Philips Hue: totally useless without a Hub (bridge)!! 

I thought the system was smarter than this!
Yes there are now Bluetooth enabled light globes. Yes the light globe can work like a normal light globe, if you have it setup as a ‘dumb’ light globe. However, I never realised that all switches and motion sensors are ALWAYS connected together via the hub!
