I like Phil Jackson. He’s a good guy. Philosophical, but plain-spoken. Very charming.

It is a little funny when people say that to me at least. I mean he had scottie and MJ, then Kobe and Shaq. Yeah, you better with 11 or so championships. But on the other hand, I do believe he was a great coach even though he had the best in history. He was a master at taming the ego of the elite of NBA players. Able to get MJ to sacrifice his offensive prowess for the team, able to work with Shaq and Kobe fighting for team leader. Able to somehow get Rodman to play 100 percent for the Bulls. Plus, maybe more than anything I think Phil had a talent for understanding players as individuals and getting them to use their individuality to be able to play as a team.

Phil Jackson’s mindset - you never know a coach’s mentality until you see the real side of them. Listen to their story and why they do things the way they do.

He was weird, for sure, but also masterful as the role of a good coach. He truly understood team dynamics, also was a kind hearted understanding person. At the same time, he knew when to put his foot down. Imagine kicking Michael Jordan out of practice? Imagine telling Kobe or Shaq to get out of the game and sit on the bench. He was a damn great coach. So good, MJ quit the Bulls if he couldn't play for Phil .
