The photographer and Phil Rudd's girlfriend, Michelle Cutelli, recorded a video with behind the scenes of the backstage of recording clips for the album Head Job.
Phil Rudd in my opinion is the only drummer for ACDC. Despite his issues in the past. It’s awesome he still loves to play and obviously appreciates his ACDC years by his walls
@@scampking23 Slade is great for sure. I agree.. And as Bango McCrash said. The best stand in. Everyone has their opinions ( If we’re allowed these days?? Hahaha). In my opinion...Phil Rudd just has that feel/ Groove and emotion that makes ACDC
Yeah ya know Cliff Williams ain't with them anymore either. ACDC is changing way too much. OK Bon died and it happens. Malcolm got achievers and that happens too. Thr only one left is Brian ND Angus Brian Johnson is good but not Bon Scott. But still ACDC. So maybe it's time for that real last farewell tour and let the legend live on. I hate the Ten thousandth last concerts from any band.
As a life long AC/DC fan who also plays drums, let's not get crazy; Phil is expendable. There's a reason no great drummer ever cites him an an influence.
@@ikigai47 Whos a great drummer? What makes a good drummer? The best drum line i have ever heard that impresses me is Children of the Grave by Black Sabbath. That is bad ass. I used to play guitar and now play bass. I am more than happy to lay back and pump out 1/8th notes with some fill ins and walk ups and downs or some triplets every now and then. Even tried country but damn. I have played with quite a few drummers that tried to do way too much to "stand out" and it sucks because I become percussion and keeping the beat. Guitar doesnt matter too much. Bass matters more than guitar but drums? Everyone can tell the screw up. I am like Lemmy on this one. Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, 20 second solo (if that long) chorus and outro and end it.

Phil Rudd is a fucking hard hitting, time keeping powerhouse of pure thunder. He's rock n' roll in every way. People critical of his shit cannot duplicate it with Phil's flavor and precision. So simple, yet so complex.
are you kidding? I've heard many drummers do exactly what he does after a couple years of playing. I do think his simplistic approach works really in AC/DC
@toddlavigne6441 no, not kidding. Groove and feel is something that either you have, by nature, or you grow into. 30 years of playing out in more cover bands and tribute bands than I can count, you have a lot of "good" drummers who still don't understand the nuances of driving a groove. Having a meter that's in touch with feel at all times is an attribute of a seasoned/mature musician, in many cases. It's more than playing a 4/4. Rudd managed to have a certain swagger and feel -- one thar was noticeably absent or vastly different when Simon Wright and Chris Slade were in the band. Slade had a fast meter. A lot of those songs lost their feel. Slade's strength though was how he could carry or push a shuffle groove. There's far more to playing than just playing the song outright. Mastering feel is something some musicians who have been playing for years and years still don't understand. It took me pairing up with a Vic Wooten trained bassist about 15 years ago to really teach me just how much groove matters. In everything.
@@toddlavigne6441 I know it's been two years but I want to add in the Chris Slade was no slouch. There's a video of him and the band keeping a rhythm for like 10 straight minutes while Angus was working out some guitar problems. His endurance was amazing
@@thomasdaniels6824 I have to admit I think I have a negative bias against Phil Rudd because I don't like him as a human being. Chris Slade, I think is a good, good drummer. What a gig to play with a band like AC/DC What an accomplishment. But when people call Phil Rudd, the best?? That's a relative thing I suppose. He got the job with AC/DC and stuck with it. Good decision. He did a good job as their drummer. Kudos to them both. Living their dream.
Thee most under rated drummer ever. Genius in simplicity, making you beg for a break down, cymbal crash, or something. Then he denies you as the anticipation climbs, then explodes. Love Phil!!!
thank you for showing this . Seeing all those awards for album sales should tell the world Phil is the greatest drummer of all time. Like Mal said he is the sound of ACDC .
I'm a Bonham fan from way back but Phil held it down solid and it just so happened to end up resulting in one of the biggest most successful rock bands of all time chew on that.
