The Philips partner in Taiwan was nice enough to replace the Chinese buttons with English buttons in their Taiwan factory. I'm a teacher with family from the US and rely on English buttons and directions for operational safety.
I received a nice tel. call from Philips Taiwan stating that they wanted to remedy this issue. They suggested that they would replace the Chinese buttons and Chinese exterior with English buttons and the English exterior.
*I wasn't sure if the replacement of the buttons and language exterior was a good idea vs. just giving me a "brand new English version" for the "unused & brand new Chinese unit". I was simply worried about this modification causing unstable operating results.
After receiving the Chinese to English modified unit, the "brand-new" blender simply didn't work after 7 seconds. The motor blade simply stopped churning. There wasn't smoke, nor the odor of a burnt fuse. Please see part 2 and part 3.
*Buyer Beware of a Marketing Mismatch. Many English speakers will be disappointed to discover that the actual product will have Chinese writing with buttons in Chinese. The blender's box is represented by an English version with non-language like buttons. Furthermore, there isn't even an indicator box, nor sticker that notifies the buyer that the blender inside is a Chinese version. You can discover this marketing mismatch on all the Taiwan websites and product cartons.
