Hi travel beans i am from Philippines i love my country too much and i never been in Thailand but i am here in kuwait and i also travelled and observed some countries . ALL i can say is, Philippines lack of infrustractor. Why? Because Philippines is always experiencing huge typhoon that distracted many buildings and houses instead of focusing a new project, government now is focusing a new victims.. -aside from that filipinos are lack of respect when it comes in the road they are not humble .and We considered Philippines is dangerous Reasons: BECAUSE of their filipino time like for example you have meeting at 1pm and they arrived at 1:30pm or 2 pm and "SINGIT-SINGIT PORTION" is applied and that cause huge traffic and hothead and blow horn to much😂😂 . Filipinos Advantages are... They are unique and famous WHY? In every angle of the world there is filipinos . PHILIPPINES is rich in nature and economy But i am confused why Filipinos when it come to money THEY are down.? Philippines is better than Egypt And Egypt is also poor country but their is filipinos working their how much more in Thailand.....but still Proud to be PINOY here
I'm Thai, have never been to Philippines but met many Filipinos in the US and made a few Filipinos friends in BKK; I really have to admit that they definitely are friendlier/more outgoing than we are. They are somewhat like Brazilians, Italians, Spanish...people that enjoy going out, having fun together, but many Thais (especially who live in BKK) tend to be more reserved like Canadians or British. This is not a competition. Go where you like and feel happy to. I want us (Asian Countries) economically grow together.

This is by far the greatest and very fair comment that i’ve seen in this thread..all of them knocking each other down because they can’t accept their differences.i’ve been to Thailand and it’s a very beautiful country and has very beautiful people in it too.not so much fan of spicy food but tried thai food and it’s really good.so much have happened that i really want to go back and try new things.i suggest to people who watch this video to appreciate what foreigners can learn from our respectable country.and respect other countries culture people and food.to each his own.we got used to our own food that sometimes it’s hard to appreciate foreign food,but please be adventurous about it cause life is short and sometimes you’ll never know what will hit you.

I'm Thai.I have been PH last month and stay there 15 days. I have explored to Manila , Coron ,El Nido, Puerto Princesa and Balabac. All there so much wow. The local people are so friendly.I will comeback on March again. If I must choose I choose both.We have anything in common.We are Asean ❤

Been to Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Peru and a few more ...Asian people are some of the most beautiful people in the world. But for me, it's the Philippines, it so reminds me of my country Ireland, happy people, their front door is always open, fun loving people, despite being dragged up for Karaoke and emptying the whole village once my gob opens 😂😂. Now once the Karaoke machine comes out, you just see my back and a cloud of dust rising behind me 😂 I'm gone... But Thai food, is second to none...delicioussss Thailand is a bit to commercialized for me, as you say it knows what the tourist wants. Most of the Philippines is unspoilt. The lack of internet etc is a good thing, better conversations etc... Peru is also friendly, when off the beaten track, there's alot of curiosity from them, and the lack of English, makes it challenging, to say the least...best thing out of Peru, was my set of Panpipes I bought... Vietnam, I liked the food, nice people, but in a few places, we were ignored, only to find out, they thought we were American, which made things uncomfortable, but that was a few years back.... Read an Article recently, putting the Philippines as the second most dangerous country in the world, Colombia being the most dangerous, to be honest, I was horrified. The article must have been written by someone that lived in a shoebox and as ignorant as fuxx. It's my home from home....thumbs up to the Filipinos , your a rare kind, special people...👌👍👌👍

Why foriegners vlog much about the philippines, obviously philippines is a big market for them because of our english fluency. Who the hell will read them in thailand, vietnam and indonesia since very few know english. Another thing is foriegn vloggers know that filipinos are social media updated and mania. They capitalize thier vlogging expertise by exaggerating topics to catch filipino market. How much money they get, surely it is huge enough to finance thier travel around the world.
I've been to both countries and both are amazing country/food/people !!! Bangkok is a concrete jungle for me and having a hard time going to places, while Manila is becoming one also, but easier to move around the huge metro suburbs, w/ four (4) Largest Malls in the World and most of all because everyone speaks fluent English !!! With respect to a natural beauty, Philippines tops it all with 7,641 islands surrounded by stunning acqua/blue water beaches (comes w/ white, brown, pink and even black sand close to the volcano), mountains, hills, volcanoes, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and lots of places for hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling, wakeboarding, canyoneering, rafting its like you're in the PARADISE... Some places looks like you're in Ireland, New Zealand, etc... Most bloggers/RU-vidr prefer PHILIPPINES because of natural beauty, more adventures, people's hospitality and most of all English is widely spoken and it's the most Westernize nation in Asia. BTW, I'm from VEGAS and will be retiring in the PHILIPPINES next year... SORRY THAILAND !!!