Hes caught a lot of crap over the years, but hes always been one of my favorite drummers. Hes got a solid, uncompromising, driving beat that's simple but powerful. A straight up rock n roll drummer who's tight and traditional...one of the best.
It’s really hard to find rhythm guitarist base guitarist and the drummer who play solid and accuracy without any single mistakes. This band is perfect, fantastic no one come closer to them. Rock n Roll super stars.
Oh I got crazy when I see you rocking to "Shoot to thrill" and remember each second of my 39 AC/DC concerts (where I´ve been). Yes! You`re a part of ths band, you rock it, thank you.
BEST AC/DC MANCAVE ...I"ve ever seen.......well done Sir...much respect...saw ya in 1979...Highway Tour...was amazing...much Love. Thanks from California AC/DC Brazil...
This is one of if not my favorite song a d that's because of the drum and guitar solo towards the end , everytime it comes on the radio at that part I tell everybody with me to listen and I crank it up even louder for that solo , You're the best .
Thanks for this video Michelle, I just came across it today.. I always hoped phil was ok. And I can see he is. I really respect his work. The new album is almost out...rock on....
1:22 Interesting to see him practising with a traditional grip which you would never see him play in a 'Live' setting. Perhaps there is more 'finesse' to Phil's playing than many previous contributors have given him credit for.
5 seconds into an AC DC tune you can tell if its Phill on drums or not. He has got a timing no one else does. The other drummers all been good BUT Phil got hes own way of locking a groove. Outstanding!! The best!
Phil Rudd, What ever you did or didn't do you are awesome I believe that thing's will get much better for you and your family. You are the master of the drums in your band of AC DC.
Back stage? The ease of no suprise when catching her filming him says “ not another fkg camera “ He travels heavy for an old geeza! Much love and respect sent to you and yours Phil!
That's must be why Phil just sold that house...he needed MORE wall space for his sales awards! And I love that he listens to AC/DC just like we do, playing air guitar and rocking away. Phil is a beast with the back beat
Let me tell you this. He put a straight groove down the middle for the rest of the band to hang off. It blows you away the perfect timing of the beat. The frills and sugar candy is what Angus puts on it. Phill earnt his corn by doing that. People like me (drummer for 30 years I need to hit stuff it's in my make up) bonham and buddy and most have the same mental issue they gotta hit. It's just sad that Phil blew the gig. That's all. Peace x
Yeah! I heard one time someone told me that they're jamming often some Blues and Jazz the fours together, I mean: Angus, Malcolm, Cliff and Phil of course.
@@martymartin2894 well that's a watch yes...but a time-keeping machine in music is apparently called a metronome and Phil Rudd is the definition of a human metronome 🔥🙏🏻
When you're in a category of one there is no comparison. In the face of all the technicians Phil is the legend that cuts right through to the core and (with the exception of Ian Paice) influenced me like no other drummer.
A proud man and quite rightly so, a proud wife also. And we proud fans. Well done Phil 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 AC⚡️DC helping us get through this topsy turvy time in history. Thanks guys ❤️ Gods never die 🤘🏻
Rudd nobody took your place! Bon would of never let it happen! You messed up but u were the time keeper! Not slide! So live and be proud! You were the time keeper Bon one day again will say what's up Phil u got a smoke! Ur the man!
Awesome, awesome player...sounds easy what he did, but his groove was completely original In the rock world ..IMO without Phil AC/DC would have been a fairly successful Aussie rock band, with him they achieved global success.
Phil Rudd looks so badass smoking a cigarette while rocking out on his drums he kinda reminds me of a badass rockstar version of Clint Eastwood from the good, the bad , and the ugly 🤘🤘 never change Phil
Best AC/DC drummer ever!!! You can see that in this little video. He understands Malcolm and Angus blindly in the rhythm, call it swing or mood or whatever...He has the AC DC sound!!!! Maybe too much drugs?
