@@CaRlOSRoShI Only a mistake when the other guy calls. I think what Ivey did probably produces a fold most of the time. There's so many variants in poker but it's easy now to look back and say he made a "mistake" just cause that cost him the heads up but most of the time that's probably a good bluff that gets through.

Chip leader making a play for the pot on the turn is almost standard on a check/check board. Phil figured he has enough fold equity so AK/AQ/Small pocket pair is folding when he jams. He’s also live if (like we saw) player calls with pair of Js or 9s…in the long run that play works more then it hurts I say it’s a stretch to call it a mistake

Phil stated publicly that he has taken 5:1 bracelet bets from 7 people. I would bet these side bets would have paid twice first place money or more. Imagine the anti-sweat these guys had! 5:1 a good bet? Idk. Phil is good at all the niche games with smaller fields. If they are cross-booking at the same rate, i.e. if they tie it’s a push, then I would take Phil against anyone. Should WSOPE bracelets count? Phil says obviously yes. Bettors should have clarified explicitly otherwise I am inclined to agree, especially for any bettor named Helmuth.

I do not think it was a bad read or a mistake. The way the hand played Phil knows he's more likely than not up against a weak made hand with 8 outs to win (and may very well have him on the A9 here). On the 3M bet, with 11M behind on an open ender, it's either give up or give yourself a chance as he has enough still to push his opponent of a better hand as he will generally have al the 8Ts, Jx and hearts here as played. So he takes a chance and then misses on the river which is not the same as making a mistake IMO.