I agree 100%. Fortunately for the Filipinos, the current President has taken these concerns to task and has acted on them like in Boracay island and other tourist destinations and has already let in a third player to come in to provide a better internet service for the country. Hopefully, by his term's end in 2022, we will be at par with our Asean neighbors infrastructure-wise.
I use to love Thailand but after travelling the Philippines for 2 months this year I've changed my mind. The Philippines is lot more of an adventure, its also cheaper and has some amazing beaches, scenery and scuba diving. I know the food isn't as good but I did enjoy it after a while. After going to Thailand for 10 years I just find it so touristy and full of Chinese. You have to go to places like isaan to get away from the tourists now.
You can smell the sunscreen as soon as you land in Thailand. I love both but I completely agree with you. We have been coming back to Thailand for the last 7 years and it is just getting busier and busier.

I am a Filipino-American. Although , I have never been to Thailand, I always go and eat Thai food. I love Thai Food in New York, California and Texas. I know the local food in Philippines has a long way to go because of the standard of living there is way too low. In spite of low standard of living with poor quality of life you will see the Filipinos are still smiling and happy. They know how to make you feel comfortable. They will respect you and call you “Sir” and “Ma’am”. The surprising part is they will invite you to their homes and share their food with you with nothing to exchange in return. However, there are great food in the Philippines. You can find them especially the international variety food in the city restaurants, malls and I believe they have some amazing foods. Once the Philippines is well developed in the future with bullet train running throughout the nation as the major islands will be connected as planned. They will establish a new standard of living things would be better! The Philippines is The Promise Land and they will rise! The home of the true Garden of Eden!
I lived in Thailand from 2006-2011 and have also visited since maybe 10-15 times on holiday . The Thai baht is quite strong at the moment , plus prices just keep going up. Thailand has just become too touristy and the Thais are definitely not as friendly as they used to be. I have been to the Philippines 5-6 times , I am starting to prefer the Philippines and don’t have that much interest in returning to Thailand for a while .

Thailand Football Sawadi, krap. When you do have the time, visit Palawan, Siargao, and/or Boracay for the beaches. These three locations are the highly - promoted beach areas in the Philippines. Then there's Bohol, Siquijor, Gigantes Island, Manjuyod Sandbar (in Negros Oriental province - the "Maldives" of the country), Cebu (waterfall canyoneering & whale shark - watching).
Filipinos are happy and friendly people. And the beaches in the philippines are insanely awesome! Thailand is also amazing in its own unique way... they have the identity on their cuisines and the rich preservation of the culture. I think its not fit to compare both countries cause they both have its distinctive characteristics. You cannot compare apples to mangoes... or bananas to oranges. Whatever it is, let’s enjoy and explore the beauty of both countries. Cheers!

On point. Both are beautiful and unique. Thailand more advance in infrastructure and wifi , and that can be a disadvantage sometimes as packed with tourist and always in their gadgets, no more socialization in person. But i agree its a must to have better better wifi for Philippines. But to nature relax travelers who wants tranquility and peace. With 7000 plus islands, Philippines is paradise, and an English speaking country. Philippines is like thailand 10 years ago. 2 great choices. Culture are different coz Philippines is 85%roman Catholic. Thank you spain for that, and thats make Thailand unique to the western travelers. Thailand is miles ahead in infrastructure. But the Philippines is catching up, ahead in natural scenery and the use of the English language. Thus, I suggest to encourage group tourists to go first to other Asian countries until the government completes the basic horizontal infrastructure development. One of the advantages of the Philippines is that Filipinos Speaks English . It’s not hard to communicate to the people and most of them speaks foreign languages as well. I’m filipino by the way and I speak 7 languages ☺️☺️☺️

i've spent a month in the philippines 6 years ago, and i went back there and spent a month 4 straight years in a row. palawan is absolute beauty, coron, el nido, and puerto princesa for those people who know how to swim... it's heaven

