So much wisdom in this video that I didnt get when I was a beginner watching. Range betting since oop has pocket pair advantage, bluffing small pairs on high boards, never slowplaying ip, large sizing on river because of capped range
This is the first video of yours that I have seen, but I am a fan already. The way you explain the hands, the thought process and different hand possibilities, as well as the reasonings for bet sizes all made a lot of sense to me. Im gonna sub and check out the rest of your channel. Great job man!
One of the biggest misconceptions Phil Hellmuth has is "the people don´t get it...". His exceedingly insular perception makes him vulnerable. Most people who are watching poker vids nowadays have a pretty good idea of what´s going down.
It was a clear fold for Phil on the river. Any one - pair hand would have checked behind in Liv's position. The only bluff hand is A high diamond draw, and would have bet near pot size on the river.
I was considering leaving a comment about you using TRAPS ironically because clearly checking AA on the flop is not a trap until the turn came. Well done sir. You are quite the wily one... you should consider poker. Also, around 9:30 point, you make the best argument for GTO against the biggest possible drawback. I never considered that if they are playing in a poor way against some of your holding you lose on, over time they are making more mistakes than "great hero calls/folds." You are still the man sir.
I only watched it because of Liz. Watching her laugh at the end was worth it! I'd probably just play hand with her and wouldn't care if I lost or won. she would take me to the cleaners cuz I wouldn't be able to concentrate!

Hey Doug. The craziest hand I've seen recently is Nguyen vs Bicknell on Poker After Dark last week. Bicknell turns black AQo into a bluff raise on the river on Qh9d2h 8h 2c! At first I thought this was just bad, but now I'm not sure. Would LOVE to see a hand analysis on this. PLEASE
True. And while it's arguably true that perhaps he shouldn't have played it so slow, it is not automatically "wrong" to play things differently on occasion for myriad reasons. It's shallow to judge a person's play based on a single result. Statistically speaking, Phil would probably win quite a bit of money in this exact situation by playing it exactly as he did. And, as you pointed out, he could have very easily made a big raise at the end and actually did a great job in suspecting that might not be wise.
William Nolan it’s pretty objectively wrong to pick a very wet and straightening board like that to slow play Aces on tbf to Doug. If Phil wants to slow play Aces he can’t be doing it on boards like this where his opponents range has quite a lot of equity against his Aces
I really enjoy watching Phil take a beating, pretend nobody in the world could've played his hand better, cry about life being unfair, then boldly proclaim he's gonna bust them later due to how bad they play. Very ironic. Watching, and listening to, everybody at the table laugh at his childish antics is the icing on the cake
That's why i tell everyone that set mining is the best strategy with aces. Only go for a raise when they are suited otherwise see a flop and get out of the pot
I had to go back to Mueller's fold, because I thought he folded the case 5, but it was a 6. I remember how badly edited the "Poker After Dark" games were edited, and if you were to believe the pre-pot action, every third hand was a foul deck.

Anyways, I had no memory of this hand so I had to rewatch it. I often watched poker hands like that while enjoying a few glasses of rocket fuel. Suffice it to say, it appears we are both wrong. Lee folded the case 5. Mueller folded what looks like J8. I might have seen the five at first and was too upside to realize it was from action before Mueller. Who knows? I miss "Doug's Polker Hands" though. Good/entertaining analysis.
She may have been worried Phil had the AQ or possibly 10-10, JJ, or KK since he raised pretty big pre-flop. Her bets were well sized enough to get some value while at the same time inviting Phil to raise her with a weaker hand.

Never try to trap anybody . If you have strong hand , bet hard. Longer you go , more danger for your aces . JUNKIES always collect something down the rod . Usually some stupid straight.
All he had to do is bet the flop and she goes away, absolutely the worst possible flop for her. At that point, considering his 3-bet, she doesn't beat any of his possible holdings...AK, AQ, AJ, A10, or any pair higher than a 5. She has to fold.
