I can’t believe I forgotten all about this song, this is still a great song in 2022. Phil Vassar is one of the most underrated country singer and songwriter, he had good songs period
i'm hardly a country fan - my taste runs more to Deep Purple - but i've seen Phil in concert twice, and i absolutely LOVE his music. the first time i saw him, it was just him and his guitarist J Dog for a free concert sponsored by the local country radio station... small crowd. my then-girlfriend (now mrs. myrry) spotted the marquee outside a nearby hotel. we got to meet him afterwards for a quick greet & photo and i've been a fan ever since. the man is so polite and down-to-earth friendly... after 20 seconds in his presence, you totally forget you're in the presence of a famous musician.
i love this song its so fun and i can't wait to see phil vassar in concert for the 2st second time tomorrow at the #SoCalFair in Perris, CA. And also I got backstage passes for his show too for tomorrow night to meet him for the 2st time too before his show I can't wait I am so #excited.
Phil Vassar is amazing. I just saw him in concert a few days ago in my hometown of Missoula, Montana. He's so funny, so kindhearted, and just as amazing a singer as he's always been. And he sang this song! So hilarious!
I got to help with a concert that had phil vassar played in with Neal MacCoy. Phil vasssar given all the help phil vassar road crew Tshirts it was awesome
Hi Phil, Just saw your show in Derry, NH a couple weeks ago, Love your stuff. This was my favorite song of the show. Was my first concert and I liked it, even though I never likes country music before.
I have always liked Phil Vassar, and he continues to deliver. I just introduced my two year old to his music and she was dancing immediately. This one is particularly amusing, and very catchy. Phil is one of the two active country musicians I still listen to.
does anybody remember watching cmt in the early 2000s for phils music videos like just another day in paradise Carlene" Rose Bouquet" Six-Pack Summer" "That's When I Love You" American Child" This Is God" "Ultimate Love?
Now I'm officially a Fan! Earlier this evening I watched 'Touchback' and one of the Closing soundtracks caught my attention, 'Nothing Without You' - after doing a little searching around (and finding the soundtrack here on youtube, and no where else), some pretty darn good music!
Lmao I’m surprised this made it in the country market. You would think a song about crossdressing wouldn’t do very well among country audiences. Fun song.
This song implies that Bobby crossdresses not just for drinks, but because he has fun doing it. I think this is the one song we can all get behind! 🇺🇲🏳️🌈
I've had Taylor Swift's Shake it Off stuck in my head all week and then my friends were talking about country songs. I told them about this song and now this one is stuck in my head.
I don't think this is offensive. He even says "no one cares these days"... I could be wrong, but even as a gay man, I'm not offended. I think it's pretty funny. Not to mention Bobby is pretty hot. LOL.
Sorry for coming in to rant, but I absolutely agree. The song implies in a good few verses imply that Bobbi isn't just here for free drinks, but that he actually enjoys his femininity and hitting on men. I wouldn't call the song trans-rep, but it's clear that in the universe of the song (when taken like a story)Bobby/Bobbi has a very flexible relationship with his gender identity, and I think that's beautiful.
my dad when i was little. i walke dinto my parents bedroom to see my mom pinning a dress to him because he was gonna go to a costume party at a bar, and from his story *he didn't even shave himself so he was pretty ugly in the dress* Some dude drink so much started to hit on my dad xD
The video kind of undermines the more open-minded message of the song by framing the cross-dressing as a way to get free drinks on Ladies' Night. Still, a lot of fun, especially for a macho music genre like country. Fun to dance to, too.
@SlayerboyM88 That's funny, I liked the song better before I saw the video. The message of tolerance from the words is better than the poking fun at others from the images.
I don't think it's offensive at all :) It's a sweet song about how Bobbi dresses however he wants and everybody accepts him and lets him have fun. Seems awfully progressive and kindhearted for being released in 2008, so that's awesome.
This song is not the trans propaganda you want it to be. Vassar clearly refers to “Bobbi” as a “he”, and points out that there isn’t a chick in the men’s room.