im a Filipino and i have been to thailand with few of my friends for several times (The last time is this last songkran)... You're quite right about the delicacies of thai restaurants in the PH but trust me!.. in Thailand, food is waaaaaay much more accessible than here in the PH.. i mean at any time, any curcumstances, and any place you'll find those little stalls that sells amost every kind of food. like one time i decided to stroll around Pattaya area in thailand at 2am and to my surprise... every corner i turn has food stalls in it even if you're away from the main plaza or town. besides, the best local delicacies of Thailand for me isn't found in the restaurants with limited options but on those unlimited stalls of all kinds of food. :) Im a Filipino, i lived here in the PH for almost all my life and street food here inside subdivisions and cities away from the market are almost limited.. plus you still need to go to the market if you would want food at night.. so 'Accessibility' and 'Variations' of food are the two big difference from PH and Thai food :) ... P.S. i love the PH too and for travel destinations.. i highly agree that PH would offer much more than any other countries i have ever been. but as an unbiased comment, i would say i'd choose Thailand if i am looking for food. :)

Again.. i am fully aware of those Thai restaurants that serve great Thai food here in the PH. but 'Eating Thai food' is different from 'Experiencing Thai Food trip'... that's why i kinda elaborated my food experience there that diffirentiate the experience if you're eating thai food here in PH. the thing is for me, the food is not the only thing that what makes the trip worth it and special, it's the crazy experience 🙂 so it's not that much of a no brainer if you still go there and experience such things..
Digital Nomad Girl try Boracay Island. It’s one of the famous beach resort with natural white sand. For now , it’s under renovation. I can’t wait to visit there again.

Totally different now, unlike 5 or 10 years ago you can see lots of series lights almost every houses starting September. But now maybe due to high electricity cost, this seems not to be the case now. :)
Things have changed due to inevitable inflation. Most people now can't afford to put up Christmas decors on the first day of September up to the 2nd week of January. Yes, that's how long Philippine Christmas is, but even so, for most people who can't afford, still we start to spread and feel the spirit of Christmas by playing Christmas songs at home and even on radios as soon as the "ber" months commence )))
I been to both. This is my opinion. Thailand is beautiful and is a tourist destination but There is so many ppl (many stupid drunk Caucasian everywhere) , so many prostitution, so much drug abuser (some parts of Thailand) and not to mention i got pick pocketed while i was in Bangkok. Thai street food is good 4 out of 5 but many times they don't wash there hands and some do were gloves. Ppl ...again yes they are friendly but they are friendly because you have money and they don't speak English. I do love the culture 5 out of 5...love there temples. Philippines is also beautiful and its going to be one the best beach destination in the world. The bad - Its needs a lot of help from the government to boost the infrastructure. So tourist can easily get were they want to go. Yes wifi suck %100 very bad but again if u need to get away from it all! Philippines is the place! Food is good 3 out of 5 if ur not vegetarian! But again be aware of the street food and don't drink the water .. always ask if the as ice is filtered water or you vacation is ruined :). Ppl i have to i agree with travel beans. Friendliest ppl in the world period! Culture is also beautiful. Only Christian country in South east Asia. Over all I would go again to both country but if i had to pick one...Honestly Philippines cause ..umm not many tourist and i enjoy the beauty of the filipino islands :)
I agree with the water in Philippines, specially if you're a tourist, safest and cheapest thing to do is buy bottled mineral or distilled water from supermarkets (not convenience stores as their water is more expensive). Regarding street foods in Thailand being dirty because of the sellers, it's the same with most part of the Philippines, but go to Davao and visit their Roxas Night market, all of their street vendors wear gloves and face mask, so it's added assurance of cleanliness.
I love how you presented Thailand and the Philippines but I'm not really concern about the comparison at all because I love both countries. Two years as a teacher of English language in Thailand was more than enough an experience on cultural and social immersion. Yes, there are Thai food that I can't stomach, so as Filipino food that I dread. Travel around Thailand and neighboring countries by land trans or travel around the isolated Philippine islands by plane and boats are both enjoyable. These are just some of the differences that sets each country unique. And yes, I love the super high-speed internet in Thailand but I have no complaints on my internet service here in the Philippines. I'm glad it doesn't give me a headache teaching English online and booking clients on my home-based travel and tours))) I'm Filipino but I love Thailand among all ASEAN countries and I'm visiting Bangkok again next month )))
I am Thai and i must admit that Thai people cannot speak English very well like Filipinos,and other countries in SEA, this is very important things that Thai education must be improved. Now we have seen a lot of Filipinos working in Thailand as hotel staff, teachers, singers, pianists and more, they have great service mind, high patience,very good entertainers for singers/pianists , i admit..i'm a fan of them! I have Filipinos friends as well, honestly, they are the best and most sincere people from Asia i've ever met. Go to thailand first to party, dance, drinks and sexual favors ooops... Then after, come to the philippine islands for relaxation, meditation, etc. stay in an island alone as if its your own.
I'm Filipino and I live in Thailand. I can't really choose between these places. They both just have a lot of beaches and malls. My favorite country to visit in ASEAN is Cambodia.

