative people create because they are driven to do so from something inside. When they stop they stop because they either can't do it the way they want or they find another creative endeavor that feeds their soul the same way. Like everything else, we believe creatives are around for our amusement and are therefore disposable when we tire of them. Their product may be...but not their lives. And in Phil's case- neither are disposable as he still has an audience and a drive.
That's exactly what I've been saying for a very long time. I was born a musician and I will be playing drums to the day I day. I'm 57 years old and still practice and play 2 hours or more a day. I'll be playing til the cows come home or I die, whichever comes first. I wouldn't doubt just wanting to see his son on tour watching him play every night, was good enough reason to breakout and start touring again.
Yes I agree you a musician and creative for life. Where I disagree is that should necessarily been on stage. I respect Phil it was in my teenage era when his solo career became truly massive. He can sing he can barely stand, really is this a great show nobody is doubting his songwriting chops and his creativity but this is not good.
@@claudiabailey5302 It's still his choice to be on stage. And it's the choice of people who want to hear Phil do his music to either show up or not show up. Good. Bad. Doesn't really matter what we think beyond whether or not we want to buy a ticket or follow him on social media. We can't manage or control Phil's life decisions.
Lincoln Adams People can spend there money on what they like because it’s there money. I am not arguing Phil talent or his love for performing. But this is a awful performance of a man that can’t hold a tune anymore and can’t play the instrument that he is known for anymore. As I said at the start if people want to pay for that it’s up to them.
Phil must have been so proud of his son playing drums just like he did, especially when he nailed the intro to something happened. You could see it all over his face.
The apple surely doesn't fall far from the tree! The shadowed image of Phil sitting there grooving to his son's playing....priceless! Thank you for the years and years of music you've given us, Mr. Collins!
You can see his son singing in the background, this is sooooo freaking great because it means he trully enjoys being with his dad and playing along.😄 such a heart warming video.
And the student becomes the master... What a fabulous opportunity for them both to be on stage together doing what they love. Its truly a blessing and that's all that matters. Looking forward to seeing young Nic perform for years to come.
Nick really has his father's vibes there. Nick is such a breathtaking drummer! He's as good as his father. Respect!!! 😘 😘 😘. I can see how proud is Phil Collins of his son Nick!!! 😘 😘 😘 😘
I saw him often live with Genesis and solo.. Last time was last year in Berlin. It was such a magical moment when he entered the stage. An old man walks very slowly to his seat and sits down... The whole stadium cheered and showed him the respect this man deserves. One of the greatest musicians I know! Thank you for all the beautiful moments you gave me! I must correct myself... He still gives me wonderful moments!! ❤️
Phil is one of my biggest idols. Being a drummer myself and seeing Phil not able to play kills me. Knowing he has made such an impact with his awesome music. He wrote, composed, directed, played, produced, and mastered is a very big job. Well done and thank you, Sir Phil Collins we are blessed with your talent.
I have been a lifelong Phil Collins fan and have had the opportunity to see him live both with Genesis and as a solo artist. He was and still is a great artist. His passion will always be present no matter what. It was awe-inspiring as he watched his son perform. It's a beautiful thing to know and see Phil has passed the torch while continuing to be influential. Love for Phil is everlasting. 💖💖💖
Heureux et en peine de voir cette légende dans cet état, mais il vit sa passion avec son fils, très émouvant de le voir assit, regardant Nicolas au drums... oufff Thank you Mr Collins !
It was GREAT to see Phil LIGHT UP at 8:45...He loves it. He might not be the guy we all remember from years past but, still wonderful. Bless you Phil. And seeing Nicholas share this moment with his father is just wonderful. He will not be with us much longer. Give him this time people.....Psalm 46:10
Thank you for sharing. Phil Collins, what a gem! And his son Nic, so young and yet so accomplished! Bravo to the musicians. Music is the greatest communicator. Peace to all.
Coming back to watch this after hearing Phil Collins is retiring from performing. I’m not a concert person, but I went to his concert in Omaha, NE in 2019, the only concert I’ve ever asked my friends to go with me to as he is by far my favorite musician. It is upsetting to know I’ll never be able to see him live in concert again.
As a lifelong Phil Collins fan who has never seen him live, i passed up the chance to see him in Detroit because I couldn't bare to see him as the current shadow of his former self. No knock on him for his medical challenges, I just prefer to remember him as the force of nature he was through most of his career. Still, I wish him nothing but the best and give all his issues he still sounds good.
@@kyl3sh3a No offense, but it doesn't really appear that he can do much right now as is. He has lost a good deal of his vocal range, seems to strain and have difficulty singing a lot of his material, can't play the drums anymore, can't stand for any decent length of time, sits in a hunched position almost the entirety of his performances, and looks generally uncomfortable. I shudder to think what the Genesis reunion shows will be like. Perhaps his son, Nicholas, should be not only playing the drums but doing the singing as well. I hate to say it, but this is bloody awful and I have no idea what Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks saw in him to say let's get the band together again other than a nostalgia tour and shameful money grab. Some things are better left alone. If they were so insistent on getting Genesis back together, then they should have asked Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett to come along for the ride and do a broad cross section of material from the early days with a few songs from the Phil Collins era as well with Peter and Phil taking turns on lead vocals and back up harmonies. When singing sounds painful for the person performing that means it is time to put one's ego aside and accept reality in one way or another so as not to make one's fans feel as if they have been given anything less than the best that performer can offer. This is very sad to watch.
Seamusin I have to agree, he’s a shell of his former self. The voice is horrible and what are they thinking about a reunion, I saw them on the reunion tour I think it was in 2007 and it wasn’t that good. How could it be any good now.
Historical moment is like this: Phil, his great friend and his bud ... seeing himself in style, my good Phil ... no words, just a shake of the head and the supreme enjoyment of good music in excellent company
Mr. Sklar: My good sir; you are a major influence for me to learn bass (majored in bassoon/sax in college). Music, like cooking, soothes weary souls. Thank you very much for your musicianship.
He is the best, since I started college in 1978 and graduated in 1991 loved watching him.. He is the best. Even though it is later in life, he is the best person in the world for rock and roll.
As much as I like seeing him enjoying the stage with his son , I can't help but feel sad to see him reduced like this. He always has been my favorite drummer, especially with Genesis, and even 30 years later I'm still looking at old videos of him drumming Los Endos with awe. He can be proud of his achievements.
Just discovered your wonderful videos. Almost fall in tears watching these bright father and son moments between Phill and Nicholas. This is so precious. Thank you
Omg this right here really got me thinking when I was a little kid watching Tarzan, this man is a genius, his music is amazing, and I haven’t kept up with him for years, and it’s unbelievable to see he is still going, we can see he has a little trouble here and there and isn’t the same as he used to be, but the passion, love, and talent is still all there. I love this man, was part of my childhood.
boy, I wish this would have happened when Phil was still a magician on the drums. That would have been a stunning trio. And for good measures, let Chester Thompson join in, and the gateway to music heaven would have opened. But this put a big smile on my face too, and it made my day. Thank you legend.
Jason Bonham, Zac Starkey, Jay Weinberg and now Nicholas Collins. It's nice to see the children of these legendary drummers become as good (or even better) as their fathers.
Don't be surprised ok, it's true I don't usually do this. But the pandemic has really tore everything apart leaving lots of people depressed and sad. Thanks once more and remember to stay safe ❤️
I've watched and admire Phil most of my adult life. I am sad and happy at the same time to see this. Sad that he must drive himself to perform when clearly he has lost a lot, and happy to see his son carrying him on. And talk about like traits.. those faces and tongues on concentration :). It's amazing.
Im glad to see P. Collins having fun on the stage... He give us so much time of his life.... With music and lyrics. ... Show some respect please. ... Ps. .. And he is having fun with a Peruvian Cajon. .I can't ask for more👍👍👍👍
Isn't this another true to life testament. The other guy was right, the apple doesn't fall far from it's tree.. The musicians blood surely did flow... From Jaco to his son Felix Pastorius and now from Phil Collins to his son Nicholas. Goosebumps man, goosebumps.
Phil Collins is my foundation one of the greatest drummer of all times and his remarkable sound and feel on the drums theirs so many memories and music of his greatness i cant thank him enough for doing this !!!! THANK YOU FROM MY BOTTOM OF MY HEART PHIL COLLINS !!!!!

