Took him another 10 years to walk away , , that was a slow walk , , Mason is a better person these days & I'm sure they're both fine about that now , , unless Phil still doesn't like him ?
everything else aside Phil Taylor is THE Greatest dart player of all time , no doubt about that , there are no doubts at all , if he is big headed good luck to him , two 9 darters in one match , who else has ever done that eh? There's nothing worse than someone talking in your ear an getting in your head when playing darts. an that is what mason was trying to do to taylor .but it back fired big time

Phil Taylor was better than everybody else. It was down to all other players to practise more and improve themselves as darts players and human beings 👍
Hardly big headed when you've won over 100 ranking titles. He has earned the right to have a confident or cocky attitude. He is the best player ever to pick up a set of darts
+william redfern Way off the mark. OK most darts players are a bit overweight but they don't drink on stage.. it is not just a pub game... and even if it were, its a very skilful game,
Taylor shouldnt have to apologise for being the best. He was a gentleman last night when Chizzy knocked him out - proper sportsman. I think Mason won a game of 501 in the Dog and Duck in 2001 but i couldnt be sure. Anyway Phil didnt like it and he's not having it!
I love it when he says an obscenity while complaining about obscenities from Mason. Phil's emotions often got the better of him in interviews and he'd say some frankly bizarre things at times, but the standard of his play put him on a different planet to anyone else. At least he stuck around for another 10 years! I sorely miss him. 👍
Taylor is/was a hypocrite, I'm sure I remember him telling Barny to f off multiple times on stage after a match....darts isn't actually missing him atm is it?
Unfortunately you're wrong about Taylor. I've met him a few times, spoke to him for hours and even played against him. He's a top top fella, he's a winner, a joker and helped me greatly. I have huge respect for Phil for who he really is which is not what people out there think he is.
Woody81 Met him quite a few times and spent some quality time with him and he's taught me a lot about the game, so you may well have caught him on a bad day or misinterpreted something he's said or done. His character is something not everyone is gonna like but I've never found him to be an are to me or anybody I know.... maybe he just likes me or something lol
I wouldn't say he is a bottler, Phil is correct when he says Chris aint got the head for it. He's okay when its going alright but when things are not perfect, his head drops like a lead baloon and self destructs.
Taylor was a bit of an enigma in some ways, he single handedly dragged this game up and out of the gutter when he was undoubtedly the very best player in the world. However, I think he struggled with accolade that came with it. Can you imagine the response from Bristow in that interview, he would have simply agreed with Mason and said I am Biily Big Bollocks as he just found out for himself. Taylor never really had that 100 percent arrogant streak it just wasn't in him. He felt he deserved respect and I would say he did, certainly as a player. He worked harder than all the others because he soon realised that in those days only the very top player earned the money, its very different today with all the cash freely available
4:00 I'll c him upstairs and see how big n brave he is, thing is we all know how big n brave mason is he was jailed for battering his mrs. Big man. I met phil at Rileys in Oxford recently wot a great guy he is a true insiration to the sport dedicated to the max, a true ambassador to darts.
@@markkinrade2739 Taylor only dominated due to lack of competition, not his fault i know but when your facing a player who can only average early to mid 90s then all Taylor had to do was turn up. When MVG first came on the scene he was ripping players heads off, including Taylors. Taylor had little to no competion for years. The rivals he did have, he still destroyed them in the end, like Priestley, Manley, Barny, Part. Soon as the players started getting better, Taylor was getting more angry and bitter on stage. He could not handle the pressure so he hung up his darts before he was 60, how embarassing. MVG beat much better opponents than Taylor ever did. MVG is the GOAT!!! Topic over
