The Miguel Malvar-class frigate is a class of frigates designed and currently built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) for the Philippine Navy. It was previously known as the HDC-3100 Corvette based on the company's product nomenclature system and the service's acquisition project name until it was reclassified to its current designation.
The Philippine Navy is expecting the delivery of two new corvettes acquired under its Corvette Acquisition Project under the Revised AFP Modernization Program's Horizon 2 phase, covering the years 2018 to 2022.

Philippine Navy must also upgrade the weapons and armaments of the 2 Rizal Class Frigates,put 8 cell Vertical Launching System on both ships for additional Surface to Air Capability and additional defense as well of both ships and make it a 2-Quadruple Anti-Ship Missile or even install SEARAM Defense Systems on both ships,make it heavily armed as much as possible,because the more weapons it can carry, the higher it's capability in defending and securing Philippine Territories.

sana next is much bigger, yung around 4k - 4.5k tons tapos increase VLS from 16 to at least 32. tapos build more. tapos simulan ang local manufacturing ng missile parts like guidance systems at radar. marami naman ang pool ng software engineers natin so pwede tayong gumawa ng sariling atin na controller para sa indigenous guided missile research.

Since they already finalized the partnership of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and Cerberus to restore the Agila Subic Shipyard, there's a big possibility that the future navy assets will be built there for easy and fast maintenance and repairs. As of the current arrangement, they still need to go back to South Korea for repairs and maintenance which consumes a lot of time and money.

I agree with your statement there, that we need at least 3 submarines, 2 submarines operationally ready at any point in time, while the third sub is undergoing preventive maintenance/repair/upgrading works which takes weeks or months to complete.

It lacks a secondary gun which is the 30 mm gun to minimize colateral damage when engage the target. Also they armed VL Mica short range missiles, its just basically a normal missile armed to a fighter jet instead or ESSM in quadpack configuration using Mk 41.VLS and can carry more missiles than this

Hoping our AFP/PN will have many new military equipment such as destroyers (12) frigates (36), corvettes (36), offshore/onshore patrol vessels (60), patrol boats (60), fast attack crafts or MPAC (240), fast missiles craft (36), multi-role fighter aircrafts (180), Boeing P-8 Poseidon (2), attack helicopters (60), anti-submarine helicopters (36) and submarines (4), missile air defense systems, Unmanned aerial/sea vehicles, and high advance military communication systems for first line of defense and protection of our country's EEZ/territory. On 2024 June 4, weeks before the BRP Miguel Malvar was launched by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Octaviano Enterprises revealed in an image of a plaque for the Offshore Combat Force's 36th Founding Anniversary, showing what will be the names of the future corvettes, then classified as frigates - BRP Miguel Malvar (FF-06), and BRP Diego Silang (FF-07).

Bro, I'm curious, if you know, are you aware of the VLS installed in this ship, is it MK 41 or the K-VLS? (Korean VLS) I asked around and searched through the net, but haven't found the answer yet.

Yes, me too. I don't have any other information on whether the Korean variant VLS will be used, but according to information and other resources, it is more likely that the 16-cell VL-MICA VLS will be used. If K vls is used, it is likely that the K-SAAM with mach 2 only will be installed, which is the same as the operational range of VL Mica, which is 20 km but with a max speed of mach 4 for vl mica.

20 km lng range ng VL MICA, air launch variant yung 60-80 km. Dapat Mk41 vls na lng ininstall. Para sana mas marami mailagay. RIM 162 ESSM sa 8 cells, 4 missiles per cell yun since quadpack configuration ang RIM 162, range 50+km. Tapos sa rest na 8 cells kahit SM-6 RIM 174 extended range active missile, range 240 km ( 460 km pag vertical) total of 32 missiles na sana kung mk41 na 16 cells. Tapos parang 12 cells lng yan nasa BRP malvar, instead of 16. Hays. Tinodo na lng sana yung armaments.

Kaya nga tinipid pa sa Air defense capability e yun nga dapat priority 20km e mga 10 secs lang time nyan para maintercept yung mga hypersonic missile bago makarating sa barko natin yung ciws last resort na yun mga 2 seconds bago makarating yung missile saka magagamit.

Minimum 2km/sec yung speed ng hypersonic missile, 10secs lang time yung meron ang crew ng barko para madepensahan. Sa 10sec na yun mag aacquire tas radar lock pa ng target wala finish na yung frigate natin bago pa makareact yung crew.

Phalanx is an old design compared to Gokdeniz 35mm that has it own independent radar and optical fire control and much more advance than Phalanx. Gokdeniz uses air burst ammunition and has greater range than Phalanx ciws.
