Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at Phil Collins and probably his biggest hit of them all "In the Air Tonight." Phil straps on his head mic on and starts belting away, this incredible song of amazing synths, bass and of course those drums. But I totally forgot that he was behind them! See my jaw dropping react now!

@@mrflipvideodude Yep. He’s always been one of my favorite drummers. He was solely the drummer until Peter left. They auditioned different singers and none of them really worked, so Phil offered to try and they didn’t look back. I personally love the stuff with Phil singing. Yes, there’s the hits, but there’s albums like A Trick of The Tail, Wind & Wuthering, And Then There We’re Three, Duke and others. Face Value is a great record. I love Phil’s solo career as well as Peter’s. Some really great music came out of that camp. The response I always get about Phil Collins is the singer from the 80’s. It seems that’s all people know him for. They barely know that he played drums.

Bill Bruford played backing drums on the Trick of the Tail tour while Phil went out front (and also stepped behind the kit) and then Chester Thompson (who also played on the tour from this video) took over on drums going forward. One of the rare anglo singers I was involved with during my youth in the 80’s France. Brad Cole the keyboardist does so much on this track. Brad does the intro live no sequencing. Brad also does the vocoder parts live. Chester Thompson was the longtime drummer for Phil and Genesis live

I absolutely love your freak out on this! I loved Genesis when Peter Gabriel was the singer and when he left it was like what do we do now? Their drummer Phil Collins sat in and man did it work!! I saw Live Aid live on tv that is. He played across the pond, flew on the Concord and played here in the same day! Pure freaking magic!!!! I loved that you weren’t quite sure as to his headset. I was giggling thinking HE IS THE DROP!! Whether Genesis or solo, Phil has been a part of my music landscape forever. Yes, I’m a bit older than you and a music freak chick!! 🙏🏼❤️

I was a freshman in college when this song came out in 1981 and I still get chills hearing it.

I remember getting Phil’s album No Jacket Required as a little girl. My dad was a huge fan and a drummer himself. I have such good memories and vibes over his music. He was so huge in the 80s. I’m reading his book right now and I’m so enjoying hearing more about his history.

This was in Paris, France! The whole concert is available on y.t. and his whole performance is phenomenal! All his greats are included. This is better than the original for me as well. It was so great to see your mesmerized reaction. Phil is truly legendary!

great reaction. Good comments about the production. Phil certainly is amazing, stellar, extraordinary moment in pop music history. Profound. Will last forever. Everything was spot on, the arrangement, the staging, the drama, the build, the lighting design in sync, everything

Yes, pure talent. Our artists didn't have to gyrate around the stage to get our attention, they are pure talent. Sometimes I feel sorry for this generation, that they will never know artists like this. All the studio trickery today, true talent seems to be evading these new generations. Now you are seeing why we say, we had the best music!!!!

Eu aqui emocionado com essa performance do Phil Collins e ao mesmo tempo triste por não ter tido a oportunidade de ter ido a um show dele.