Tom Cruz boracay rehab was the start, actually building airports and railroads was the start of govt support to tourism. But i think the end of laglag bala was was was very start of govt support to tourism. The laglag bala issue hurt so much our tourism but thankfully it stops.
John Javier: I think Boracay is the start but it should not be rush in reopening it till the job is completely done, from what I've seen the infrastructure is not nearly completed and to think of it being done in 3 months is not feasible. I would rather see it done the right way then rush things just to make the deadline of reopening Boracay.
Just develop and improve the existing touristy places, i dont want them to exploit the remaining beauty of my country. We all know how bad a greedy politician can do to one beautiful island. Bohol, boracay, el nido and coron is good enough for travelers who are not adventurous enough to explore.
The Department of Tourism should focus more on taking care of the environment in the tourist spots rather than making expensive commercials, because if you take care of the environment of the tourist spots, the place will promote itself through word of mouth by bloggers such as Travel Beans. And the Commission on Audit should really do an auditing of where the environmental taxes go. You know the 75 pesos or so that are being asked on tourists.
I love thai people they're kind and hospitable too I was one of the OJT's there in Phuket just recently Jan-June 2020 I've been there for six months.. The beach is beautiful just like in boracay. Some of the crew are Filipino's and one of them is General Manager they've been there for 20years... So maybe other tourists said that Thai only saw you for tourism livelihood that just because they are inside the resort or other tourist attractions but when you try to walk somewhere and feel that you are not just a visitor you will meet a lot of thai people and giving you a warm smile. because a lot of tourists in Phuket are Russian 😁And I met this Thai guy whom I fall inlove with but sad I need to get back to the Philippines and for me that was the saddest part in my life😢 When the day i need to said goodbye to him we both cried but he told me if I am willing to wait for him to finish first his study so that is 2 years from now, because he is taking his masteral degree then after that he told me to visit me here in Phil. and marry me. hehe sorry nakwento ko pa tuloy dito. Until now we still have communication through messnger. But I don't think if we can get through this LDR. every time I heard about Thailand 🇹🇭 my heart beats fast as I rememberring the days I was there ♥️ I assure you, you will surely love the country too just like Phil. This is the summary: If you want to have fun short term then visit Thailand. If you want to stay for a month or more then visit the Philippines (unless you need fast internet).
True, but Philippines is doing something to improve our internet service.... But I'd rather keep it this way, less tourist to maintain the natural beauty of Philippines, though I know and aware, that Tourist has big contribution for the economy and development of our country..

The best turon Ive had is in Baguio. Being from the PH I'm not impressed with turon anymore, but when I tried the one in Baguio, it blew my mind how good it was. The difference was it had ube halaya along with banana and jackfruit. It worked so well!! I dont think you guys have been to Baguio right? That place is awesome, a must visit too!
I’m a proud Filipino but i won’t say anything bad about Thailand when it comes to comparison. I’ve worked with some thai people before in the airport and they are very nice people. The only problem is that there are only few on them who really speak and understand english which is one of the important things if you are in the commercial airport. But then again they are great people for me compare to other asians. Thumps up to both country and Thumbs Up to #TravelBean i love you guys!
I am Thai and i must admit that Thai people cannot speak English very well like Filipinos,and other countries in SEA, this is very important things that Thai education must be improved. Now we have seen a lot of Filipinos working in Thailand as hotel staff, singers, pianists and more, they have great service mind, very good entertainers for singers/pianists , i admit..i'm a fan of them! I have Filipinos friends as well, honestly, they are the best and most sincere people from Asia i've ever met. I love Philippines and Filipinos, been there 4 times in life for working & travel...i feel like home there...we should be in this comparison, we are friends! Salamat po for your lovely comment!
Thailand has small number of english speakers but they have way more tourists than the Philippines, more like tourism money part of their GDP already. Thailand is even less democratic. Farangs prefer Thailand more than Philippines...

