Mad God is epic! Recently been delving into creepy old cartoons and stop motion which has helped further inspire my art. I have found when looking for inspiration I go down a rabbit hole of various kinds of creativity and art forms. Mad God left an impact to say the least.

But is there a story? I had to give up on the “movie” when it stopped being stop motion and was just people tearing apart a corpse.

I think the first half hour is really well done. Unfortunately, the use of real actors destroys the atmosphere. The cheap fingernails and the cheap backdrop do the rest. I realize that it takes 5 to 6 months to make a 3-minute film with stop motion, whereas a shoot with real actors takes 1 day. But this is completely to the detriment of perception. After that, the animations are also worse and seem to have been supported with CGI. The soldier drives the car without moving his arms. He also doesn't turn his head when turning a corner. I have the feeling that they wanted to finish the project as quickly as possible without considering the overall result.

Yeah the live action sequences definitely felt jarring, harshes the flow and cheapened the vibe. But towards the end I was more willing to get back on board and forgive it if you think about it more as another abstract feature that makes the rest feel somewhat more surreal
