Gotta do it before it's too late. It's too sad if he doesn't get to enjoy the adulation. He fits all the requirements to be eligible. So does Genesis so that's twice he should be honoured. 😃

Please put Phil Collins in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame already. He seriously deserves it. All his songs are great and have meaning. Peter Gabriel was inducted twice once with the band Genesis, in 2010 and in 2014 as a solo artist. Phil Collins deserves that honor also as a solo artist.

Take me home to the mid '80's just for a couple of days please. I just wanna watch Joe Montana play for the 49ers one more time. Watch the Celtics Vs Lakers. Have a Winchell's doughnut. See my Grandparents one more time. Go to my old western themed McDonald's and have a McDLT. Play with my childhood dog Maggie. Play baseball in the backyard with my brothers and neighbors. Watch an original airing of Night Court. Say hi to my friend Billy (he got in the middle of bar fight trying to help his friend like a year after high school and lost his life). Ride my bike up to Tower Records and buy some cassettes. Back then all I wanted to do was be a grownup. If only I knew.

No, I don't remember that. I remember when they had to look like Bon Jovi & Cher. Phil was a standout. New artists like that still exist, & their music videos are worth watching for their creativity alone. Good music hasn't gone away & it isn't hidden; the _marketing_ just focuses too much on aesthetics, _same as it always has._

I was 23, wide eyed, totally excited about the future, and I was on my first flight to the US. It was on a TWA, smoking section of course, and this song was playing on one of the radio stations on offer. I can't describe the feeling I was experiencing, I remember it being sunny, cheerful, and just happy. Every time I hear it now I am transported to that moment. I've had a great life in the US, it has been home since. But I do wonder sometimes what life would've been like if I had stayed in Europe.

I'm 41 with a deep sense of nostalgic depression. Whilst I never listened to this song when I was in my younger years, I had noticed that my Father had this album maongst many of his records. I finally discovered this gem several years ago and it gives me a deep sense of wistful longing. I want to simultaneously cry tears of joy and sadness, and I really want to go back to the 80s, even though I keep telling myself that it is impossible and that nostalgia is just part of the exploratory journey of self-discovery that is life, for one and all. Despite all of that, the longing deep within me is a constant.

Take Me Home is the greatest song of all time. No, that is not an opinion....it is a fact. Let me prove it. Phil Collins, Sting and Peter Gabriel are in it for starters. All legendary vocalists. The name of the song 'Take Me Home' is something that no matter where are in your life, either big or small is something we all want. It can mean you just want to go home right after work after a stressful day, that you miss your childhood, or are reminiscing of the good old days. To those living with something terminal, it could mean that they want to see God. This song can be played during a joyous moment, or a deeply sad moment, or anything in between. It checks ALL the boxes as the perfect song. Facts only, folks.

The 80s were, without a doubt, the finest music decade EVER! People were creative, anything was possible, there was so much to explore, and days & nights seemed like they went on forever.

I first heard Phil Collins in 1978. Genesis "Follow you, Follow Me". I've always been a fan.

Seriously Phil, just take me home. In fact, take me back home to 1985 when this came out. That was really a great year for me. But I...I don't mind...

enzothebaker22 1985 was a Great year in music. Sting, Dire Straits, Tears for Fears, Howard Jones, Simple Minds.... the list goes on & on. But Phil really reached his apex that year with "No Jacket Required". Such a phenomenal album.

Anyone born in the 80s will have an exponential rise in the love of Phil Collins when you reach your mid 30s, it's well documented

I was born Nov 81 and I love all the 80's music! This song is so good! I remember being a kid in the backseat of the car and my dad cranking the tunes from the local radio station. 80's music takes me back!!!

I'll admit; growing up in the 90's (I was born in 83), I HATED Phil Collins. I thought he was corny, easy listening rubbish. But in the past year or so, I've really found a strong appreciation for his music. After hearing this in Mr. Robot, I was reminded of this song (which I hadn't heard in what feels like decades), and I had to find it. Such a brilliant song, not to mention I love songs that seem about one thing but are about something completely different. Respect!

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

+omar fuller I do like him. I just didn't like him growing up, before I had fully realized my musical tastes and learned to really listen to things without letting preconceived notions affect my opinions.

I feel the same as you do, it seems the eighties and Genesis were rubbish, but that was because we thought there was no way things could get any worse. Now compared to modern day music we can appreciate the talent Genisis and others of the time had. surviving through it makes it fun to reminisce about the lifestyles that went along with this music. but by the 90's , this music did not represent what young/ working class people wanted to hear. American culture in the 90's made it hard to rock Phill Collins and Rage Against The Machine without someone getting offended, lol'
