In this masterclass, Prof. Philipp Stubenrauch works on the beginning of the Dittersdorf's Double bass concerto no. 2. This masterclass took place in the Escuela Reina Sofía (Sony Auditorium), February 2024.
Student: Alberto Díaz-Pallarés Gil
Accompanying pianist: Marharyta Kozlovska
Venue: Auditorio Sony de la Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía (Madrid) 20/02/2024
C. D. von Dittersdorf: Concerto for double bass and orchestra no. 2 in E major (double bass and piano reduction) - I. Allegro
Abstract:
Regarding the student's interpretation, Prof. Stubenrauch offers suggestions on articulation and phrasing, emphasizing the need for it to be more natural: music should be fun and joyful, regardless of the technical difficulties involved in playing it. He suggests options for using different bows than those in the edition provided.
Stubenrauch continues with recommendations concerning musical phrasing, bowing techniques, and arm movement, among other issues. The professor believes it is better to play standing up because sitting limits movement more. They practice these body gestures and the professor recommends exercises for coordinating the bow with the left hand.

He says you can do what you like at least 10 times, but he complains at how the student interprets this piece, what kind of a BS masterclass is this. This is a children's concert at best. How can this be the top of the Bass repertoire beats me. Still in these days were there is so much repertoire for this instrument. Just play this on and Keyboard so you can see what an awful piece of crap of a Double Bass Concerto this is. Its embarrasing that this ridiculous mockery of a supposed to be professional concerto is still played at a high level. Debería darles vergüenza ajena postear este energúmeno disparate.

All this to only say negative things, that's not even constructive criticism
