A quick initial look at the philips fidelio x2hr before I try modding them in the new year. If you fancy checking out what we have for sale, take a look at the link below: customcans.co.uk/shop/
there is no muddiness, these are bassy but not muddy its probably your source, and yes although easy to drive if your source is crap then they will sound horrible atom amp/drop thx one are amazing on these....tube amps not so much, so i dont know wtf are you talking about eva2415...coming from the sundaras of course it took me like 24-48 hrs to adjust to thensound of these..these headones dont need any modding...if you want the less sub, mid-bass then get the x3s still spacious but a little more balanced. I own both...
I do like these, have 2 pairs. Surprisingly comfortable and feel like they're built like a tank. I was gaming on them exclusively for a while, but I've just picked up a set of HiFiMan Edition XS, which are my "new shiny".
Interested in a mod for these. Although they're a bit on the heavy side, i really like the look of them and build quality is top notch (specially for the price). Soundstage is very good (for the price) and bass also very nice for an open back. But i agree with the the weaknesses you mentioned. Hope they can be improved. Treble actually bothers me more than the bass but i guess it'l depende on the amplification used and types of music listened.
Yeh, We have been crazy busy over the past few months so I have not had a chance to have another play with them but I will get round to it in feb /march hopefully
At around the 6 minute mark I think you describe kind of what they did with the X2HR's replacement, the X3. They lowered the bass hump and smoothed out the treble peaks.
+1 interest for a mod kit. would buy there’s some dekoni earpads made for these that supposedly improve the comfort and sound, haven’t tried them yet tho
@@CustomCans received and tested! Previous headset was DT770 Pro 32 ohms. So Im more than happy, the X2HR is very comfortable and the sound is really good! I hear my voice really well for streaming, I don't need monitoring in real time anymore! Just hearing my own voice like I wear nothing! Merry christmas
Great review Jason! Im a little curios how x2hrs would compare to dt880, over dt990; cuz I know the treble is a bit better on 880s, and are similar to x2hrs in a lot of ways. X2HRs are definitely my favorite easy to drive headphone; they are very detailed, image very well in the stage, and bass is also very dynamic/focused. Buy these if you dont wanna get an amp, have a fun headphone, and like a smooth vshaped sound. (I prefer them over hd560s) Little mod tip, pop up the bottom front corner on both earpads (make it so only 3 pegs are flush with the mounting), this will help the bass be less muddy/boomy and improve soundstage with that little air gap.
Hi Jason, great review as always, hope you are doing well! Can you recommend a pair of really warm sounding headphones where I can change cables? My budget is limited to 300, thanks a lot and I hope you will find time to do a music stream sometime :)
These are pretty warm, have a detachavle cable and are around £100 or maybe the rode NTH-100 but I have not tried many ... You are probably best off checking through forums and stuff.
Id like to see you mod/tweak the new t50rp 50th anniversary. Theyre great cans for $200ish. t60rp drivers and pads on a t50rp housing. pretty cool, youd like um
These are rather underrated since without EQ in their price range a lot of people would prefer these over more "hifi" options. Great metal cans as well.
