Thank you for your thought on Irish people ... so nice of you💚.. and when i was in my youth days in school the first boy ever took notice of me was an Australian 38 years later i still think of this Australian boy that showed me so much interest 👫
What a tragic loss to the music world when Phil died. The same goes for his fellow Irishman, Rory Gallagher. On the stage they both had tremendous energy and presence and both gentle, shy and softly spoken when not playing. Both missed so sorely.
They performed live together for a couple of songs at a festival at the Punchestown Racecourse in 1982 also with Paul Brady, another incredible Irish musician. Sadly there is no footage of it on RU-vid but there are some audio recordings of it.
I saw Thin Lizzy open for Queen in 1977 and Phil made Freddie look like a rookie front man. He was absolutely riveting and all these years later my opinion has never changed.
@@jg769 46 years and a few hundred concerts later, including every major band you can think of, that performance of Phil's stands out as the single most electrifying moment. It was a privilege and one of my life's luckiest moments.
Unfortunately and wrongly the RRHOF is based on record sales, it should be based on influence to the genre. It's all capitalism baby. RRHOF is ironically not in the least Rock and Roll, it's a party for music execs to have the egos massaged and to command the biggest names in rock and roll as their personal entertainment. All fans have their own list of top 100 bands in the world and each list there in is more important than the entire history of the RRHOF.
Phil Lynott - a very talented wise and modest man . He wrote and composed beautiful songs . With his beautiful , strong voice he was able to sing in a variety of musical styles . He loved his country , loved people but for some reason he was unhappy . Although he tried to hide it, there was sadness in his eyes , sadness in his voice . On stage , he was happy to see his fans . I love the voice of Philip . Philip is one of the best vocalists of all time . We miss you Phil 🎶🎸
I was 11 when he died, Anne and I have really great early memories of him on TV but never saw him live. We'll go build a Time Machine and fly back to Hammersmith around 1977. 😉
He was so talented, handsome, charismatic, would have become a worldwide legend and would've been in the rarhof if he didn't pass so early, he's such a dub and were so proud to call him one of our own 😀
He talked so soft and beautifully.. I just had to make a comment about that. Talent wise, so in your face and irreplaceable. There will will never be another Phil Lynott, all of my love🖤
Nellie K. Adaba I think that he loved the fame , and took drugs because he thought that’s what Rock Stars did . He wanted to act like a Rocker through and through, but his body couldn’t cope with the lifestyle.
Saw Phil perform with Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy in 1977 when they opened up for Queen in Vancouver...great concert...didn't realize back then how lucky I was to have been there...Phil, Gary and Freddy Mercury all gone now but their music lives on!
When Phil died, we had a party in his honour. Strangely enough, subsequently we had many, many of these parties. They used to start something like this...... RIGHT! Phil Lynott memorial party..... NOW! Usually after preliminary drinks and were always spontaneous and very very reverent and good fun with all the right ingredients for a great time. Thanks Phil, we owe all these good times to you. 🍻⚡️
There's something about him what make it easy to connect with his personality. His look is so easy to en eye, his voice sounds so familiar, the way he talk, think and create songs is so interesting. Man of maany contradictions. My favourite musician and one of the best Rockers ever. Rest in your heaven Phil.
just saw yr comment. Phil/ Thin Lizzy were the most brilliant rock band that ever existed. Jesus I remember working at my first job and saved up to buy the jail break double album live. Fuck I wore it out. Emerald was I fuckin track. Still love it Over 40 yrs later. Up thin lizzy
One of the truly great frontmen of all time. So so sad how it all ended for him. A lovely bloke who had so much to live for and so many great songs to write.
RIP. Phil is one of my favorite artists because he is an original. The sad thing is I am getting older and he is no longer with us. I don’t think these ARTISTS realize how much their music really mean to the fans.
He showed how being a family man made him a better person and how fame doesn´t mean nothing in front of it. A message more relevant today than was ever before.
My mum brought me up on Thin Lizzy fell in love with the music the boys are back in town, still in love with you, dear miss lonely hearts, Parisian walkways the lot favourite band from when I was a child and still is now no band no music hits me in the same way I just sit and just listen to the guitar riffs in Parisian walkways and still in love with you and I just can’t help but wanna play along to it no other music makes me wanna do that every time I listen to it no other music has stayed with me for so long Thin Lizzy and Phil introduced me to music and to me there’s no better music nothing that connects with me in the same way his music does I wish I could have been around when he was cause it would have been something to be able too see him live and to just see him as person like in these interviews such a nice, humble, funny and honest man thank you for introducing me to music phil
An old National Guard bud introduced me to Thin Lizzy, I only knew, " The Boys" from classic rock stations....I was floored by the singing and duel leads! This guy was incredible, and in more ways than obvious, reminds me of Hendrix so much. Jimi, Phil and Stevie....what a jam that would be!
This guy, although he was famous and inspired lots of bands, was very sad. It´s clear that his speaking translates sadness hidden deep in nis eyes and in the tone of his voice. What a figure! Greetings from from Brazil to Ireland!
Whatever about today, it would have been interesting to see what Phil Lynott R.I.P. doing the late 80's and 90's music wise. Thin Lizzy were just as good as U2.
Look at the mad head of hair on him just like his good friend and also a fiercely proud Dublin man Luke Kelly and both sang whiskey in the jar brilliantly
@@davidcochrane1993 No way davey is that the lyrics? I had a feelin when i was putting this up i might get corrected but i'm singing this since i was 14! Thanks for being a gent about it man.