That was brilliant, great moment, let's not forget Phil was one of the best drummers on the planet so he must be proud of his son also gutted he can't do what he used to do. A great moment tho.
Awesome sight, to witness Phil watching his son, as if seeing himself years ago. Nic has been taught so well. Thank you for posting - wish I could have been there.

Honestly, what a legacy you have, Inspiring many, like me since childhood. Have a great birthday legend! Sincerely, one of my fav tracks!
I miss Phil and I miss Genesis. I treasure all of the many concert memories going as far back as 1981 ..and the albums I listened to before then. I hope Phil is happy, I will always love his music! Wish I had the opportunity to meet him but did get to make eye contact from the 3rd row ❤❤😊 Thanks for this great video!
I've seen Phil in concert in different places and I've always loved his music style. For him to have his son with him on tour is totally awesome. He is a great father and role model for his son. All fathers should be a role model for their siblings be it son or daughter.
Non potendo seguire dal vivo i tuoi concerti,mi accontento di averti su youtube,ma l'emozione non manca..un batterista d'eccezione, una voce che prende l'emotività..che dirti.. sii sempre presente..noi ci siamo...grande,unico!!!
1990 serious Hits live in Frankfurt germany, back then i was a little Punk when i was with my dad at the concert. All my life i am Listing this Musik and now i am crying See phil with his son on stage. I wish i was there with my dad aigan... Maybe i have the oportunity once aigan.

Loved Phill collins since I was a boy of 17 when I bought my first genesis LP and now I'm 61i still love him !!what a great example of someone who can do it all ❤
A true inspiration for many this man is. One of his best songs, ever. Thanks for being apart of my life, for the many years, and inspiring many. True legends Phil Collins & Genesis are. Imagine if music, was still like this. What a time it would be.
Phil collins fez parte da minha infância juventude e agora um pouco mais velha ainda amo ouvir suas músicas,um cantor de primeiro escalão com uma voz inconfundível, ainda bem está que vai deixar uma herança com tanto talento qto o dele
AWESOME!! His son is truly gifted, saw him play piano I want to hear him sing & he’s gorgeous to boot. I’m a great gramma & I still love the music I grew up on!!🤍🤍🕊🤍🤍
I think his son adores his father and he will become a very good drummer just like his dad and will follow in his footsteps and might even sing one day to and i really hope he sings to like his dad that would be second coming of another legend hopefully.
I don't think it's sad at all, I only wish I can grow old as gracefully and still have a purpose !!! Rock on phill !! Rock on !!! A pure example of how to age if one has too !!!
Phil must be SO PROUD of his son knowing that HIS drum skills have been passed to his son.. just imagine how phil must be feeling? A mixture of pride and sorrow because he will never play like that again.. PHIL, I SALUTE YOU!!♥️
