I don't know if it was the most impressive, but getting payed 400k on the flop with a pair of sixes against kid poker was pretty sick. Especially since something like 6,8 or 7,8 is well within Daniels range. We know he loves those suited conectors and could easily have had a pair of eights here. Well played.

Phil and Kid Poker have such a huge history together. They may not be friends, but as Danny boy was eliciting too, they’ve played multiple times and Ivey always has a new tell and new ways of doing things to trip Daniel up. But it’s good fun and spirit between the two I’ve never read anything about bad blood outside the table.

Polk's play made no sense. Checking flop, flatting turn when flush draw hits, then raising river when it makes the straight. Polk can't rep anything for value. Not TT, AA, KK for those would've raised turn; not even 66 for that would've continued on flop and not 45 for that wouldve continued on flop as well. The only thing Polk had going for him was that it was a tournament and maybe thought Phil would be playing more conservatively.
@sdickinson5234

It seemed like it was a minimum defense frequency kind of thing where he knew he was going to be beat most of the time in that spot but you have to call sometimes, that's why he was expecting to lose the chips.
@michaelcohen9794
@michaelcohen9794 2 года назад
@@DescartesRenegade I disagree. You gotta understand that when your playing balanced poker like Doug was a check and a flat isn’t weakness. He can have a2s he can have 45 he can have sets he decided to trap the flop with. If he has a 2 he’s checking the flop. If he has 45 he’ll mix bets and checks on the flop. He’ll have the occasional full house

Assuming Cates isn't bluffing Ivey is either slightly ahead here or way behind. Ivey also needs to worry about the player in the big blind. He's likely calling here if this is cash game. Where this is tournament he can't afford to be wrong in this spot and thus folds. Keep in mind Cates is raising into two players as well. Top pros can make this fold fairly often given the dynamic. Still a great fold.

He is loosing against AK KJ 33. Or Jungleman has a strong draw. He thought he was not bluffing at that spot and he is behind on that ranges....
@jelmerbouma213
@jelmerbouma213 2 года назад
Jungle is telling a story that he can beat AK since jungle does not have AK in his range and Ivey does. So all Ivey has to do is to decide if jungle is bluffing or raising for value. Still an impressive laydown from one of the best poker players of all time.
@hurleycapetown8420

It’s a good fold but honestly unless you have a great read it would be a losing fold overall,obv they have played a huge amount live together so Ivey picked something up vs other unknown players he’s not folding that even if he thinks he could be beat he’s seeing the turn for sure.
