Hello everyone!
This is a review of the philips original all-in-one multi-cooker hd2237/72, the HD2237 or HD2137, viva collection.
Now compared to the highly acclaimed instant pot (Instant Pot Pro Plus 9-in-1), this is much cheaper and boast similar functions, but can it actually be just as good or better?
Could it make chuck roast in the instant pot just as good?

I have this cooker and I agree with you about confusion of setting times. I just wanted to cook some chicken legs for 8mins and wont let me set timer for that time.

Hi would you still be recommending this in 2023? I also have an IP duo Evo in mind. However the price difference is surprising when compared to Phillips 😮

Hello there. Googling to see if anybody experience problems with Philips All In one cooker I stumble upon your review. I have the Viva collection model just like yours I can see it. Thank you for your honest review. Sadly this is my second one. A replacement of the same model due to contact point issues with the cooker initially. After less than six month’s use the pot over heat. Did you experience that. My problems thereafter are as follows: 1. The non stick stopped being non stick after many uses. Love it otherwise. 2. The overheating is obvious. At the base of the pot it began to flake off. The flaking is in so many places it could only be because of the intense heat generating by the faulty contact point. 3. The cable at the contact point had to be supported in a certain position for example elevated to get power. 4. The power supply switches from on to off and it lit up the function buttons of the pot. I caught the problem on video on point number 4. The replacement pot did not with stand the heat especially the non stick. I have now reported the problems to Philips. Supported by videos I have managed to get Philips repair shops to look at it. Currently I am waiting their verdict. It is wonderful pit for basic functions including baking if it works. My second one the replacement gave me more serious issues than the first. This is using it regularly everyday for less than six months. Did anybody experience the same problems as I fo. Thank you for reading and Leonard for the review.

Great review, just bought this yesterday and i have to agree that the indicators and presets are not very intuitive. made soy milk with it and the indicator went to heating to start pressure to maintaining pressure while the floating valve was still down! it seems it just says it's gone to the next stage regardless of what actually is happening. then made yogurt with the milk and all the lights for start pressure and maintaining pressure lit up which does not make any sense . that being said if the general functionality is ok i can get past these things, haven't had enough time to play with it.

Thanks for dropping by! It's true, if you get past the annoying touch panel, the functionalities are actually pretty good! I hope you stay around for future videos!

Thank you for this review. Very informative. I just purchased one but the non stick bowl in mine is ceramic coated, black on the inside & the cookbook is also slightly different/larger. I think they must have upgraded it. I mainly use multi cookers for pressure and slow cooking. Good to know that the maximum time for pressure cooking is 59 minutes but honestly, I use the slow cook function for making stocks anyway.

I got the same version as you. Have you tried making slow cooked pot roast, and is it good? I tries pressure cooking a beef roast, 59 minutes it was cooked but hard

@@mikimuzika Oh sorry to hear that. I haven’t tried to do any roasts as yet. So far I’ve pressure cooked rice & risotto, baked a cake and made yoghurt. I think 59 minutes may be too long for pressure cooking a roast but I can’t say for certain as it depends on the weight of your roast & whether or not it had any bone in it. Did you use any water or stock?

In Australia we don’t get the spoon or stainless steel pot. Also our internal is black and there is no rice markings. The recipes are great looking however, given they use less liquid, I can’t figure out how much less? If a standard curry uses 2tins of coconut milk, how much less do I use?

Any idea if that plastic steamer rack is non-toxic in a high-pressure cooking environment?
@LeonardYTVern
@LeonardYTVern 2 года назад
It should be quite inert, however i think that's meant for steaming, I would use a small stainless steel rack if pressure cooking, to sterilize jars and what not.

My friend you said you can't go to one hour cook time, read your chart yogurt goes for 8 hours and is adjustable, also so does the slow cooker function and the saute function, I have had one for a couple of years no problems, you also need a bit of imagination . cheers
@LeonardYTVern
@LeonardYTVern 2 года назад
Hey mate, I don't disagree with you there on the yoghurt function. but I think I specified that the 59 minutes limit was related to the manual pressure cooker function, not the other presets or slow cooking functions. cheers

@@LeonardYTVern I am not sure why you would want to pressure cook a stock for 8 hours..Hit it at pressure for an hour then Low and slow brings out the best in bone and other stocks Ask the girlfriend 😉
