(Filmed by Natasha) Philip Sayce - Guitar & Vocals, Sam Bolle - Bass, Michael Leasure - Drums Filmed & Recorded on April 30, 2022 at the Dallas International Guitar Festival philipsayce.com/
Absolutely crushing guitar work by Philip, but also a huge shout out to the drummer & bassist for holding down the bottom end! Definitely giving of the Layton/Shannon vibe
He just never gets lost on the fretboard. It’s like he doesn’t think about where he’s going to go next....he just lands there. And his bends and vibrato are astounding.
@@turbopromodified absolutely, it's like he's got magnet hands. His mastery of the guitar is actually unlike anything i have seen. It's incredibly inspiring. Probably the best vibrato i've seen too!
@@fedup3449 They both have that Hendrix-ish thing going on. I remember hearing Sayce when he was backing Melissa Etheridge and he was far more restrained. If he ever sounded like Robin Trower it was on the track 'Unexpected Rain'. He's wild when he's solo. As good as anyone out there. Wah, univibe and a decent overdrive/fuzz along with a Strat is all that's needed. 👍
I was there and saw that performance and it was truly spectacular. although I was a little bit disappointed with one thing at the Dallas International Guitar Festival. all of the guitar players that I saw there were shredders. in your face blast your face off playing 500 miles an hour. there were no guitar players that had a little bit of finesse and Grace like b.b. King. I did not see any acoustic guitar players or fingerstyle players on stage. it would have been nice to have seen some different types of guitar playing instead of just the shredders
The "Masters of the Telecaster" on Sundays which feature a number of Tele players could be an option for you. No shredding generally with that group and the artists that play at the beginning of each day also are more low key with jazz and blues
Remember thah Phillip played with one of the greats of all time, the one and only JEFF HEALEY,and Jeff was the only guitarrist that can put Phillip in second place in terms of fierce playing.Phillip and Eric Steckel are nowdays the most enjoyable guitar players to watch and listen.
Holy sh!t. I need to call my counselor cuz i just saw a guitar get sexually assaulted.lol. take that! 1st position of the minor pentatonic! 13 mins of crap your pants guitar playing. I love this dude! 🎸 ❤️
You people on the internet never cease with the dumb shit. Why can’t y’all casuals just appreciate something instead of just continuing with lame comparisons. Remember jimmy never made it to 28 and he influenced the entire music industry and remember that phill is almost twice the age of jimmy meaning he’s been able to play guitar for thousands of hours more than jimmy ever did. So hypothetically speaking jimmy would have gotten better had he made it to 45