Philippines is a very beautiful country! Specially because of the people and of course, the food. Most filipino foods are not so healthy because we, Filipinos, do love meat and rice lol! But to inform you guys that we are celebrating Christmas for the longest period of time. Starting from September 1 until January, you will see people singing christmas songs and houses already has christmas decorations hahaha!
Yeah, Christmas is celebrated from September 1 'til January 6. After the long Christmas celebration here comes the festival celebration like Sinulog, Ati-Atihan, Dinagyang and other festival celebrations all year round. :) People here likes to party.
I saw them singing christmas song since September when i've visited Manila years ago! I love Philippines , and Filipinos, they are nice, easy going and friendly people. I am Thai and have many Filipino friends...I'm a fan of Filipino singers , pianists in Thailand when i've been to some clubs, bars, hotels .. i knew immediately they must be Filipinos when they started to play their music, or singing... they are the best for entertaining, making people enjoy and happy!

As a Filipino Amarican, I've been to Thailand and Philippines both have unique characters. Well thought off comparison and pick. I definitely pick the Philippines for what it is. Beautiful and not too crowded as Thailand. Keep up the travel and enjoy.

I am not a beach person myself, but seeing beaches in the Philippines, I 'd love love love to visit them. As for people, a lot of westerners choose the Philippines, which I am not surprised. However, I think it is not just the language, but it is the culture as well. Westerners find it easier to relate to Filipinos. While in Thailand, the language barrier is still high, and culturally, we and Westerners are like ......how do I say it???? We have a lot to learn from each other. In my own opinion, we are still not that comfortable to speak English. We are worried that we would make a mistake. And in terms of mannerism, we are still very Eastern. A lot of us don't even know how to start, and carry a conversation. But if somebody came to me to get help, I would sure help. Only that I would not be so convenient to think that I am giving the help the other person was actually looking for.....u know what I mean?

been to Thailand and fell in love with the country, it's rich culture and it's people. the main reason I went to Thailand is to visit their temples and discover and experience the authentic Thai food. I think Thai food is the best in the world for me and it's affordable. if you want nature trips, like beaches, I think the Philippines is the best in Southeast Asia. Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia has many beautiful beaches too but Philippines has more because it has at least 7,100 islands for you to explore. Wifi in Thailand is impressive compared to the Philippines and the traffic in Bangkok now is tolerable compared to Manila which I think is the worst in the world. there is one advantage of the Philippines over Thailand, most Filipinos can speak and understand the English language.

Speaking about English language, As a Thai person. I know what you mean when thai people didn't speak English well compare to philippine I mean Thailand has never been colonized by anyone or any country from Europe in the past so we're like Japan we speak our own language so it's you need to spwka Thai. Next time being your Thai conversation book when you come here. I brought my Japanese conversation book with me when I go there because I feel like this is how you really get to learn new culture too.
If you don't mind, Spanish, America, and Japan invades Philippines because of the abundance of natural resources here and we Filipinos not proud that we were invaded. However, we were glad in the terms that they brought here in the Philippines like religion which is "Christianity"- Spanish contribution, America contributes a wider "Education" that's why we Filipinos were good at English which is literary a universal language.
And it goes up to Feb I think. Thats the time they start pulling down the decorations. Haha... Plus the 3 kings and all that. I am not Catholic but still proud of the Philippine culture.
Cebu is a must to visit and Baguio . The food here is a fusion of Spanish . American , Chinese and you will be surprised how delicious our local fruits are like Lansones. Rambutan . Atis. Pomelo . Philippines is not commercialized like Thailand and here you still can find places untouched by progress .
I lived in the Phils for 12 years and I've just started my 5th year in Thailand. I agree with you 100%. Although Thailand gets more points I prefer the Phils but both are great.
