Thanks so much both for this wonderful episode, took me back to the mid 1970/80's, caught some nice barbel and chub here and saw the biggest pike I've ever seen, estimated at over 35lbs and looked to be 4ft long!! an absolute monster!!. I always said the middle Severn is one of the most picturesque stretches of river in the UK with the wonderful sight and sounds of the steam trains as a backdrop-pure heaven, great to have the aerial views too, cheers Peter.

@@AnglingDirectTV morning Phil, used to fish the harbour inn side down to the lovely bridge, that pike was so big it was the only fish that actually gave me chills, I'm not sure I would have wanted it on the other end of my line-just glad not to be a roach or chub in its field of view!!.

What brand of 10lb mainline and hooklength were you using? The hooklength looked finer as if it was a different brand
@AnglingDirectTV
@AnglingDirectTV 8 месяцев назад
Hi Accyboom, my choice of mainline was 10lb Korda Subline. It has great abrasive resistance which is very important on rivers like the Severn. Hook length is will be either Korum Smokeshield mono or 10lb Drennan Supplex flouro. Regards Phil,

Noticed on the trent video you did that you were using 15lb line and 15lb hooklength. Was this because you were fishing for bigger fish or trent more snaggy than severn?

What would you change/ what swims would you choose to fish if the river was high?
@AnglingDirectTV
@AnglingDirectTV Год назад
Hi Ollie, if the river was in flood. I'd be looking for the slack water near to the main flow. Obviously bigger leads too. Similar to my approach in this video I'd explore each swim by regularly re-casting around the swim looking for fish. Regards Phil,

Hi Phil another comment/ question If I may? Was the decision not to feed anything based off the time of the river or just simply waiting a roving and exploring session? Thanks Jon
@AnglingDirectTV
@AnglingDirectTV Год назад
Hi Jon, I didn’t feed any loose feed because quite simply I didn’t feel I needed to. Similar to using cheese paste for chub I sometimes like to keep on the move to find the fish. On other occasions I will try to build a swim by little and often baiting. On this trip I was keen to keep exploring all the nice looking spots. Regards Phil
